I came back with my husband and our nice this summer to this small but wonderfull family run hotel, where we felt extraordinary well in 2018. We rediscovered (in spite of the corona virus conditions) the same nice, peacefull place that we knew, the same very kindly and helpful staff, the lovely ladies Maria and Aristia from the reception and the most beautiful garden with palm and colorful flowers that sorounded the hotel and the pool. The cleaning of room service was very good (the towels were changed daily.) The rooms are rustic and the ones with garden view are quite. The breakfast is continental. The pool was very well maintained and very clean. The HOTEL is very close to sea beach and close to taverns and shops too. It is not a luxury hotel but if you are looking for a simpley cosy, decent place and a warm and pleasant atmosphere this is the place for you. We will always come back here with pleasure.…
I went on vacation with my sister and best friend and we stayed in this hotel for 7 days. This is old fashioned hotel mostly intended for younger people who are not seeking for much comfort. Do not expect excellency, but if you compare price and quality you will get, I would say that this ratio is very good. Hotel has great location and is very nice, but needs to be renovated. Thus, if you have special demands or higher standards, this is not a hotel you should consider. Rooms are quite small, as well as the bathroom, and everything is pretty old, but hygiene is at high level. Room was cleaned each day, towels and sheets are changed every two days, which is not so common for 3-star hotels. When it comes to breakfast, menu was not so various but food was fresh and tasty. WiFi is very good, as well as air condition system. Hotel has large, well maintained and clean swimming pool where we spent lot of time since nearby beach is beautiful but very windy. Garden is beautiful with lot of palm threes and various plants and flowers. Huge disadvantage is that there is no no mosquito nets at the balcony doors, especially if your room is facing the hotel garden like it was in our case. Thus, you are basically forced to sleep with air condition on and close the door in order to stop various insects and other small animals such as lizards, bats etc. to enter in the room. On the other hand, location of the hotel is great, since there is lot of tevernas, stores and souvenir shops in Amoudara. Local beach is 150 meters distanced and across the street is a bus station from which you can get, among other destinations, to Heraklion and Knossos. Vis-a-vis hotel is huge medical center as well as tourist info which we found more than useful. Despite several above mentioned disadvantages, you will get great hospitality from hotel staff who is always at disposal, will make you feel like home and give their best to improve the overall impression of the hotel.…
I stayed in this small but wonderfull family hotel in period 22august -29 august 2019. I felt extraordinary well in this hotel. The staff were very kindly and helpfull...the cleaning of room service was very good....the towels were changed daily. The pool was very well maintained and very clean. But ...the most beautiful place of this small hotel was the wonderful garden with palms and leanders blossomed in wonderful colors .... I will return next year and for 2 weeks ...no doubt...the position of hotel in the city is very close to sea beach and close to center of the Amoudara city too.
Last summer on July I have a business trip to Heraklio town.I've stayed for three days with my team to GORGONA HOTEL.It is a small hotel(two level building) old but clean. The rooms are small, especially the bathroom. Our room has city view(the main road of Amoudara and it was at the first floor. There is a small refrigerator, a small old flat tv, an old noisy unit of ac.Wifi was good enough. The breakfast was below the average and the staff of the hotel seems not enough. You may see the receptionist to be at the same time at the area of breakfast but also at the bar of the lobby area. The pool was small, clean with some old sunbeds. There was a small pool bar but the employee seems not to be profressional. The garden area seems to be nice and well done but if you look carefully at the front of the breakfast area was dirty. There is plenty of space to park your own car at the front of the hotel but there is also in a small distance a bus stop for the local bus.;Heraklio is about 7 Km.Amoudara is the place that you can find a lot of entertainment(bars, restaurants, taverns, beach bars, cafe).Beach is sunny with a lot of sunbeds with charge of course.Don't forget to visit as long you stay there the local tavern called ''PETOUSIS''.Nice well cooked food, excellant wine in good prices.Don't forget to taste pizza.…
We were put into this hotel as an emergency for one night only. Had there been anything else available in the Hiraklion area, we would have walked out immediately. The room was tiny (estimate about 8 ft x 12) and scruffy with a brown stain on one wall. Only one set of towels was provided and we concluded that this room was intended for single occupancy. The bed was a very small double; the pillows (one each only) were thin and lumpy and provided no support whatsoever. In the shower room, the air vent was broken and looked filthy. The towel rail had broken off the wall at some point and not replaced. I wandered the grounds the following morning and found them very pleasant with a large pool. The breakfast was adequate but not exceptional. I can't comment on location as we didn't have the time or inclination to explore but I believe the beach was nearby. Other rooms may have been larger and better but I can't comment. Based on our experience, I couldn't believe that people actually paid to stay here!…
The hotel is very nice and spacious, in the middle of a lush garden, very close to the beach. It is very clean, the breakfast area is very beautiful, on a porch surrounded by the garden. The breakfast itself is very good, it has all the breakfast foods for all tastes. The management of the hotel are very nice, very friendly, always ready to help. There is spacious free parking in front of the hotel. Wi-fi works well. We were very happy with our stay and will definitely book again.
Stayed for 1 week with my fiancé and mum and dad, lovely family hotel, staff are polite and friendly rooms basic, ours was cleaned every day, breakfast continental did suggest a toaster, they are doin small changes next year we will definitely go back and stay here, pool area clean and plenty of beds, plus on the Main Street so many restaurants and beach 5 minute walk so all good loved it xx from Dawn , Paul, Terry and Dorothy xx
Hotel Gorgona is set really close to the beach and there are multiple good restaurants around. The hotel itself has basic rooms that to be honest could do with some modernising. The breakfast included is good and the pool is clean with plenty of space around including loungers and tables / chairs. What pushes this up to a 4* is the staff who are incredibly welcoming, happy to help with any queries and get any problems sorted out straight away. Recommended for a budget stay away.
We were put into this hotel as our flight was cancelled. The lady on reception was lovely and the grounds are very attractive with a good area for breakfast. However, that is where it ends. There is no lift; no evening meals and the quality of food is distinctly average at breakfast. The room we were given may not be regularly used as the hotel was helping out but it was awful: the walls were roughcast and poorly painted. I suppose the beds, though hard were OK. The shower was basic and had a cracked basin.
We had a room overlooking the garden. The balcony was just large enough to sit on in comfort. There was virtually no external noise other than the birds singing, great. The noise problem is inside, the rooms seem to have virtually no soundproofing. Every little noise is heard by everyone. It is a shame because we were made very welcome. The included breakfast was very acceptable.
