We had the 2 apartments that share a balcony, for us and niece and nephew-in-law. The larger apartment had a full kitchen and sitting area perfect for us to hang out together in the air-conditioned room, or to prepare meals to eat on the balcony. The pool and patio area were wonderful for long hours of relaxing and playing in the water, with enough shade to avoid too much sun through the day. Everything was in good condition, clean and beautiful. Ed and Lorie were great hosts, and we enjoyed the local beaches and restaurants. We highly recommend Villa Vista Mar, especially for small groups who want to spend time together in a great location.

The first time we went down in June 2016 - we knew we had to visit Villa Vista Mar again! We went early this year and came down late April and early May. Coming from NY- the weather down in Playa Ocotal was sunny, hot and just what we needed away from the chilly weather. We said numerous times "it felt coming home" :) Apt 3 was just as we remember! Comfortable, inviting and perfect for coffee, breakfast and even making a few dinners! Ed/Lorrie were incredible hosts as always! Making sure we always had everything we needed and having a wonderful time (even feeling under the weather) Villa Vista Mar is a place we will visit time and time again. They have gained two more regulars! Thank you for the wonderful vacation, beautiful views and great company!

We had to burn some free tickets we had so we spent some time researching going to Costa Rica or Hawaii. We have been to Hawaii a couple times and have always enjoyed it so we were leaning that way. In the midst of our research, we found out a friend of ours had visit Costa Rica a couple of times and stayed with Ed and Lorrie in the Playa Ocotal area and just loved it. We got the contact information, reached out to Ed and Lorrie and started looking at their area. The area looked awesome and Ed and Lorrie were great to work with over email as we tried to decide if we would head south. We decided to do something new and booked the tickets for early May. Travel was relatively easy and we flew into Liberia. Ed and Lorrie set up a cab to pick us up and take us to Villa Vista Mar which was great and we arrived around 10 pm. Ed met us at the door, gave us an orientation and even had purchased us a few things to eat and drink. He had offered to do this through email and it was great to have that waiting for us as most things were closed down at that point. The property is beautiful, very clean and super comfortable. We made great use of the pool area and loved the covered area with the gas stove, bathroom, tables chairs, etc. We loved the fact that you could keep cool beverages down there and get out of the sun as needed. From Villa Mista Mar you can access two awesome beaches by foot, a great little restaurant, (Father Roosters) and easily grab a cab into town. Ed goes into town frequently as well and was more than happy to give us a ride home. We did not rent a car and pretty much just relaxed at the pool, beach or town all week. Ed was so great, and even though he was sick that week, took us to town for groceries, took us to a great fruit market as well as a fresh fish market. I can’t say enough good things about our experience at Villa Vista Mar and we plan to go back as soon as we can. Mark & Kathy - Montana

My wife and I stayed at Villa Vista Mar for the July 4th holiday this year. We absolutely loved our time Villa Vista Mar. It is located in the wonderful, quiet town of Ocotal, with a beautiful beach away from the crowds. You're only five to ten minutes from Coco if you want something more vibrant, but some of the best food and drinks around are just down the hill at Father Rooster. This trip ended up being our favorite vacation ever, and it couldn't have been possible without our stay at Villa Vista Mar. The owners are amazing and they took time to help us find the best local spots to make our trip perfect. I still reminisce about our mornings spent on the patio, drinking delicious Costa Rican coffee and looking out over the Gulf of Papagayo, all while listening to the sounds of the birds and howler monkeys. This was the perfect place for us to stay on our trip to Ocotal to go scuba diving and to get away from the hustle and bustle of life in a quiet town. We're already dreaming of visiting again. Hopefully soon.

Because we had such an enjoyable stay in April 2016, we reserved the largest apartment for July 2017. Since July is the green rainy season, cost was the same as the medium apartment in April, which is very reasonable at $90/night. Huge windows in the bedroom make one feel like you are sleeping in a tree house! With a full kitchen we prepared many meals there. After a short walk to Playa Ocotal to swim & snorkel in the morning, cocktails at the pool in the afternoon were delightful. Ed & Lorrie offered us a ride into Coco to shop whenever they were headed over. A taxi back was $6. A trip to the Pacific coast would not be complete without a stay at the villa.
