Nice and clean hotel. Very nice and good rooms, super nice staff. Very nice beach but the water is lire cloudy but it is almost everywhere around these islands.
The beach bar was super cozy! Magic sunset.
We had rooms with pool access, highly recommended! That pool cooled much more than the big one and it felt fresher.
The only negative was that the hotel's restaurant was a bit boring, perfectly ok for lunch, but during dinner they could probably spruce it up a bit. Hardly saw anyone having dinner there in the evenings.
There are a few restaurants along the beach but they are all a bit samey. The large "wooden hotel" had a very good and cozy restaurant on the beach, however they charged an extra fee for guests who did not stay at the hotel.

This hotel offers good value for the price, though it doesn't quite reach the standards of a 5-star hotel by Thai benchmarks. It’s more in line with a solid 4-star experience. The rooms are spacious, well-maintained, and in excellent condition, making them one of the highlights of the stay.
While the overall atmosphere of the hotel is somewhat lacking, it may not matter to travelers who prioritize comfort and practicality. The most notable downside is the dining experience, particularly breakfast. The food selection is adequate, but the real issue lies in the availability of coffee. With only two coffee machines for the entire breakfast crowd, guests often face frustrating queues of 5–10 minutes just to grab a cup of coffee.
This bottleneck visibly impacts the mood of both guests and staff, though it’s clearly a management issue, not a staff fault. Addressing this problem could significantly improve the overall experience, leaving guests with smiles instead of morning frustrations.
In summary, this is a solid 4-star hotel with competitive pricing. If management resolves a few key issues—most importantly, the coffee situation at breakfast—it has the potential to enhance guest satisfaction considerably.

Very disappointing, staff unfriendly and overwhelmed. The water in the bathroom ran for 10 seconds, then there was a 10 second break, then water again briefly, etc. There were leftovers and small children's diapers in the hallway for 2 days. The resort was advertised as a 5 star hotel, but it is 3 star at best. For me - definitely not this hotel again.

Quiet beach front resort with a huge pool, with 8 reasonably priced local restaurants within walking distance. We ate at 7 of them (see separate reviews). There is also a couple of street food carts on the road right outside the resort. We asked for a quiet room on the top floor away from the pool. Our initial booking was 7 days, but we extended this to 17 days to soak up the tranquillity and clear sea water. We stayed in room C2 908. It was on the eastern side of the property which was bounded by the road to the ferry port. Occasionally we could hear cars but there are only 2 ferries a day. Some mornings we could hear the call to prayer from the nearby mosque but again not too noisy. The hotel restaurant is competitively priced, and we really enjoyed the same western dishes 2 nights in a row. The resort is clean with friendly helpful staff, and we highly recommend it.

The rooms and resort are clean, the few staff you can find are friendly and they are trying their best to do a good job under the circumstances they are given. The showers are cold and the toilet constantly blocks and no amount of going to the front reception changes this situation. The phone in the room doesn’t even work! Room service, forget it. Wait service by the pool was extremely hard to come by which was disappointing but dinner service was truly awful. Dinner the first night there was only 5 tables occupied. Service was almost non existent, with us virtually having to beg just to get drinks service. We then waited over an hour for a few of our meals to arrive, none of them coming out together, with the waitress then informing us at that time that one of the meals wouldn’t be coming AT ALL because it was too bad to be served. It obviously wasn’t the poor waitresses fault as she was trying her hardest, but it is among the worst food service I have ever received. The manager on duty assured us that it was just a one off and service would be better the next night but unfortunately the only way we were able to secure good service on New Year’s Eve was to ply the wait staff with lots of cash to make sure we were looked after. This SHOULD NOT have to happen at a supposed five star resort. Another shocking discovery was the fact that our door keys, which SHOULD only be able to open one hotel room can in fact open any room in the resort. This happened by accident as we are a party of 10 with 5 rooms between us and one of us accidentally used the “wrong” room key on one of our other doors. When it opened it we then figured out that all of our room keys were a master key to all the other rooms! This I find absolutely appalling and frightening. I dont expect to be waited on hand and foot when I come to a resort, but I do expect a five star resort to be a five star resort. Instead I have found a resort with no service, no security and room amenities that are more miss than hit.

