The hotel is beautiful and very relaxing, the pool has the perfect temperature and depth. Beautiful beds on the garden to sunbathe and relax with the nice music they play. We enjoyed the jacuzzi a lot and the breakfast. The gym could have a bit more things like a multifunctional but we decided to exercise by swimming. There were so many cats !!! That made us very happy as they were super cute ! All around Crete so we always carried kitten food and we made many fury friends. Room was confortable and big, Maria kept it clean every day ! The staff was lovely all of them always smiling and helpful. We had a wonderful time I hope we can come back.

The Hotel ground is indeed very nice, between modern and traditional, with a wooden appearance but still functioning and practical equipment. We added gazebo a while ago and we are so happy to know our guests like resting, tanning and reading in them. We try to play smoothing music during the day, something that will not bother our guests but will add on to the nice, calming atmosphere of Malena. We are glad you like it as well. We will definitely pass on the word to Maria, we are delighted to know you remembered her as our housekeeping crew really deserves it ! They do an amazing yet difficult job. Moreover, we are glad to know you enjoyed the professionalism and kind nature of our staff in general. We hope they were able to advice and accompany you on everything during you trip. Finally, concerning the cats, Crete is indeed full of them. It is sometime a difficult situation to witness as we also love animals and we try to make our best to help them (such as giving them food or water outside) but also keep them out of our common area. Like we said, we really do like them but some don't and as we want to accommodate everybody, it is tough choice to make. We are happy to know you feel like us and care for them but we hope you did not feed them in the restaurant as we are trying to teach them to eat outside, and we encourage everybody to feed them the same way. We believe it is the best alternative ! In the end, we would like to thank you again for you kind comments and for taking the time to share your experience with us and the community of TripAdvisor. The room is scandalous! When we arrived today, the toilet wasn’t cleaned, they left small bits of excrement. In addition, I paid in advance for a twin executive room but they just gave us a triple room. The extra bed doesn’t even have a pillow nor a bed cover. THIS IS NOT A 4 STARS HOTEL BUT A 0 STARS!!! ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS!!!

Dear guest, Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. and we are sorry that you had such a bad impression for our Hotel. However, we must say that we find it harsh and a bad representation of what really happened, and what our establishment provides our guests with. We remember the situation very well. You were part of a group of 11 people and a lot of confusion was going on as you were all trying to speak at the same time. Not only that, but after we finally manage to get you into your rooms, you came by the reception multiple time to make a fuss about different things. Which is not a bad thing, we are always ready to answer to your every needs, but you were not only impatient but also unsatisfied with all of our answers and became very aggressive. For a matter of fact, after all that, we recollect you being graceful enough to apologize for your behavior. As for the toilet situation, trusting your words, we sent a housekeeper right away so that she could redo the entire room. We don't know what more we could have done to satisfy you. We did commit some mistakes, that is undeniable, but we tried to make you as happy as could be. We provided you with a full refund of the first night for one room and offered multiple time for you to enjoy a free diner of free drinks which you refused. In the end, we are deeply sadden that you would forget to mention all that we tried to make you feel welcome and accommodate you. To say that Malena is a "0 Stars" in Caps Lock shows us that your opinion is biased and based only on anger and not on facts, a which is regrettable. We are always open to criticism, and we take ou guests' remarks at heart. We can say with certainty that will continue to improve and maybe, one day, if you come back, you will find that Malena definitely deserves its 4 Stars. Thank you again, Malena Hotel & Suites.

Hotel was really quite when we went so was ideal for a short relaxing break for the 2 of us . We were in room with jacuzzi on balcony - a worthwhile extravagance! Large comfy super king size bed was great. Staff were very helpful especially Katerina at reception and Maeria who came into give S her birthday massage ( highly recommended) . Only slight issue was stray cat and dog that occasionally wandered in to hotel grounds from surrounding area

