Pros: - great for families, pool access directly from the room - location of the hotel is great, good restaurants nearby and the beach is beautiful. - The staff is friendly and they try hard to accommodate any requests.
Cons: - could use a renovation, everything is clean, but you can tell they closed down during the pandemic and are still recovering from it. - The breakfast buffet is focussed on Chinese guests, very limited options for “western” breakfast. Limited fruit options and if you are looking for a healthy breakfast, you might be disappointed.
Tips: - rent a scooter to get around the island, there are also scooters with side cabins available with some of the rental shops - take one of the kayaks from the hotel free of charge, head to the left on the beach and watch some monkeys in the forest - the restaurants in the hotel nearby are awesome, would recommend eating there at least once

For the first time, I write a review before completing the stay.... Of so disappointed I am. They advertise with a 5-star hotel and is not at all. Space itself is fantastic, but it is not only outer space that a person lives. Problems - Only 1 in 8 employees speak English, the others are friendly but do not respond Problems - It was in the 20th century a 5-star hotel, but now it is not Problems - Confused breakfast, little food, very limited variety for Western tourists. Problem - Beach sand and water beach slightly dirty Problem - tired rooms, hard bed, noisy air conditioning.
Those who follow me know that I'm not a bitch, but I'm frustrated and disappointed with what I found.
Good thing - Wi-Fi and seemingly always attentive staff (but don't understand anything we say)

The hotel is a large complex intended for a large (Chinese) clientele. It is very well located with direct access to the beach and close to small restaurants. The rooms are pleasant, clean and well maintained. As the Chinese clientele has not yet returned since Covid, the services are rather average due to a lack of staff who are nevertheless very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is very average and there is no possibility of lunch or dinner although the dining room is huge. Ko Yao Yai being renowned for being wilder than the rest of the islands in the region, it is not surprising that the tourist take-off is late and life seems "in slow motion".

The standard of the rooms is ok but a bit dated, and the location is good with several good restaurants close, but the hotel is totally organized, the staff speaks very poor English and knows almost nothing about the island or various activities. Breakfast is a chaos, everything is finished and you have to queue for everything. If you get a good price and do not intend to be at the hotel, it is a good starting point for excursions on the island.

And that was it. A perfect hotel for those who want to spend the whole day in the room by the pool together with splashing and screaming kids from Russia or why not a whole dozen Chinese spitting and sizzling.
Please take a look at how nicely you enter the hotel, with a large cow paddock.
The breakfast unfortunately did not have much to offer and the restaurant charges well. The location of the hotel is also not quite optimal on the island. Boring beach with cloudy water and lots of boats. Also stepped on a rock just a bit out. Ouch.
But feel free to go here and lock yourself in the room that does not measure up to a 5 Star hotel. The best thing is that you have direct access to the neighbor so you can see everything they do.
Overall nice island but very dirty. And expensive in Thai terms.

Nice hotel with access to the beach. The rooms offer comfort and calm. Opt for the pool-access rooms to enjoy the swimming pool with ease. Buffet breakfast with a wide choice. Excellent value for money.

On arrival we were very impressed with the beautiful room and pool access off our own terrace. However at around 4 pm boats started arriving loaded with young Chinese. Hundreds of them. This is daily occurance and the Resort then becomes a Chinese Holiday camp for the night with a special Chinese buffet and very load Karioki music till late in the night. By 8.30 am the next morning they all leave and then the Resort is deserted till 4 pm when the next group of Chinese arrive for the same thing overnight. We decided not to eat at the Resort but walk to other Resorts on the Island serving western food. Breakfast is included at the Blue Bay but the offering caters mainly for Chinese guests. It is very wrong that the Blue Bay Resort does not inform guests that this Resort is really only interested in the hundreds of young Chinese guests arriving each night for the special package offered to them. We will not return.

We stayed at Blue Bay Resort for eight nights over New year's. The rooms are lovely, clean and nice, and the pool that stretches past the rooms are great. The staff, although not very good at speaking English, were very helpful and nice. However, this hotel caters specifically to groups of Chinese tourist tours from Phuket. The boats arrive in the afternoon with 300+ Chinese tourists that spend one night at the hotel. They have a special dinner with a show and sing karaoke through the night. This happens every night - the same routine with the same food and dinner show. This caused us to enjoy our dinners and nights at the other restaurants further down the beach. During the day, the resort is pretty much abandoned with few guests and no activities.

Blue bay Koh yao Yai seems to have boatloads of tourists coming in every night by the beach. They tried to come into our resort by the beach to the Santhiya. They sing karaoke all night, drink beer and eat Chinese bbq, very disturbing sight actually, they seem to do this every night all night, not good for hotel guests, do not book! Book at Santhiya Koh Yaio Yai
