Great rooms, great service, very friendly, super breakfast. Right on top of the high street, and Sandown park, highly recommended. Small car park, although I didn't eat there the menu looked really good

We stayed here en route to Essex. We know Esther well having lived in the area so chose this as our stop over from Cornwall. Our room was comfortable and we were pleasantly surprised to find real coffee in our room instead of the usual hotel instant coffee - nice touch! All the staff were welcoming and friendly. We didn't... More

Nice hotel come pub. Clean rooms good size and modern bathroom. We arrived before the room was ready but were well looked after. Cases were taken up for us while we had a beer. Pleasant staff Only criticism is location is a little awkward if you don't know it as its all one way system. The car park is not... More

Met in Reception by the young manager, who was very efficient & explained the arrangements very clearly. Excellent room, but as adjacent to the High Street was noisy during the Saturday evening. Bar service average - lady serving explained she didn't know how to make a dry martini & lemonade. Youngs bitter on good form. Very good English breakfast after... More

My partner and I stayed over for the night as we were travelling to France the next day. What a beautiful pub to stay at for bed and breakfast. The room was lovely, quaint and spotless. The staff were very polite and breakfast was excellent!

If you absolutely have to be near to Sandown race course, or you need to stay in Eshers high street, then The Bear Inn will likely be a consideration. I recently attended a motoring event at Sandown Race Course, where my vehicle was on display. The Auto Club I belong to suggested The Bear as a possible stay-over, due to... More

Hello, Thanks for leaving feedback on your stay. Apologies regarding people smoking in the court yard. I have addressed this issue and have made this a no go area. Regarding the noise I have to say that yes the weekend can be busy, especially if there is an event at Sandown. But I would point out that this is subjective... More

Really happy with our one night stay at The Bear. Arrived Saturday afternoon on a busy race day - lots of people eating/drinking inside and out before heading off to the race course. Check in was swift and our room was ready early! The room was a good size with a huge bed, cleaned to a high standard, fresh towels,... More

Really lovely pub. Friendly staff upon arrival and they happily took our bags as we were well ahead of check in time as we were going to the races. Great selection of ales and all the staff were extremely polite. Friday evening we sat outside and they had a bbq and live band on. The band were good and my... More
