Rooms are a bit old fashioned but nothing wrong with this nice hotel. They have free breakfast, wifi, nice showers, spacious rooms with balcony. Parking for free was quite easy in a square near the hotel - so avoid paying for parking in the spot opposite the hotel.

Great hotel and staff. The hotel has a lift. The breakfasts were superb with everything you can think of. The owner speaks no english but is very welcoming and there is a lady on the desk who speaks good english so there was no problem. As you exit the hotel turn right and you can see the entrance gate to... More

Bit of a late review but better late than never, My girlfriend and I stayed here in July 2014 when we were touring Italy, we were only visiting Spello for one night so decided to pick this hotel for its proximity to the old town. We arrived via the train from Rome in the morning and took the short walk... More

Booked this one with the intention to use as the ideal hill village base to explore Umbria , in particular Assisi and Perugia. Found the Albergo Il Portanaccio perfectly sited in the minute urban area right outside the medieval walls and Roman Portas of boutique and unspoiled Spello. Well priced, neat and decent room with view (cleaned and refreshed daily),... More

Just outside the town wall, close to local supermarket and all that Spello offers, quiet, clean, good breakfast and helpful staff. Spello an old Roman town in the Vale of Umbria is a fascinating historic town to visit.

The hotel is located near the entrance to the old town (near to piazza Kennedy). The price was 45 euros per night. The personnel was friendly but with very poor English. Only one lady spoke English. The room was clean, with good bed. The bathroom was small but clean. The towels were changed every day. The disadvantages: no fridgider and... More

We arrived very tired after walking many hours and the room was dark and very old. The shower room was the smallest ever! Maybe we just had a bad room. The breakfast was quite OK. The best things were the restaurant next door and the nearness to the train station.

This cozy family run hotel is listed as a 2 star hotel, but this little gem surpasses many 3 star hotels that we have stayed in. We loved the staff; we relaxed in their comfy "Italian" lounge where we had free breakfast every morning, which always included a freshly baked loaf; the linens were beautiful; and it was super clean....
