Popped in, without booking, for a family Sunday lunch. Children in the party made to feel most welcome and were offered smaller portions from the full menu; a nice touch. Excellent food in large portions and an extremely friendly atmosphere. Excellent service and very good value for money. Steak & Kidney pudding is divine. Great selection of unusual ice cream...

My wife and I arrived in Lamberhurst about 2.30 after being diverted for some 20 miles from the Tonbridge-Tunbridge Wells main road. It seemed we could still get some lunch at the Chequers which was good overall. I can recommend this place for a break . There are some gardens at the back which would be pleasant in summer -...

We visited on our way home from a holiday as we had a hungry 6 year old and a screaming baby in the car. Glad we did as it made for a relaxing break that felt like it was still part of the holiday. Really welcoming staff lots of choice of food. Service was timely. Beautiful garden with lots of...

Last May a friend and us met up at the Chequers Inn and I immediately noticed the cleanliness of the Pub. As we are all O.A.P's there was a fantastic offer, 2 courses for £8.95. There was plenty of choice and the food was beautifully presented and freshly cooked. I recommended it to a friend, and she visited last week...

1st time visiting this pub, was passing by so called in for Sunday lunch. Unfriendly welcome at the bar but we persevered, wish we hadn't. The sides and veg were really good but the beef was awful, full of fat, and nasty bits that were totally inedible. When the waitress asked if we were enjoying the meal, I showed her...

Stopped here after visiting a nearby national trust property. Staff very nice. Ordered the beef roast dinner. Meat initially came up abit pink which neither of us like so asked for meat more well done. This request was handled fine. The meat though was a big disapointment. Fatty and sineuwy in places and tough to cut. Also had peppercorns on...

Me and hubby visited The Chequers after having travelling from Essex to play a round of golf at the local golf course. We were thirsty and hungry and found this establishment by accident and were so pleased we did! We both had the lasagne, salad and chips and it was tasty and very filling! We were made very welcome which...

Called in at lunch time on our way home from Scotney Castle . The pub was busy but we were welcomed warmly by the two ladies waiting on the tables. Our meal was very good indeed, so reasonably priced, but what really made it was how well the ladies served all their customers. They missed nothing and were always on...
