We stayed at the Calan Porter playa apartments in apartment C11 on the ground floor. after enjoying our holiday here last year we decided to go back the apartment is however very tired and dated and needs much work done, but as the owner is selling up I can understand she don't want to refurbish, just be aware the big house at the deep end of the pool, when they are in residence they think the pool is just theirs and take over especially at night when they shouldn't be in there, and the amount of noise they make is inconsiderate to other residents, its such a shame because the apartments are situated in such a prime area, but personally I would rather pay a little extra and have a little more luxury and a better quality of holiday.
This resort is prefect if all you want to do is relax. Don’t get me wrong there are plenty of trips and things to do if you wish to be more active. This for us was a pure relaxation holiday. The pool and surround are excellent, sun from 08:00-19:00 the pool is lovely clear, clean and none chlorinated. Which makes it very refreshing. If you wish to pop to the beach you can walk the 10 mins down the road and down the hill or down the 180 steps straight to the beach. Beautiful beach in lovely cove, crystal clear water. Again you can choose to relax or hire a peddlo, canoe, play volleyball or use bar and restaurant right next to beach. It is mainly older people here which was great for us, all guest very friendly and the whole place seems very safe and easy to relax. There are some interesting walks and beautiful sites to see. We did go all inclusive, great chose of foods each meal. Very friendly attentive staff. We will be visiting again. One minor grip if you book through Thomas cook although great in uk. Your on your own in Calan Porter. No stars for Thomas cook.…
Love menorca it's been our holiday choice for a good few years.. Had a lovely villa and great base to travel and see the island... it's the perfect place you can relax but there's also a great atmosphere at night in the bars
Very clean and not over busy. The only negative was a old couple with their Ghetto Blaster ! Well a old radio playing Lionel Ritchie !! Excellent time for families , sun beds a little pricy at € 17 for two sun beds and a parasol, grab one from a shop and sit where you like . Just enjoy
We stayed in ST Thomas this year but hired car and re visited the resort and restaurants. In my opinion having toured the island the beach is on of the best . With its clear sand and sea and seed weed free . Public toilets adjacent and small bars for lunch . The town has plentiful good restaurant serving good food . More family place and couples
Perfect for relaxing with small children, calm sea, sheltered from wind, Shallow, and can see children at all times. There's also a little play area and Cafe that does gorgeous tapas. Best beach around. Son was snorkeling with the fish too!
Anybody looking for a budget break with no need for car hire should look at this complex in the heart of Calan Porter..just 15 minutes from the airport by taxi . Within the complex are Private & Residential guests and all properties are within minutes of the shared communal pool area with sun beds. The resort offers great bars, restaurants and shops along with some nightlife all within a ten to fifteen minute walk plus the superb local beach is twenty minutes away by foot down a steep road or steps and once there the beach is coved and safe. Would highly recommend this complex for families & Couples
This apartment complex is in 3 blocks, each have approx 12 in each. Pool is large enough and plenty of sunbeds, no early morning towel parade needed! It is very local to the bars and restaurants and is directly opposite the supermarket and childrens playground (open 6pm to 10pm). We did get some noise from the Supermarket with deliveries and you can hear the karaoke bar and music from others but these all finish around midnight. However the main issue and a massive one for us which spoilt our holiday entirely is that this is part residential and part holiday lets. We had the worst apartment on the complex, with neighbours from hell above us. A family with 2 very young children who were noisy from morning until midnight. The children were left to roam the complex unsupervised often with friends from outside the complex in tow. They tried climbing through our windows when we arrived. You couldn't sit on the patio as they made a nuisance of themselves. They stole the holidaymakers childrens toys, the mother did nothing but smack and shout at them all the time. They were allowed in the pool unsupervised, noisy and a nuisance.Totally spoiled the holiday for not only us but people in neighbouring apartments were complaining too. The apartment itself was compact, new kitchen, but other areas were tired and could have been cleaner. No wifi. Compared to some of the others which have been really nicely done out, it needs improvement. We booked this as a late booking 2 weeks before travelling and maybe we should have negotiated a better price but found out from others staying there that we had paid well over the odds. There were also no pictures available at booking apart from 2 of the kitchen, the website is under construction apparently, which I did think sounded odd at the time. I would have expected at least a mid holiday and definitely a post holiday enquiry from the landlord as to how our holiday was, but we heard nothing. I suspect that they knew about the issues with this apartment and kept a low profile. An ok complex if you get the right apartment, but personally wouldn't stay again.…
Just had to write this review after reading the previous review about "disgusting beach". My friends and I have stayed in Cala'n Porter for 1 week in September for the past 2 years now. The beach is lovely and very clean. There are sunbeds and brollies available. 2 beds, 1 brolly €17 per day. There are canoes and Pedalo boats with a slide available for hire, plus toilets and a couple of Beach Bars. We liked Rustic Cala Cafe. The downside for some maybe the steps to the beach....about 190. There are 3 sets of benches for you to stop and rest if required, and admire the amazing view. There is a road down to the beach with parking for cars. The road is steep in parts, so if walking we preferred the steps. Cala'n Porter Playa Apartments. Apartment B6 Decorated in all white, with lots of splurges of Orange. Really lovely summer accommodation. 2 Bed-roomed, 2 x twin, 1 king. Upper terrace. Plenty of glasses, crockery etc. Communal pool which was very quiet most days. The complex is quite small and seems to have a mix of local Spanish families, and holiday lets. A fair selection of restaurants, and bars to suit all tastes. In all good value would return again, and again. Hopefully the July incident was a one off, or a different beach.…
