Good points :- Great location. Friendly staff. Nice public rooms and bedroom was nice with great views. Nice tasting menu with good wine flight. Not so good points :- Shame no beer at all. The morning tea and coffee was nice but would have preferred having the ability to make our own in our room Really quite expensive

My husband and I stayed at the Airds to celebrate our wedding anniversary weekend, i had also worked there 36 years ago and had promised myself i would return one day. The plus points of the Airds was the polite and efficient staff who went out of their way to attend to our every need. The food was first class as was the service. The downside was the room although comfortable it was in need of some tlc. The hotel is very overpriced, we have stayed in more luxurious for less , the drinks and the wine were also very expensive and to top it all they ran out of beer which is really not good when you have paid alot of money for your stay All in all it was a relaxing break and we met some lovely people but Betty & Eric Allan who were the owners 36 years ago ran a much better Airds and everything back then was tops.

Let's start with the positives. Every member of staff that we encountered gave first class service. Every meal was exceptional and well presented however there could be a bigger selection than 3 mains. Room and bathroom were perfectly acceptable and we received clean towels without even requesting them. This was bought as a birthday surprise but my personal opinion is its a bit overpriced and the bar prices are very expensive. Also an establishment like this should not run out of beer

What a fabulous place. The location is stunning - the views are magnificent and the setting is so romantic - perfect for our anniversary. The staff are all absolutely wonderful too - so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We felt so welcome and at home. While it has a lot of old-fashioned charm, it isn't dated or stuffy in the slightest and this is what makes the place so magical. You can easily sit in one of the wonderful living rooms and while away the day reading a book or spend time out and about exploring the nearby beautiful countryside - there is so much to see and do. If you like the outdoors then the scenery is majestic and it is worthwhile hopping on the ferry to Lismore to take a look around the island. If you are a foodie, then great news. Because this place served up some of the most mouthwatering dishes we have ever eaten. There's a lot of choice on the breakfast menu (if only we had more days so I could've tried them all!) and the dinners were out of this world. The menu doesn't change daily at the moment unfortunately. However, if like us you like to try everything then this is no bad thing - my favourite dishes were the duck and the stone bass - yummy! Neither of us wanted to go home while we were there and I would go back in a flash given the chance. If you are thinking about going to Airds, then don't think any longer - book it!

Airds Hotel & Restaurant Port Appin Awful - avoid 794528298 Stayed in May and can say almost nothing positive about this hotel. It is stuck in the past. Full of its own importance. Providing boarding house levels of hospitality at the most inflated of prices. The room was unattractive. With virtually minimal facilities. We are more than able to use a kettle - it is the 21st century. The main lounge had an overpowering hushed atmosphere. So dated. So unappealing. The pre dinner canapés were poor unimaginative and similar throughout our stay. The dining room was dated. The waiting staff were lovely but the sad white stained gloves were a relic from the past. When moist they must provide the perfect vector for pathogen transmission. The food was poor unimaginative and prescriptive. The head chef really needs to improve both presentation and variety. Housekeeping was appalling. The room was not vacuumed throughout our stay. No clean towels offered. Buy the cleaning staff a uniform. Having them wander about in shabby clothes reflects badly on the hotel. This hotel is vastly overpriced for the very poor quality of its infrastructure and dining room. Judging by the replies of its owners it fails to see its own faults. What a shame
