The Capo Spartivento Lighthouse was built in 1856 by the Italian Navy. During the last war it was machine-gunned by American planes and, later on, it functioned as the lighthouse keepers residence until the late 80s. It has lit the way for seamen for over 150 years, slicing the darkness like a sword with its welcoming beam of light, is now fully restored and works as a luxury hotel without losing its original function.

Faro CS is a unique hotel. It’s a C19 lighthouse converted into rooms with a beautiful infinity pool and tranquil grounds. Perched on a promontory with its working lighthouse it has oodles of character and a lot going for it. It’s kept spotlessly clean and the rooms are great. Our room had a sea view in the original LH and was amazing. The bed , circular in design, was one one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. Breakfasts, served by the pool are fantastic. But other aspects of the hotel need upgrading. Some fixtures and fittings are looking tired, and that’s not all that needs a refresh. You reach the hotel via a truly appalling 2km long road full of potholes and deep gouges in the surface. It’s steep in parts and unlit. Even after the private gate things don’t improve. I was glad we had arranged for a private taxi from Cagliari as negotiating that in the dark in a hire car would not have been fun. This was not mentioned at all by staff in emails re arriving at the hotel. It takes around 20 minutes to reach Chia (2km away) from the hotel, so factor this in to your day. We felt fortunate to have hired an SUV as without this it would have been much more difficult. The other issue is the food! The road does act as a bit of a deterrent to eat in town if you can be bothered to even try!. Options there are limited. However the E100 menu ( E25 a course) might spur you on to be creative. The food is inconsistently prepared. We didn’t try any of the starters but the primi plati were good the twice we did eat there. Secondi were cold and disappointing. When I drew this to staffs’ attention, they did offer a free dessert but I’d had enough of cold food by then. To be offered a sorbet after that seemed a bit! weird. The location and stunning views make up for a lot at FCS. Only a few small changes are needed to make this into a really brilliant experience.

The journey itself is an experience. High above the cliffs, the "lighthouse hotel" is in a fantastic location, uniquely embedded in nature. The welcome was friendly, a welcome drink was offered and the evening's menu was presented. We would have expected to be told something about the lighthouse and the various things to see in the area. When we asked, we were told we could look on Google maps... The evening meal was excellent, but the service was extremely slow. It took almost an hour for the first starter. Breakfast was also very good, with top quality, but here too, the service was very slow and not service-oriented, which is a shame.

I gave 5 stars because it is the best but the lighthouse deserves many more.. Let's start from the place... magical and unique where the wind (unfortunately in our case a lot and strong) reigns supreme but where the view is truly priceless... We were 2 of the 4 guests of the structure and this also contributed to making the experience even more exclusive and special...room with sea view with attention to the smallest details with furnishings that guarantee modern comforts but the recovery of historical pieces The dinner in the lighthouse was all very good and accompanied by an excellent local wine, making the experience unforgettable To underline the great kindness of Daniele and all the staff.

We have been traveling through Italy for two weeks, and stayed in some pretty nice hotels, but this will be the one to talk about the most! And old “faro”, it light is still illuminating the night, and the old structure has been perfectly adapted for hosting 4 rooms, some big old tables for breakfast and dining, and one or two small but elegant living rooms. Spiral stairs.. dont forget to climb to the lights at the top! Location is spectacular, in the middle of nothing, there is a lovely endless water pool and outside lounge open to the sea, to escape from time and look at the vast nothingness of the Sardignian coast at sunset. Some 10 minutes away walking on the right there is a small and lonely cala for a great swim, or walking another 10-15 minutes to the left, spiagga Cipolla with white sands and turquoise sea. Great way to start the day!
Definetely not cheap, but totally worth it!

This guesthouse is at the end of a dirt road in an very bad condition (even after the guesthouse’s entrance gate!)! Moreover it is extremely difficult to find it as there are no signs and we received no indications in the mail they sent us prior to our arrival! In this mail we were just asked if we had any food allergies which surprised us as meals were not included! Once there we understood why! The dirt road is almost impassable and surely dangerous at night so you are left with no other option than to have dinner there! This gave us a slight feeling of being hostages of the overpriced single menu (100€ per person without drinks) even more so since the cuisine was very average . The setting though (by the infinity pool) was nice!
The interior decoration is something between kitsch and ethnic from Asia and has of course nothing to do with the spirit of a European lighthouse!
Since it’s a guesthouse and not a hotel instead of a hotel’s infrastructure which was lacking we were at least expecting more of a personal touch but unfortunately this too was not there (except for the tall gentleman at our arrival who was very nice and helpful!). Senior staff has more of a formal politeness which goes down as days go by and junior staff lacks manners and experience .
Overall it is original to stay in a lighthouse but the experience was surely not value for money!

I spent here 2 wonderful days with my just-married husband in early September. Before visiting I already had high expectations, all exceeded with my stay. From the phone booking process with the super kind Laura I felt welcome and at home. The place is simply astonishing with such an incomparable view of the sea and is surrounded by white-sand incredible beaches. Peaceful breakfast and intimate dinner were served on the terrace and they only cater selected food of local origin. Our suite in the lighthouse didn't have a sea view but was very cozy, very clean, and very spacy. What I appreciated most was the courtesy and the customer-centric approach of all the staff, with a special mention to the waiters. I can't wait to be back for another stay, I feel this place is like a friends' house: no noise, no rush, just relaxation and beauty.

Thank you because the place is not only a place of the soul but is also animated by people who do their work with care and passion. The structure is the work of truly interesting recovery and restoration work, with particular materials and great attention not to distort the original volumes and atmospheres. The external part offers peace and serenity; after a day in the splendid surrounding sea, a dip in the pool gives the impression of having returned home. And then the food... well prepared and accompanied by a very respectable wine list. A concentrate of good and beautiful Sardinia, certainly not cheap but one that was 'worth it'. Thanks therefore to Michele, Filippo, Laura, Daniele and to all those whose names I don't remember. A special mention to the young and very kind waitresses. I really hope to see you soon!

We stayed in this lighthouse converted into luxury hotel in August 2021. The place is simply breathtaking. The rooms are fantastic and the view is stunning. Comfortable bed and high level amenities in the room. Excellent restaurant (only for the guests of the hotel). Pool with a fantastic view. Really everything was perfect, amazing and peaceful. You need a good car to get to the lighthouse. They also organize / rent umbrellas and sunbeds in the beach close by. Highly recommanded experience
