We arrived after our flight to the hotel approx 11pm (local time) after taking a short taxi ride from the airport (€25).
When dropped off outside the property looks like a small budget block of studios (3 floors high).

Not really... it's a pretty quiet area (or was when we were there in June). Great place to relax but not that lively! You might be better off closer to central Heraklion if you're set on that area. Ian