Dear guest, Thank you for the review and the excellent rating ! We do however apologize for the inconvenience you may have experience with the animals wondering around. Malena is unquestionably pet friendly but we do not desire for our guest to be disturbed by them. Unfortunately, as it the same everywhere in Greece, we cannot help but have a few stumbling in our Hotel. We are already thinking of a solution that might drove them away from our main area while still being able to remain loyal to our principles such as a define feeding zone outside of the hotel. We are glad that you enjoy our facilities and our newly built rooms with jacuzzi. These rooms are certainly perfect for couples that wants to enjoy relaxing and romantic moments. There are four small/ medium cats living at the hotel that are strolling around all over, even the eating room. As they are young, they might jump on you while you are eating. As I am allergic and pregnant this was very uncomfortable. We asked in the hotel to remove the cats (at least from the eating area), they tried but the cats were coming back. So, we got the offer to move to the “sister” hotel Gouves Bay, where we went to meet even more stray cats…different story :( Beside the garden and pool area are very nice and clean. We had a 2room apartment which had big rooms. Unfortunately there was only one open wardrobe to put clothes on, no shelf or closet. Breakfast looked good. Unfortunately the fresh orange juice machine was broken while we were there. Decaf coffee is not included (unfortunate when you are pregnant). All in all it’s a nice hotel (if you like cats) with possibilities for improvement.…

Thank you for your review. We apologize for the inconvenience. There are a lot of stray cats in our area, and because our guests were constantly feeding them so they come. We try to keep them outdoors so that there is no problem. As for the issue of decaf coffee, we have addressed it. We went Island hopping in Greece and had the most amazing holiday till Malena hotel. Our ferry to Heraklion was delayed so we called the hotel to let them know because of the taxi, they were really rude on the phone and told us that there was no room for us. We booked early in advance so we were really confused, after a few phone calls they told us they had to leave the room empty for 24hrs for COVID reasons and that they booked another hotel for us. We looked the hotel up on booking and it had bad reviews and was a lot cheaper (from the same owner!!) so we didn’t agree, we got a “free” dinner but still had to pay for 2 drinks… after staying 1 night in that terrible hotel we could check in our room. The room was nice, bathroom smelled terrible but it was okay. The hotel was fully booked and everybody was stressed out. A lot of guest had to stay 1/2 nights at the other hotel and were really unhappy. The older man at the reception and the bartender are very friendly and tried to help us! But nobody ever apologized for the whole situation and the communication was terrible, after traveling there you don’t want this to happen.. We would really not recommend this hotel to anyone, and that’s a pity because in my opinion the hotel has a lot of potential but it’s just not there……

Excellent service throughout our week-long stay. From check in to check out it was all flawless. Varied breakfast, options for brunch, and the fixed dinner menu was a good mix of traditional and international always with a twist - really tasty and well thought out. Whenever we were not having one dish, we were offered an alternative. Clean and daily serviced rooms, pool facilities are good for kids and adults. Wifi was good and had coverage around the hotel and pool. The beach is 2-3min walking distance. For the area with beach bars and sunbeds you need to go a few more minutes. Very friendly and professional hotel staff. Thanks a lot to Xenia and George, as well as to all the others who made our stay a wonderful experience!

Without a doubt the best hotel I have stayed in in Crete. The staff is impeccable, especially the bartender George and Xenia. Very clean rooms and pool area. Exceptional food. Beautiful setting and very welcoming people. Perfect wifi. I can't find one thing that I could call a minus. Thank you Malena hotel for a great stay ! It was a pleasure.

We stayed at the hotel in June. Staff was kind and helpful. Breakfast is tasty but not so variedly. Everything is clean and well-designed. There is a lot of olive trees which really gives you feeling of Crete. The hotel is really close to the two roads with non stop traffic. However, sound isolation is great and it is really quiet in the room. Wifi signal is not constant (it is not hotel's fault due to signal restrictions). First time in four-star hotel where safe is paid 5€ per day.

We made a reservation in May with Malena Hotel in Amoudara, Crete. Only two weeks before the date of arrival in late July, the hotel informs us that they no longer can welcome us due to a group reservation having been changed. Things can happen but the verdict will be based on how the hotel handled the situation. In our case, it was no good!! No concrete alternative proposal, no offers just a reference that we can cancel without any fees. This put us - family of four - in a very difficult situation (possible with short notice to find other accommodation and/or increase of costs?). After several mails from my side, the hotel came up with a proposal in a sister hotel which did not meet our needs. Bottom line - Malena Hotel failed to handle the situation! Can not recommend them.

However, I would like to emphasize that when we saw that there was a problem with your room we informed you 2 weeks in advance. The options given were as follows: First, find another accommodation of your choice. Secondly, we can find you a similar accommodation with the same money without paying anything extra. You chose to find you a hotel. We show you all the information you need to know (pictures, location etc.) and then you agreed. Finally, we sent you to a 4* hotel with all-inclusive for free.
