We traveled in Mardin in April 2015 and we felt secured, considering the syrian war. It is also true we did not wonder the street in the night. The hotel has an impressive panorama overlooking the Mesopotamia plane. The nine hundred years old building felt like a museum. The room and bathroom were very clean. Parking, one hundred meters away...

We only spent one night in this hotel, which was a mistake. We had the Mesopotamia Suite which is just incredible (see the pictures). The top of the hotel used to be the bazaar. Beautiful views of Mesopotamia from on top of the hotel, and right out the window of the room. We had a driver drop us off, but...

The location of this hotel couldn't be more romantic: in a beautiful centuries-old house tucked away in Mardin's narrow streets with spectacular views over the plains of Mesopotamia. We stumbled across it quite by chance when asking a man on the bus into town directions to another hotel. He said he would take us there and that it was a...

I have not stayed here, but it wasn't for lack of trying. On March 26th, 2013 I received confirmation of a reservation at Kasr-i Abbas Otel, for a 2-day stay in late April. On April 8th I received an email detailing that our room was given away to another party for one of the days, and we now had a...

A truly authentic experience! A fellow bus passenger called the hotel for us ( as the hotel suggests you do) as we pulled into the octogar. The hotel staff was there right away and carried our luggage through the winding walkways to the 1000 year old building. We found passing through the veggie stands etc. and all the twists and...

The hotel is over a 1000 years old and located in a labyrinth of narrow streets at least as old as the hotel itself. The hotel staff are happy to help with directions and even as an escort as I occasionally needed. The rooms are QUIET, they are located in a massive stone building after all, the staff has made...

Me and two of my foreign friends from France wanted to spend sometime on another part of Turkey; something different from Istanbul and other well known parts of Turkey. Our visit was all fine except for the hotel; no airconditions (which is essential in Mardin especially in summer), minibar is not working, empty and smells.Bathroom is not clean and not...

We are so sad to write this new review regarding our special feeling about Turkey. We travelled with turkish friends from Istanbul from 8th july until...

Open less than three months, Kasri Abbas is located in a 1,000+ year-old stone building that once housed seven families. Excellent stonework and stone carvings abound. Extremely large guest rooms, a wonderful view and only 120 Turkish Lira for two guests produce exceptional value as similar hotels in Mardin are 2 - 4 times the cost. The location is a...

“The Mesopotamia Suite is definitely worth a splurge if you can afford it. But if not, the other rooms (we saw a couple of them) would also be good choices.”

“We stayed in the very large and beautiful "Mesopotamian Suite" with views out over the plains. It was like sleeping in an ancient stone castle. Absolutely the most authentic lodging we had during our 6 1/2 week trip.”
