We only stayed here for one night. The hotel is clean and rooms comfortable. The ac worked well to keep the room cool and shower had hot water. The food and breakfast were tasty and filling. The hotel is very close to the Udawalawa national park entrance.

One night stay, I must add. But room was spacious and air con worked great. No mosquitos as no windows/doors are left open. Food was okay, had traditional rice and chilli paste and a chicken curry. Got breakfast to take out so I can eat while at the national park, which was handy. They have wifi but it didn't seem... More

Rooms - basic. Dinner - basic. Breakfast - basic. Beer - rip-off. A small can of Lion was 300 rupees (see photo of bill). I would suggest that the massive profit made on the beer should be used to purchase sheets which actually fit the bed. The stairs are very slippery and there is no handrail. I have never seen... The rooms themselves at Niwahana are basic but perfectly comfortable and functional. It is a 5 minute drive from the entrance to Udawalawe and they organised us a jeep for R3500 (park entry is extra - R3000 per person). Lunch was a Sri Lankan buffet and basic dinner was fine and reasonably priced. Sri Lankan breakfast (included) was delicious. The... More

No bed linen and when it did arrive it didn't feel as if it had been freshly laundered. Air con didn't work, bathroom tap didn't work, no glass for water, only one towel and barely covered me (size 12), curtains hanging off curtain rail and in need of repair and a good wash, lunch very unappetising and furniture in room... We arrived here around lunchtime and were not approached upon arrival despite booking in advance. We were told the room was ready and checked in soon after seeking a member of staff. The room itself was a good size (we had a family room, sleeping four) complete with air conditioning and a ceiling fan. However there were no mosquito nets... More

This place is absolutely perfect for your visit at the national parc. The entrance is only 2km away. The owner of the place is very kind and helpful. He arranged our safaritrip and also helped us to get a van to Ella. The food is very good and the rooms are very clean and big with an amazing view!! Thanks... More

We arrived without booking and fortunately they had 2 rooms for us. One person was quite ill, and the owner ensured he was quickly settled into a room with aircon. The other room we were given had a broken shower tap (which they suspected we had broken off!) but moved us into another room so that we could have a... More

Se stayed at Niwahana for 2 nights, boy did we get a lot of mosquito bites. Notwithstanding the insects, Niwahana is a nice, clean place. My room had ample accommodation for myself, husband and 2x young children and heaven be praised a warm shower. The restaurant menu is pretty much the same as all guesthouses in Sri Lanka (ie uninspiring... More
