We had to stay at a hotel while in Vadstena instead of with our in-laws because of Corona:( The hotel was 2035 sek for one night, a Tuesday in low season October. We had to pay 350 sek for an extra bed for our son whom is 8 I was expecting something really nice for that price... boy was I surprised. It should be added that the hotel was in no way even near capacity. it should be mentioned that I booked via luxuryboutiqehotel.. which re-routed me to booking.com and I had not paid attention to this, during the check-in process the women behind the desk was very rude about the whole thing and said "NO" we are not on the website you are mentioning you booked via booking.com.... (I went back to check after and saw that I had indeed found it on that website)... customer service is debatable..!!!:( On the walk down to the room, you walk on a very stained and not flat (so be careful not to trip) wall to wall carpet, it felt like I was in a retirement home more than a hotel. The room was so small that when the extra bed was put up there literally was no space to move around. Also the bed was along a very hot radiator ... and because the bed was in the way for the radiator the room got very cold, (at least this is the conclusion we drew) the floor was freezing. When we checked in we got no information about the spa so I am unsure of the name "spa"... and what it means I wold not go here if you are looking for a spa!!! The one positive note is I had asked for quiet room and I got this....I hope I won't have to go back.. next time I will use airbnb as we had done the previous time we needed a place to stay because of corona.

We stayed at this hotel 3 nights. It was very nice in a beautiful environment, greenery all around. Rooms were smaller but satisfactorily reasonable nonetheless. Everything was clean and nice. Breakfast buffet was good, quite a lot to choose from. We also had dinners there and I can recommend lamb, it was very good. Perhaps the tastiest lamb I have ever eaten. Wifi worked well, staff was friendly and helpful. One thing I have to write about is that there may be better space for smokers than having to stand in the parking lot, it almost feels like a punishment for smoking and it would be nicer to be able to sit and not just look at cars.

We received the friendliest welcome I have ever had at a hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for the girl at reception. The road between Motala and Vadstena was closed due to a cycle race, but we were given detailed instructions on which road to take instead, and we had no problems finding our way. There is plenty of parking outside, and it’s free of charge. Beware that the reception is not open 24/7. You need to let them know when you plan on arriving, and if you go out at night you will be given a code for the door so that you can let yourself in. The building itself is beautiful, and the surroundings as well. Weather permitting, you can have breakfast outside in the morning which was lovely. Our room was small but adequate, and we had everything we needed. All I really missed in the room was a kettle. My only reason for not rating this hotel 5 stars, is the breakfast. It was okay I suppose, but had it not been included in the price of the room, I would not have payed extra for it. All in all a very nice place that I am happy to recommend to anyone.

So, I was looking for a place half way between Stockholm and Gotenborg on my driving tour. This place is a bit strange as it is overpriced for what you are getting room wise. I paid $300 for room, dinner, breakfast. The dinner was really fantastic, although it is pre-set and there is no choice each evening. The breakfast buffet was a little below my expectations. Also the room and bathroom felt a bit cramped. The biggest drawback was the window barely opens and even in May the room was warm. They did have a tower fan in the room that pulled in the evening air that made sleeping okay, but I wouldn't do it in the heat of the summer. The bed linens and bed were okay. There is tons of free parking and it's easy to get in and out of. There is also a really great grocery store across the street and a petrol station. Also the spa area was only open from 2-7PM and so we were unable to use it before we checked out.

The visit was in Dec. 2016. We spent SEK 6500 in a Deluxe weekend with Relax package to celebrate our marriage. • Pos: 5 course dinner with wine package on Friday and Saturday. They were nice and exclusive so we had what we paid for. • Cons: hotel is nothing fancy and our room had view to the road. • Spa is limited to sauna, jacuzzi and relaxing room. On Saturday it was so packed, we could barely use it. • during our romantic dinners, the waitress was enthusiastically talking about her wine repertoire to my husband, in Swedish, so I couldn’t follow. She already knew I was an English speaker. This was very rude and unprofessional. Overall, average hotel claiming to be more than it is.

My wife and I went to the Vadstena Akadamien opera festival, performed in Vadstena Castle - a wonderful experience, and stayed overnight in the Starby Hotel, which was easy walking distance to the castle and to the town itself. The hotel was friendly and comfortable, good breakfast, and contributed to enjoyment of our stay, although we did not stay long enough to visit the spa facilities. It was more expensive than we would have liked, but worth it in the circumstances.

The location of the hotel, on the outskirts of the town is convenient and pleasant and there are nice gardens to relax in. The hotel looks attractive and inviting on the outside. However, I found the interior pretty disappointing. During our stay the weather was warm and the hotel was unbearably hot. I had to leave on a very noisy stand alone air con unit all night and it was still stifling. The room itself was very basic. Small and with minimal furnishings. There is a spa area which seemed to consist of a sauna and jacuzzi (certainly not needed in the sweltering heat of the hotel during our stay). As for the breakfast, during our two week tour of Sweden the breakfast was by far the worst. Meagre and basic. This hotel is about the standard of a Premier Inn back home, but dresses itself up and prices itself as something more.

A nice hotel with good standard in the beautiful small city Vadstena. It's close to the center as well to the castle. I'm the resturant traditional food is served, the wine list is decent. Good but small rooms. Good WiFi.
