Its a 1923 backpackers hostel its old but very well maintained and clean. Full of history and character. Lovely place and well worth the stay. Basic facilities like communal kitchen and bathrooms are clean and tidy.

First of all we booked this place via Hotels.com. They gave it a 2.5 star rating which was very generous. We missed the small print during the booking process that mentioned there are no private toilets or bathrooms, everything is shared and down the hall. Even the photos on Hotels.com made the place look historical quaint and slightly up market,...

Would NOT recommend this accommodation The showers were communal and no privacy No locks The place was dirty and the badly planned kitchen area needed a lot of attention to bring it up to a reasonable standard One night was one too many

We were a group of 3, loved the place, loved the ambience. Extremely clean and tidy. The rooms are well equipped with all necessities (heaters/ reading lamps/ mirror/ towels etc) Great view to the sea. The best part was a cosy little reading area that the owners have created and they have some really good books as well. This is...

I booked this hostel through the internet. I always requested a late check in. However, the owner/manager forgot to leave the key for me in the receiption ( she only left a key for another woman who booked a bed in a dormitory). I rang the door bell and phoned to the manager hundreds of times but she still didnt...

Had 1 night here in twin single rooms. Beds were comfy, had reading lights over beds. Toilets and shower very basic but adequate. This place was charming and had lots of character. It had steps with lots of different levels. Situated on quiet street right opposite beach where we watched boats leave for Kapiti Island tours. Kitchen small but fine...
