We had a nice weeks break, unfortunately the weather wasn’t in our side so struggled to find stuff to do since we couldn’t sit out in the sunshine as there isn’t much local to the hotel without travelling out but we still made it a good week. Hotel is nice very clean, food was amazing! Staff including the entertainers and the lady lifeguard we’re so amazing they work so hard and so friendly, unfortunately couldn’t say the same for the reception staff or management. We experienced the stray dogs whilst there in the beach and in the complex such a lovely bunch, yes I know you shouldn’t encourage them by feeding them but some were just so malnourished you couldn’t not. We managed to get 2 rescued whilst there including the sweetest injured boy, he was being attacked by a big awful white dog in the grounds of the hotel and the management did NOTHING to help or to move the evil dog, even blocked a dog rescuer coming to pick up the injured dog for 3 days!! Luckily we got wound this and he is now thriving waiting for surgery and his forever home Nice hotel but not sure I could go back here was the most traumatic holiday

Dear Guest, We would like to thank you for taking the time to write your review regarding your stay at Atlantica Akti Zeus. We can see from your rating that it was not the perfect holiday for you, but it seems that it was for reasons we couldn't influence. Weather is quite unpredictable during October, although it's mainly sunny. Regarding the stray dogs, we honestly find your comments somehow unfair. It's something which happens mainly when the hotel has not so much occupancy and, as you mentioned, when clients feed them, which is not prohibited, but not advisable too. I personally came at the beach area, together with the duty manager at the moment, when the "evil" white dog had already left the incident area. After returning to my office, I called immediately the local authorities and also some animal-friendly organisations. It is true that we hadn't the response we would expect, but there is not much we can do in such cases. Maybe it's not the right place to mention this, but I have personally treated stray dogs during my employment at Akti Zeus many times, with mostly positive outcome but not always. However, our consciousness as a team is unquestionable. With kind regards Reservations Mgr

Positives: - The water park is incredible. It is literally on site so a few seconds walk, and adults - this is not just for the kids! We met some friends here and had such a laugh! - Food is prepared for breakfast (fried eggs, sausages, bacon, beans, toast, fresh fruit etc.), lunch and dinner. There is always a big range - sandwiches, fish fingers and nuggets are available for children; with lamb chops, pasta dishes, classic Greek food, salads etc available for others. The snack bar is amazing - the hype surrounding the gyros is well deserved. - The staff are extremely hard working, especially in the lobby bar. They are there all day and do not stop. Remember to be polite to them! :) - The room is clean, good size for 2 of us, and the bed is comfortable. Large bathroom/shower - complimentary shampoo etc. - The hotel is beautiful to look at, looks and feels lovely! - There is a shop on site that sells cigarettes, alcohol, travel plugs, food etc. Very handy! Things not so great - The bars are quite understaffed so you can be waiting a very long time for a drink, not ideal if you are wanting to have a few drinks (or more haha) before midnight when all inclusive ends! - With it being an all inclusive hotel, it is confusing that some drinks like slush puppies or frozen daiquiris are not included? - When we stayed, the hotel was not at fully capacity, yet there wasn’t enough room at the lobby bar or around the pool for everyone to have a seat. This could potentially have been much worse if it was in the summer months. Something to think about? - The hotel is a €7 taxi ride or 15/20 minute walk from the town, if you are looking for things on the doorstep then this could be problematic Overall an enjoyable stay and we had a great time. We would return!

Dear Guest, We greatly appreciate your detailed feedback of your experience at our hotel and your rating. Regarding the less positive points of your review and although we don't want to use the COVID protocols' restrictions as an excuse, they were a significant impediment the last 2 seasons. We had to adjust all public areas' capacity and our service accordingly. Hoping that we will have the opportunity and joy to welcome you again in our premises, hopefully under better circumstances for everyone, we remain With kind regards Reservations Mgr

