I would say the best experience I had at this guesthouse was meeting other travelers on the trail. This place obviously hasn't had any maintenance in years and they haven't really had any competition until recently so they haven't needed to. The shower in our bathroom completely flooded the floor, leaving a stale urine smell in the bathroom. None of...

Nice hostel, very nice location. Ok food, cold beers, the best view to have a beer in China!!! What else do you want? Maybe it's a good idea to actually clean the room, not only change the beds. Rooms were dirty. Shouldn't be to much to clean a bathroom or clean the rooms once a week/month. Liked the vibe of...

Well it's been about a week since our stay at the Half Way guest house and we've been just ITCHING to go back. Well, OK, maybe not itching to go back, but definitely itching all over our bodies thanks to a massive infestation of bed bugs in our room. It didn't take long after lights out for these pesky insects...

The hotel offers everything you need and could reasonably expect in this location. The staff were friendly, polite and spoke good English. The room was comfortable and warm, the en suite bathroom functional with hot water, towels and toiletries. The food and drinks are not at all overpriced - despite the captive market, and we're tasty and filling. The views...

Its a guesthouse in the mountains, not the Ritz! Am not sure what the rest of the guests here expecting! The staff here are nice and friendly. I even got a few of the girls to apologise and giggle when they messed up our dinner orders. Its all about the attitude (or not having any). The staff are not expecting...

The views are just out of this world. And yes, the bathroom featured in Michael Palin's program does have the most incredible vistas. Only thing is that it is one of those hole in the ground kind of thing so you have to pay attention while you are at it rather than enjoy the view. The deck is great and I...

Pros: - great location with stunning views of the gorge and the mountains - beautiful surroundings are beautiful. - well, it is a guest house up a mountain in the middle of nowhere so don't expect luxury but it is clean, charming, has hot water and electric blankets for cold nights - the roof top terrace is very charming and...

It was drizzling (again) when we stumbled into the courtyard without a reservation (you don't need one BTW), and were given the option of a twin bedded room, no bathroom for 90 Yuan or a double bed with bathroom for 150 Yuan - we took the latter. Both rooms have a fabulous view - through the mist. The private bathroom...

Until next year in 2015, this is the only guesthouse for a hiker trekking through the Tiger Leaping Gorge. The inn houses 30 rooms on three stories and is situated such that guests with rooms on the top two floors get an amazing view of the surrounding mountains. Unfortunately, the conditions of the rooms and quality of service are not...

The worst place found in 3 weeks in China. We are used to mountain hiking and basic lodgings, but we should find a brand new category to classify this place. Rooms (and dorms) are dirty and nothing is washed or cleaned; when you arrive, the welcome is to try to trick you with the price. The food is edible in...
