The Relais Monastero Santa Teresa, a historical monument, is a Baronial Palace of the 13th century, which was converted into a cloistered Monastery of the Discalced Carmelites in 1600 following the donation of Baron Sambiasi to the church. Today, the Relais is part of an "Albergo Diffuso" composed of three noble palaces in the old town centre of Nardò, offering several services such as a gourmet resturant with panoramic terraces and an outdoor pool reserved to two special Suites. The Monastero offers itself as an ideal place to spend a relaxing holiday in an ancient and prestigious building, near the most beautiful beaches of Salento, the National Park of Porto Selvaggio and the most important baroque towns. The spacious bright rooms with antique floors and frescoed ceilings recall the charm of the nobility from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance. The balconies and terraces of the Palazzo offer breathtaking views onto baroque churches and the garden. The ground floor with its impressive high vaults sculptured by Tarantino and the medieval church, identifies itself as the perfect place for any type of ceremony and event.

Beautiful property. Got a room with a beautiful view. The host is friendly and has a great sense of humour. No lift so make sure there is a host or strong travel companion to help you with luggage up the stairs :) every bit of the hotel is a photography spot. Each suite has a different design as well. Love the sunlight shines into the property. Love the high ceiling in the room and the ac helps during my stay in the middle of summer. Everyone in reception speaks English and are very helpful when you need recommendations for restaurants and bars. They can also arrange drivers/ cars for you. Walkable to both new town and old town. Love the vibe in the neighbourhood at night. Pretty much quiet during the day as staffs come in to work at 4pm after they serve the buffet breakfast. Definitely recommend the hotel if you are visiting Nardo/ Lecce/ Santa Maria :)

This is a beautiful hotel and amazing value. The rooms are large and airy. The furniture and artworks give the place a wonderful atmosphere. The breakfasts are fantastic - homemade cakes and pastries were beautiful and eggs/omelettes cooked to order were a treat. The staff deserve a special mention though. They really gave 5-star service. They were friendly and very helpful, sorting out transfers for us because we had a problem hiring a car. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. We will definitely be going back there again!

This hotel is an old monastery and right in the historical centre of Nardo. The building is so beautiful and unique. We stayed here for 4 nights and booked a one bedroom flat. However only in the hotel we found out that the living area is shared. I only booked the one bedroom apartment as it was big in size and was not sure to book the apartment or the room. I think website should clearly explain and show the photos of the rooms clearly. When we talked to the manager about this matter his response was “you are looking for a reason to move out the room’ I found it unbelievable and unprofessional. Such a shame such a beautiful hotel is managed by unfriendly and unprofessional manager. However Sara who works at reception was lovely and tried her best to deal with our queries. Oh you are planning to stay in this hotel don’t have the breakfast in the hotel as in Nardo centre you can get cheaper and nicer breakfast in cafe Parisian.

We originally booked a room at the Relais II Mignano but received a message that they had an opening at their newer hotel, Relais Monastero. We stayed in the Gianelli suite. The bed was very comfortable and the room was massive. We had a lovely balcony overlooking the street and a pretty church. The hotel itself is an old monastery that they have been refurbishing. The building is beautiful and the owners have worked hard to keep the original artwork and special touches of the monastery. We had a wonderful stay there and will definitely go back!

A unique and charming experience staying in this grand ex monastery. It felt as if I were stepping back in time, to a truly unspoilt area of Italy. The owner was on hand to show the local sights and offer suggestions for evening entertainment . The rooms were elegant with enormously high ceilings and private terraces. The beds are super comfortable. Classical music and a water fountain welcome you in the courtyard. The rooftop views are spectacular and offer a blissful sense of peace.