Came as a family of 5. Kids aged 10, 12, 14. Food Plentiful and of good quality. Hygiene standards good and we never queued for a table. Great range of cuisines, honestly don’t know how anyone could complain. Plenty to eat at all times of day and night, The coffee bar serves Costa -quality coffee which was very welcome as the weather the week we stayed was rubbish. Usual range of lovely alcoholic drinks and in fitting with other similar hotels. Entertainment Great team of enthusiastic staff. Darts at 11am, table tennis at 3.30pm, yoga, Aqua gym. Our kids enjoyed taking part in darts and table tennis, and the games were aimed at adults and children which was lovely. They should buy some more table tennis tables as the one they have is popular (no charge, but you have to wait your turn). Evening entertainment is patchy- we loved the Greek dancing and the quiz, but it’s never great in these types of hotels and we were just as happy playing cards in one of the many bars. The staff work ridiculously hard- the same friendly enthusiastic faces at kids club (9am) and again at the evening entertainment (till 11am). I don’t know how Lorenzo and Nico manage it but they present as friendly, engaging, and keen at everything they do. An asset to the hotel and kept us busy during what must have been a challenging week when the weather sucked. Splash park is a superb addition and one of the main reasons we booked this hotel. Our kids thoroughly enjoyed it (despite the cold) and it was plenty to keep them entertained. (I was a bit worried it might be g for them but I would recommend for age 2-15 to be honest. It ain’t Alton Towers, but it’s got enough thrills for all ages) Rooms Fab. Very modern. Equipped with fridges, tv, all the mod cons. We had one swim-up room (510) and a normal family room (522) and both were amazing. The weather was rubbish when we stayed, so we didn’t use the swim up room much, but I would totally book again in anticipation of nicer weather. General Only 20 min transfer from airport so that was fab. Housekeeping friendly and good service (if a little noisy first thing when us lazy bums were still asleep at 9.30am!). He ambience of this hotel doesn’t seem to be often commented on- it’s really pretty and has the vibe of a much smaller boutique hotel because of how it’s arranged. Beautiful plants (does that make sad that I even noticed that?!) and generally a much nicer, less corporate, feel that a lot of other all-inclusive we have visited. The sea is literally 10 yards from your sun lounger, which sounds amazing, but in reality there is quite a rip tide and huge waves (the week we were here anyway) which meant that although it looked nice it wasn’t really suitable for young children unsupervised. We brought beach shoes and my kids are older, but we still didn’t venture beyond knee-height. I saw a comment about stray dogs from the same week we were here. There were two stray dogs that came in on a couple of days, but were shooed out by staff and sent to a vet in the same day. To be fair, their response was more that I’d have expected given usual standards in foreign countries. Several guests didn’t help matters by going out to the beach and feeding them burgers, which in my opinion probably made them sick. Some people seem to love a sob story.... I’d book here again 100% - me and hubby both said that it wasn’t for the weather this would have been the best AL we have been to,

I want to give the hotel a fair review which I will but find it hard as our last day was completely ruined by seeing a stray dog being attacked by another stray dog in front of young children at breakfast time. Very upsetting and even more so when hotel staff blatantly don’t care and do nothing about it when the dog was injured & bleeding. Do not come here if you are an animal lover that’s all I will say … feral starving cats and thin stray dogs. Hotel overall was good. Pool area too small for amount of guests. My kids enjoyed the small water park. The food was plentiful and a good variety every day. English breakfast disappointing with cheap hotdog sausages. Everywhere clean. Room clean but pretty small. I was impressed there was a fridge in it though nice touch. Beach is nice but cut both of my big toes on the rough shingle beach. Power plant is an eye sore and to be honest all of the areas out of the hotel are an eye sore, uneven pavements, derelict buildings with graffiti, rubbish everywhere - to say tourism is such a big income for the country, you’d think they’d take more care of tourist areas! I would not come back to the hotel or to Crete - unless I was coming to help rescue all the stray dogs and cats that Grecians clearly don’t care for and are happy to leave dying of starvation. I was told off by staff for feeding a dog, bought my own treats & food and had a lifeguard following me around staring at me disapprovingly while I fed the dogs on the beach. Ive never come back from a holiday feeling as sad as I do after this one. My daughter is actually sat in her bedroom as I write this crying worrying about the dogs. Shame on you hotel manager when you read this!!!

Dear Guest, We have read your comments with great concern and we are sad to read that your experience with us did not meet your expectations, affected by factors that are not relevant to the actual service of the hotel or related to the standards that we are accustomed to offer. As a hotel and part of this country, we were placed a responsibility, for which we would like to apologize, ensuring you though that all necessary actions have been taken already for the health and safety of stray animals without leave them suffering. Best regards The PR Mgr

Due to covid we ended up moving our Dominican trip to this location for 3 weeks. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with plenty of positives for the hotel; - Food, plenty of choice at each meal time, all lovely and fresh and stocked up regularly. - Beverages , this was satisfactory for an adults all inclusive package, there was a range of options- 3 bars to choose from and the drinks plenty strong enough and a good choice at that. A special mention to Nikos (pool bar) and Stelios(main bar)! - Location, nice and peaceful and not too far out if you don’t mind a walk out. If you fancy venturing a little further round the island check out blue lagoon (just outside the hotel) to book some trips and at a discounted price. The trips to Santorini (over night) and Chania and Aigos Nikolaos were worth a visit. - Towels and cleanliness, we were fully satisfied with the service of these areas and were able to swap towels frequently. On the negative side slightly/ room for improvement: - Entertainment for adults, virtually none existent- this however could have been due to covid however the kids disco repeated every night was also disappointing for guests with children. - queuing for bars- whilst the drinks were of a good standard and plenty strong enough the queuing at each and every bar was excessive and disappointing. However due to covid restrictions maybe this was a necessary step for the hotel. -air conditioning- in some rooms within the hotel the air con lacked significantly, we changed rooms part way through and really noticed a difference, maybe something to be improved for the future guests. We would however most definitely return to the hotel and overall were really impressed. Thank you all for a great stay and all the best.
