Bambu was an absolute paradise, a super-wonderful haven! I can't say enough good things about it. We stayed in "Palapa", which had a bed, bathroom, and a deck overlooking the ocean on the "first floor", and a loft on the "second floor" with a bed,...More

I stayed at Bambu for 10 nights and loved it. San Augustinillo is very small and relaxed and seems to have a community feel to it. The beaches are vast and gorgeous. The sea was full of whales, turtles and dolphins. Bambu felt like a...More

We are travelling to Oaxaca this Nov and are thinking of staying at Bambu in a 1st floor room; looks like it may be cooler than the ground floor rooms with the options of opening the doors at night while you sleep. We have been enchanted by its rustic charm, quiet and oh so beautiful beach and excellent reviews, but we're a little worried it might be more like a hostel/backpackers than a hotel. Is this the case or am I overthinking it? We were also looking at some of the other hotels nearby that had a pool. Did anyone miss having a swimming pool to dip in after a day on the beach? Lastly, can anyone recommend any places to eat near by? From looking at a map it looks like there are more food options in Zipolite, is this easy to walk to or are there enough places in San Agustinillo to satisfy drink and dinner options throughout the day? We've opted for San Agustinillo instead of Zipolite as a base as it's quieter and looks like it might be better for swimming. Be good to hear your thoughts! Thanks so much!