I recently stayed at the Royal Yao Yai Island Beach Resort for the second time, and it was nothing short of perfection. The resort’s prime beachfront location is breathtaking, offering spectacular views and direct beach access just a few steps away. The staff was exceptional—always warm, attentive, and ready to assist with a genuine smile. Every meal was a delight, with delicious dishes that captured both authenticity and taste. The atmosphere, service, and comfort make this a dream destination. I can’t wait to return!

We were a big family, that just had our Christmas and new year in this Hotel on the island of Koh Yao Yai. The hotel is very nice and comfortable. The rooms are nice and big. The bed is specially nice. The pool is nice. The hotel is located directly on a clean and wonderful beach. Great location for swimming, kayaking etc. But you can not se any fish I you want to snorkel there. But you can go to other places on the island by scooter to snorkel. The reception is working with great level of service and efficiency, always with a smile. The breakfast is good, however it was obvious that the waiting staff was overwhelmed at it was first time with full hotel, so the service staff still need some systematic and training to handle the peak of breakfast, especially when it comes to remove used service from the tables. They try but they need more staff and education. The staff in the kitchen, and the supply of freshly made delicious breakfast dishes seems to be perfectly working the only small issue is in restaurant. The tables are slowly being cleaned and you may experience a small waiting time to get a clean and laid table at breakfast, cups and plates and so on. At lunch you must expect a long waiting time also. The other meals we only tried twice times dinner which was good, but there are some small restaurants near by if you want to try other local food, which clearly is recommendable over European. The food on Christmas and new years evening were good. But all in all. I will give the hotel a very good evaluation and will for sure be back if I get the chance.

Beautiful establishment located opposite a magnificent beach.
Very quiet location.
The swimming pools are pleasant and there are enough deckchairs and cushions.
The rooms are pretty, spacious and the bedding is comfortable.
Breakfast is just ok for the standard of the hotel and in my opinion could be improved. No pancakes, no waffles, no Nutella, the jam is not great... even though there were quite a few families with children. It's a shame.
We paid a promotional price on booking and the quality/price ratio was good. Otherwise, the regular rate is too high.
The hotel is quite large and it would be desirable to offer evening entertainment (eg Thai dance show, a small concert, etc.). Because there, the majority of guests dine at nearby local restaurants and the hotel appears abandoned in the evening.

We stayed here for 5 days in December 2022. It's located right on the best beach on Koh Yao Yai, the only beach where you can swim all day regardless of low tide when other beaches become mud flats. The hotel is almost new. Lovely and clean with nice grounds and a very nice pool. We were offered the chance to upgrade to a royal suite for a fair price so we took it and it did not dissapoint. Lovely room, big comfortable bed. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Reception staff are brilliant. This hotel has some flaws though. The food is average at best and a really limited menu. Breakfast was no better than a hostel, certainly not 5 star. The restaurant was empty most of the time we were there with people choosing to eat elsewhere, even in other hotels. There is no way to access the pool from the beach side, even the access from the restaurant side has a big step down (approx 30cm) so not suitable for anybody with slight mobility issues and unsafe for children. You can excess the pool from the other side, along the path, but this means walking through reception. It would not take much to put a step in along the access from the restaurant and also some steps up from the grass by the beach. Problem solved. Our room had a kitchen with a hob, a sink, a fridge and lots of cupboards but no cutlery, crockery or cooking equipment. Very strange. When the sun shines the balconies get very hot and so do the metal patio doors. The doors get so hot that you can hardly touch them and they also expand in the heat making them almost impossible to open. The runners appear to be very stiff and not at all well maintained. Overall this is a lovely hotel and we enjoyed our stay but these issues need sorting out if it wants to be classed as 5 star.

The rooms are a bit on the cosy side and you can have road side facing balconies. Beach access is perfect and amazing sunset views. Breakfast is basic so don't expect a lot of variety but you can have amazing seats looking out at the beach. We had requested nut milk but there wasn't any and being such a small island they couldn't/wouldn't get any. I didn't see any in the shops across the road either so just take your own things. Lots of space to lounge at the pool and beach. Pretty tucked away hotel so maybe not great for solo travellers to get out and about.
