This rating goes for the spa area, not the hotel. And the experience was quite good. Don’t remember the entrance price but it was more than decent. The area is not extremely big but good enough for swimming in warm water when outside is freezing cold. A funny water slope, the lightning is pretty cozy and the outdoors pool (not opened below -15) a delight. Clean in every corner, the changing room with locker is big enough, plenty showers and has a sharing sauna. No drinks or food inside so better come prepared.

We only visited the spa. It was very crowded, but otherwise seemed good. Lots of pools and everything was fancy and clean. It was a great disappointment to find out that the water was cold in all the pools, including jacuzzis. We had to visit saunas often to stay warm. The outdoor jacuzzis were nice but again we had to leave soon, since the water was not hot. There was also a therapy pool with massage etc. but out muscles were not relaxed in the cold water, and this spa did not help after long skiing days. Saunas were good, the ones that were not broken. There was also a slide, but our children did not want to go, due to the cold water. The warm/cold walking area for feet was nice. The spa had everything they need to be an excellent spa, if only the water temperature would be anything like in the other spas. For example Caribia in Turku or Viking Grace spas are wonderful and hot. Also, the ticket prize was higher here.

This was our 2nd visit to this hotel - first time 18 years ago. It has aged well and still offers a good base for your trip to Levi. Room- We had a standard family room in Sammal block which was just across from reception. The room came with double bed and a small room off it with bunk beds and wardrobes and a desk with mirror. There was also a small kitchenette with small fridge, microwave, coffee machine and kettle. Plates, cups and basic cutlery also provided and a cloth and washing up liquid. The room didn’t have a sofa but did have a small table with 3 stools and a chair. All very functional! Iron board and iron and safe all provided too. The only complaint was we kept banging our heads on the bedside lamps as right over the beds! The shower room was a good size and came with hairdryer and a drying cabinet - so handy for drying ski boots and clothing! Only hand wash and an all in one shower gel and shampoo provided so if you like something a bit less basic bring your own shampoos etc. We had room 918 which was on the too floor (only ground and 1st floor in each block). It was right at the end nearest reception so just a quick scroll across the car park to the main hotel building. Couldn’t have asked for a better room position. We also looked out on to the road rather than car park. Food- We actually loved the food and looked forward to our breakfast and dinner (you have to wear a band on your wrist to show you are half board). There was a good variety and we regularly had 4 courses at dinner. There’s not a huge buffet selection compared to say an all inclusive hotel in Spain etc but we left very happy after every meal and felt quality was excellent. The carrot cake was amazing and we got addicted to the Lor coffee machine coffees! Juice and water also freely available to help yourself. Don’t forget the waffle station at breakfast too! Would like to mention the chefs and also the friendly staff who cleared away the tables - you all do a great job! You can now buy an alcoholic drink with your meal and I think dinner is now on till 10pm. The pizza and other restaurant now open too for a change but you have to pay but I think you get €7 from half board towards your pizza (we always go to Koti pizza as a tradition on our first day- this was our 8th time to Levi). If you are fussy then maybe you may struggle and I did see allergy information and gluten free bread etc) Spa- We used this 3 times during our stay as included in the price of the hotel (gym is extra at €10 so didn’t use that). Locker keys are provided free but you need to take your own towel. It’s very clean but found some of the pools a bit cool - go upstairs and sit in the small pebble pool- much warmer! You must try the outdoor hot tub but you need to be brave as very cold swim outside and then you need to walk into the hot tub - be careful path can be icy! There is also a Burger King and there is an indoor play area which is closed due to covid but for a family then this is a good choice as very central. 5 min walk to the front slopes if you are skiing and ski bus outside to take you to south slopes if you are a beginner and don’t want to attempt to ski over! We had a great week - all staff we met were helpful and friendly and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel! We always book with Inghams as we come from the U.K. - we find them to be excellent all round. If you have any questions regarding visiting Levi or Yllas please message me - happy to help! We have been going for 24 years and love it!

