Detailed Reviews
I would highly recommend this place. Was here with my husband and we enjoyed our stay here all 4 days. From the time we check in till we check out the team did not fail to impress us. Jip and the team was really friendly and helpful. They have the best chef in the whole Juara village and beers are available as well. The price is very reasonable.There were some board /indoor games for you to use in the cafe. My room was the tower room type. No complaints as the beach was few steps away. Room comes with basic toiletries, towel. The space is just nice for 2 people. There is upper deck for you to chill as well. Surprisingly there were no mosquitoes. The team can help you to book snorkelling trip,motorbike rent, 4w drive etc. Everything can be sorted here. The room does not come with tv but I think that’s is expected as U were supposed to unwind.
There is only 2 thing I would suggest to consider for improvement:
1. Breakfast- it was quite boring with only 3 options . Still fine if anyone staying for 2 nights
2. WiFi connection- however u can purchase a WiFi connection from the hotel next door.
Even then this is the best hotel ever we stayed in tioman. We are planning to come back with our family.
Thanks to jip and team for making the holiday so enjoyable.

We arrived to Tioman for kids camp week and decided to stay in the hotel closest to the camp. This is the last hotel on the beach - quiet location with unforgettable sunrise around 6:30 am. Staff is super friendly and polite.
Bungalows are best for two people. Beds are large and comfortable, bedsheets are spotless, AC works great, water heater does the job. Wifi could be better, but ok to keep in touch via messaging with friends and family. Ask Jip for local activities recommendations.

We stayed couple days with friends, the place is excellent , the little houses are clean and nicely decorated. Every night they do small activities like karaoke and stuff, it’s very fun. You can also rent surf boards, and have fun in the pristine beach, I wasn’t expecting surfing in Tioman, but I’m glad I did, they husband of the owner gave us classes, besides the fact that we all suck at surfing, he never lost hope, quite impressive.
Only downside is the breakfast, but it’s included so it’s actually alright

My husband and I stayed at Coconut Grove for 5 nights in June.
1. The Room
The room is clean and cozy with basic amenities. They provide you with:
(i) basic toiletries (but it would advisable to bring your own toiletries);
(ii) 2 in 1 coffee, tea and sugar;
(iii) a glass bottle which you can refill at the restaurant; and
(v) electric kettle (please check if the kettle is clean before using it).
The room comes with air-conditioner, a fan (the speed cannot be adjusted) and hot water. Enough to keep you comfortable on the island. They strive to be eco-friendly and as such they do not provide you with bottled water. Mobile data coverage on this part of the island is quite bad, and if your room is close enough to the restaurant, you can get intermittent wifi signals. Perhaps internet connectivity is not prioririty if you decide to go on an island holiday. Coconut Grove is a great place to visit and disconnect. The bed is not as comfortable as we expected it to be, but if you have a day filled with activities like diving, you will be too tired to notice).
They provide you with towels for your room but they dont provide beach towels which we find odd since most of the patrons would be frequenting the beach opposite Coconut Grove.
2. The Staff
The staff are super friendly and nice. They are always smiling and filled with positive energy when we meet them. They even took the trouble to check on my husband and me because we missed our breakfast at the hotel and was not in our room most of the time as we were out for our dive trips.
3. Food
The free breakfast served is sufficient to start your day with. There are better options of Malaysian food such as roti canai, nasi lemak and kaya and toast just down the road at MyCafe and other stalls.
You can choose to either have your meals at the hotel restaurant or try the local cuisine nearby.
4. Location
Coconut Grove is located next to Juara Turtle Sanctuary. It is quiet (except for ocassional construction noise coming from the Barat, next door) and quite green. I love the green landscape within the vicinity of Coconut Grove.
The beach is located across the road from Coconut Grove it is clean and beautiful. The waves are quite big on Juara Beach and not suitable for kids to swim.
We came to Juara for a dive trip, as we have been frequenting the other side or Tioman Island for years. The waves are bigger here and the underwater landscape is different. It is definitely worth a try.

We stayed at 1511 Coconut Grove for 4-5 days. The Staff welcome was a highlight, the room was lovely, I ADORED the roof, we were right on the beach. Breakfast pancakes were great. REAL coffee, Beers started at RM7, they even had some wine available. It was just great. Definitely going back! Lunch and Dinner food could be a little more fresh (more salads and more freshly cooked veggies, less of sauces in a jar) but that's really the only thing I would think of. Perfect for a simple getaway. Nothing luxurious, just classic back to nature style :-)

I enjoyed my 3 nights stay here. The only complaint i have is i and my son waited at Tekek jetty for our transport, which Jip in his email’s response that transport would be arranged but did not turn up. For this i did not want to give them 5 stars for this review. They should serious review such oversight and not repeat it again. Other then this , i am happy to stay here and will stay here again if I visit tioman again. The hotel is nested at the far end of the concrete pavement (also served as the only runway for vehicles) fill with beautiful greenery surrounding setting. Room is clean and well equipped but without TV (i dont TV is needed, the wifi signal is good and enough to keep you occupied if you want to connect to the digital world). We took all out meals here and I considered foods is above average and the price is reasonable. Staff is helpful and friendly. One thing the hotel can improve is to set up more beach facilities such as more beach bench. The current sets are too few and lack maintenance. I and my son brought ourselves with foldable field chair and we really enjoy sitting close to the sea enjoying the sun rise and in the evening looking at sea and the azure skies.

Tioman is a gem. We absolutely love 1511 Coconut Grove! It's cosy, hospitable, quiet, music ia good and the food is great. The internet is sketchy but who wants socmed and work when you are on a break?! There's a turtle hatch next door and we went to release some baby turtles. Lots of warungs along the Kampung Juara stretch for you to go warung hopping. The sea is rough in the morning but pleasant in the evening. The seabed is flat but you can snorkel at about 100metres from it.
The only reason I'm giving it a 4 instead of 5 is because I like them to repair their beach chaise, the e-tricycle, and maybe put on some hooks in the bathroom for us to hang our towels because I love to come again! 😍😍😍

We really liked this place - simple and basic - and all the better for it. Flash resorts would spoil the charm of Juara. The staff here are so helpful and friendly and work so hard to give guests a wonderful stay. You can hire bikes and mopeds, kayaks, ask for a takeaway lunch, take suggested hikes to nearby waterfalls - Juara is a lovely place to be. The beachfront chalets are lovely. The bed is comfortable. Breakfast is pretty good. The grounds are really lovely. Would highly recommend this place .

Good value , great food, helpful staff. Highly recommended for a chilled stay. We did the snorkelling trip which was brilliant and saw baby turtles at the conservation centre next door. The rooms have front porches with hammocks the beds were comfortable and the rooms have air conditioning.

Really lovely relaxing place (no TV to distract) with broad expansive beach in front. Food is really good as well. Loved that you could hike to a nearby (45min) waterfall and soak in the cold water. Rooms are big but you need to borrow a hairdryer from the counter

It's about a 20 minutes ride, we had a 2 year old with us, and she was fine with the ride. Some areas could be steep, and some curves are sharp, and some bumps on the road. I think the adults were more scared than the kids 😉
