We spent two nights at the Rocks Chalet and loved it. Each room is very private and we had our own little patio. It was clean, very room and a nice place to stay. The reception folks were friendly and helpful as the signed for our bags which had gotten delayed.

A last minute decision had us land in the honeymoon suite. Very well appointed and a great space. The outside bath was a great feature and a great way to spend the evening. Plenty of privacy at this one and a very relaxing stay... close to town too.

The best feature of The Rocks Chalets is the way in which individual chalets are separated and set into a unique setting of karst rocks. The chalets are generous and tastefully furnished. Our bed was comfortable. We looked out into a private and peaceful dell, with a watercourse at the base, and surrounded by the afore-mentioned rocks and a variety...

This is what you get when the motelier gets it RIGHT. Nice chalets with lots of room and all the mod cons. Not fancy but clean tidy and everything works. Set amid stunning natural rocks BIG ONES!) and the grounds even have their own cave. Owners super friendly and helpful and they give you an actual small bottle of milk...

We recently spent 2 nights in the Fantail cabin at The Rocks. Loved it. If you're more accustomed to 5 star accommodation the first sight of the fairly dated cane furniture might be off-putting but don't panic.... I can't recommend this place enough. It's a fairly quirky set-up in that you haven't got a kitchenette as such in your room....

We loved staying in our spacious cabin at Rocks Chalet. After a hectic 12 days of touring, we came here on our own as we explored Golden Bay and Wharariki Beach. We and enjoyed the peace and quiet and seclusion, the very comfortable lodgings, and handy laundry facilities. Adding to the quiet getaway mood, we bought salad fixings and a...

Quiet, private, funky, unique. Comfy bed, great choice of mood lighting, Impeccably clean, wonderful friendly and helpful service, we were so impressed and delighted, we are planning to book in for an entire week in March (2017). The perfect place to get away from busy city life and the stresses of working long hours. Highly recommended.

We stayed two nights in Takaka and Rocks Chalets was wonderful. Had to change arrival due to earthquake a gale force winds in Abel Tasman. Pat was so kind to help us rearrange after a stressful couple of days. We had a lovely quiet time and she and Chris were terrific to recommend hikes and local restaurants. Ask for Fantail...

Great place for a night or a few in Takaka area. Location is good - close enough to town but far enough out. Good driving distance from Pohara, Wainui Falls, Rawhiti Cave, Farewell Spit and whatever else takes your fancy in Golden Bay. Owners friendly and welcoming and the resident chickens are the same! Chalet (I was in Tui) is...
