Exceptionally quiet. Nice little swimming pool, sun terrace and shaded area amongst the trees. Beautifully kept throughout. Our room in the gardens was pleasant and as described - no view but enhanced by the morning sun. We were attracted by the wonderful history of the place which would be more of an experience if staying in the main house. We stayed for 7 nights. However, had we booked this holiday independently we would have organised a twin centre (Ciutadella). Just our preference.

Absolutely great holiday. Thank you to the lovely owner and staff. Amazing x x Such a great location. In between Mahon and Es Castell. Easily walkable either way or get a cheap taxi. Lovely selection for breakfast. Spotlessly clean rooms, pool area and in main hotel. Very knowledgeable staff, who will be more than happy to help with anything. Wonderful history too.

We had a wonderful week at Del Almirante. We were in the bungalows by the gardens which were great. The room was a little dark but once shutters opened problem solved. The staff were great and very friendly. Special mention to Maria on reception who we always had a bit of fun with. The cleaners were always very busy and rooms kept spotlessly clean.

The positives The house itself is a superb historical destination. The pool is the best I have encountered in this size hotel. The location, equidistant between Mahon and Es Castell is ideal. Rooms well appointed. The negatives Most rooms don’t have a view and can be quite dark. No view from swimming pool area. Breakfast is limited and repetitive. Breakfast room stuffy. Staff don’t allow windows to be opened. Leaks to breakfast room ceiling. Unkempt grounds. .

Peaceful relaxing and spotlessly clean haven. Minor disadvantage is access to a beach for sea swimming. Close enough to walk to Es Castell. Easy access to buses from Mahon and Es Castell. Breakfasts delicious. Knowledgeable and friendly staff

Fantastic (Harry Potter ie unnumbered) upstairs bedroom. I think it was meant for a family but I rang TUI to say we had been before to this hotel about 40 odd years ago and would like a room in the house, as opposed to by the pool and we got it! Great view. No tv or kettle but we took kettle and tea bags and coffee. Air conditioned room which was lovely as temperatures went up to 35. Much too hot for our liking but we managed to get out early and walked into Es Castell or Mahon, about half an hour for each, then got a taxi back for about 10 euros.

A perfect escape from the hubbub of life a beautiful main house and bungalows around a pool. Simple but so well maintained. Don't expect a TV, fridge, or tea or kettle. The bar and kitchen have very strict times they open. But with a little Cafe and shop just over the road it is no hardship. Be ready to walk for meals out between 15-30 mins to next towns or village or local bus or taxi. Staff are so friendly and welcoming. If you have a high pressure job and want to chill out then this is for you.

This is a charming hotel, with an interesting colonial history. Thank goodness hotels like this still exist. Not everyone is looking for jacuzzi hot tubs, rooftop spas and TVs. We enjoyed a laid back and relaxing break, enjoying the simplicity this hotel has to offer. It is conveniently yet quietly situated just off the main road between Mahon and Es Castell, both offer a good choice of harbour restaurants. So it’s a case of ‘ eeny meeny miny moe, choose which way to go’.

What a magnificent little gem of a hotel that delivers 5* service!! It's like staying in a colonial museum, full of artifacts, furniture and paintings from its past. We were informed that, prior to Covid, they would carry out a weekly tour of the hotel and really hope they get permission to start this again soon, as we'd have loved it. We stayed in room 10, in the main house, which was large and comfortable, with everything we needed & the rooms are cleaned daily with fresh towels provided. The pool is perfect for the size of hotel and though I've seen some reviews suggesting that this hotel is not suitable for families, there were families staying whilst we were there, who seemed perfectly happy. We were only staying as B&B and breakfast was brilliant, and as expected when you stay in Spain or Italy. The staff could not have been more attentive, continuously stocking up and ensuring they didn't run out of anything. There is a peaceful garden area, with tables and lights, offering shade in the day and beautiful space to enjoy a drink or two from the bar in the evenings. The port of Mahon is a beautiful walk of just short of a mile away, with a huge choice of excellent, good value restaurants & bars along the waterside, as well as boutique style shops. The bus station is a mile away in the centre of Mahon, which has buses travelling all over the island, at great value. Only 5 euros for a bus to Ciutadella, on the other side of the island and about an hours journey. However, to get to some of the nice beaches would mean trying to coordinate a couple of buses, so we will most likely hire a car, next time we come. Many of the guests, we found, have been coming here for many years, which we can understand why. If you want a nice quiet hotel, full of charm and history, with a nice pool and stunning views of the harbour and fantastic customer service, look no further!
