I have stayed at the Waterbase in LaRonge twice now for business and both times have been great. There is no restaurant in the motel, but kitchenettes are available, or there are lots of options to eat out in the area. The rooms are a nice size and are very clean. The decor is a bit dated, but for the price it is quite acceptable. There are no air-conditioners in the room, but window open and airflow is decent. The beds and linens are clean and comfortable. The hotel is quiet and caters to a lot of business people, so no rowdiness while I was there. The motel double as the waterbase for a local air-freight company so if you are able to get a room on the lake side you can sit on your little patio and watch float planes land and take off. Beautiful view of the lake from that side as well. On the other side the view isn't as great but there is a very interesting period-type trading store across the street that has convenience items, souvenirs, and unique art and craft items from the area. Very cool to browse.

When your up North, for the most part you can't expect the same accommodations as one would find in a large city!
La Ronge is small, approx 1 mile from 1 end of the main street to the end!! Waterbase is on one end and the harbour Inn is at the other and in the middle is the the La Ronge Inn and suites is right in the middle!! I personally would stay away from the In & Suites as it has a Bar (The Zoo) and an of sale beer store, a rough crowd seemed to just mingle around the outside of it!!
Back to the Waterbase Inn. Room I had was very spacious, fairly clean and a nice large flat screen TV with ample TV channels! Wifi worked great in the room. Never did get the phone to wok to be able to make local calls and the front desk wasn't sure why it did not work. I wasn't overly concerned, could just walk to the front desk and use theirs if I wanted to
Maybe it is just me, but this really irks me----front desk stopping or conversation and answering the phone and helping the caller!! This happened when I came into book the room and when I was checking out!! We were in the middle of our transaction, but it all came to a stand still when the phone rang!! When I checked in, was only for a brief time, but checking out, it was awhile as the phone rang multiple times! Again, just irks me and find it rather rude! Maybe they were just short staffed, which happens in the North!!
Noise: No street noise, could hear the float planes but not overbearing! One could hear when the room next to you was having a shower, and when he gurgled!!! But you could not hear people talking
But would I stay there again? More than likely, but would not be a slam dunk, Harbour Inn was recommended by others as well. The staff at Robertson trading store highly recommended Waterbase Inn. One can have a room that faces the lake and the float planes. I gave it a very good rating for la ronge, but it would be below average if it were say in Saskatoon.
Pluses: Wifi Large flat screen TV with ample TV channels Fridge and coffee maker beds were comfortable Ample parking Good location
Negatives: Staff answering phone to help others (taking reservations for the rooms and the float planes) noise from adjoining rooms (but not annoying)
Near by strores (Keep in mind main street is small) Kentucky fried Chicken Subway Robertson trading store A&W
I'm sure you would enjoy your stay there, just hope no one calls when your checking in/out

I visited La Ronge for the very first time this month - a community about 3.5 hours north of Saskatoon. The Waterbase Inn sits on the edge of Lake La Ronge with a float plane "airport" behind the property. The place is a bit weathered, but I don't know if any of the other motels in the area would be any better. Nonetheless, I had a good sleep and the shower was fine. The big draw for me is Robertson's Trading Post across the street. This is pretty much the coolest store I've ever visited, with an amazing butcher shop and a great place to find Native handicrafts, including otter and mink mittens and beaver hats.

It could be worse, but it also could be better. At one time it was probably very nice and although dated, it still could be. My room was hot but with the window open it cooled off. No screen in the window, must cost extra. My coworker had one and a fan in her room. The tub and surround was new. My bed was clean and not uncomfortable. The rooms are shabby and smell bad. I bought fabreeze to help with the air quality. Not the cleanest- had to move bed to plug in the extension cord they run to power the lamp and clock. Also had to find the plug in for the Tv which resulted in more dirt/dust/cobwebs. Fridge in my room worked well. Glass and porcelain dishes in the room- no thanks. Breakfast- toast, cereal, or muffin. Banana/apple. Yogurt. The waffle batter machine was out of order as was the juice machine. Seems like a simple solution would be to offer juice and batter in juice jugs or single servings. All for the low, low price of $144/night.

Super clean comfortable room. Real kitchenette with full-size fridge and 4-burner stove with oven. Continental breakfast which you take back to your room to eat to facilitate social distancing. Will definitely stay here next time.

Stayed here in September for a business meeting. Overall impressions: Worn. Tired. Stained bedcovers…only a tiny drop of dried blood in the sink. Grouchy front desk. It’s better than nothing and that’s the market they’re after. Next time book sooner before the other options fill up

I spent two nights here and it's a great place to stay! The staff is very friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. There are restaurants nearby and Robertson's Trading Post is right across the street (yes, it's a real trading post!). The view east across Lac la Ronge is pretty. The back parking lot did not need to be paved as it is a beautiful sheet of Canadian Shield bedrock, complete with veins!

I stayed at the Waterbase Inn this past week and I was very impressed, I got a lakeview room which is directly beside the lake it is gorgeous even as it is frozen. I had my own sliding patio doors and parking spot. The staff was very welcoming and the room was extremely tidy and clean. It smelled good too which is what I really like walking into a hotel room. The kitchen is all hardwood and the lobby has very comfy couches and a nice television. It remineded me of my uncle's cabin. It was also very quiet.

Nothing too fancy. Worth it for the cost. One of the nicer hotels in town. Decent view of the lake. I would recommend the room with a kitchen. Very convenient and some rooms have a view of the lake...

Best accommodations in La Ronge! Our room, and in fact every portion of the inn we saw was sparkling and very fresh smelling. Spotless laundry facilities. Room spacious and we parked right outside the door, very handy for loading gear in and out. It was super quiet on the backside. We snowshoed right from the door out across the lake. Every staff member we encountered was cheerful, accommodating and super friendly. There is fast food right across the street, dining a couple of blocks away. It's La Ronge - The North. If you are expecting super trendy decor or white linen dining, you are in the wrong part of the world. Yes, there are some 'colorful characters' who wander the streets, but that's generally at the other end of this small town. On the other hand, the outdoors is the draw to this area! World class fishing, the natural beauty, water activities and unlimited winter recreation are right outside the door. In summer, the float planes provide all day entertainment a few yards away. Don't miss Robertson Trading Post directly across the street! One could easily spend a couple of hours marveling at the goods and displays in this uniquely Northern establishment.