Few days before travelling Finland changed covid restrictions, basically everything shuts down at 6 pm and was to late to cancel holiday. I need not have worried. We arrived short transfer from airport and quick check in. Our room was in block 9 very close to reception and dining area. The rooms are very spacious and have a small kitchenette, ironing board and drying cabinet. Large comfortable bed. Rooms cleaned except Sunday, housekeeping staff always polite and efficient. Recycling bins in room which is excellent. The dining area is ok we would have usually eaten out a few times but due to covid restrictions this was not an option. Thankfully the buffet was open 5pm till 8pm, breakfast 7am till 10am. Breakfast choices were excellent and tasted good. Evening meal food was good but by second week a bit repetitive in choice although in all fairness I never failed to find something to eat coffee machine was excellent and you could have some berry cordial all included. Staff were always pleasant in the dining area. Just would have been nice to been able to eat out but didn’t ruin the holiday. There is a spa “water area” with various pools saunas and slides which we visited on three occasions which is free for Ingham’s customers it’s usually a €20 entry charge and was a nice place to chill or exercise, you have to take your own towels. The hotel is conveniently located for the town for bars and restaurants if they were open lol and very near to zero point for snow activities. There is also a frozen lake nearby which is a nice walk and a good spot to see northern lights. My only complaint is lack of a lounge area to relax and no cafe or bar area only hotel dining area and pizza and al la carte restaurant which was shut due to covid restrictions. A very enjoyable stay despite covid restrictions and got to see plenty of this winter wonderland, I even seen the northern lights from the hotel car park.

The hotel staff are very friendly and welcoming. The accommodation is spread out in several blocks, all within 5 minute walk of the main hotel where the restaurants and spa/pool are located. We had a family room, whihc was ideal. there was a double/twin beds, a kitchenette, TV, bathroom, cloakroom area and a separate bedroom for kids with a bunk bed. In the bathroom there's an large drying cupboard, to dry your ski/thermal clothes everyday. The buffet restaurant is in the main hotel, the range and quality of food on offer is very good. we were half board, so we ate our breakfast and dinner there most days. The staff were very helpful and always there to get anything that you need. The pools are amazing, the best in any hotel I've ever stayed in. There's such a large variety from a normal swimming pool for lengths, a young kids/babies pool area, a slide for all ages, a pool with jets above and below the water, a circular pool for fitness circuits, a hot pool to relax in, 2 hot tubs, a few cold pols for the hot/cold treatments and an outside pool that you get to by swimming from indoors to outside then get in the outside jacuzzi, cold but worth doing for the experience. The hotel is located a 10 minute walk to town where there's a supermarket, shops and plenty of restaurants, the ski centre, Zero Point, is a 10 minute walk. We skied every day & also went on quite few excursions organised by our tour operator, Inghams. These can be booked locally but we did this all in advance.

Reviewing the spa. Went with young family and had an amazing time. Place is well set out. Lots of pools. Kids splash area. Lots of hot tubs. Great pools for playing in. Very safe shoot. Outdoor pool which is freezing and makes the outdoor hot tub even better. Staff very attentive.

Our family holiday to Lapland this year was great, but I left the accommodation thinking that we should have stayed somewhere else and where would be better if I were recommending somewhere. Here’s why: - we booked the largest family suite in the Sammal building and the room was spacious. The bathroom was the plus point, with a sauna and separate WC. However, the lighting in the bedroom was depressing! There was no thought to mood lighting and how to brighten up a room. Considering there is only four hours of daylight at this time of year, the lighting didn’t make us want to sit and enjoy the time in the room. - the food was buffet style only, with the restaurant packed full of other family’s trying to crowd round and feed families within the 90 mins we had for dinner. Again, the lighting in the dining area was either too bright in some places or dim in others. It felt more like a canteen than a restaurant. And the food for children was on par with a fast food provider. There was an option to pay for pizza in a separate area, and an a la carte restaurant that had a menu of two options on it. Given it was a 7 night holiday, the food became boring. I wouldn’t recommend doing half board at all. - check out is at 11am. The experience after this was a disaster. Given that we left on a change over day, there was at one point I counted over 100 people (adults and kids) crowded into the reception area waiting for coaches back to the airport. The bar area of the pizza restaurant was closed, but families with young children and babies started to settle in the empty sofas in the bar area to sit comfortably and wait. At which point the staff switched off all the lights around them and said the bar was closed. A further staff member then ordered everyone out of the area and told people to wait in the (overcrowded) reception with stone floors. Children and adults were sat in floors up against the walls waiting. I found the whole experience completely unbelievable. There seemed no care for either the comfort of any guests, nor the appearance of what looked like refugee centre in the reception. Surely if the hotel are going to accept holiday companies to book their guests in at this hotel, they must be prepared for the change over day and the transfer times. They came across as complete novices to this and left many families with a sour taste of the experience. So, there are some plus points; - extremely close to the town centre and easy walking distance to the slopes - the swimming pool was ideal for families, although you needed to bring towels from your room, which meant you ended up with chlorine towels for a day. - the sauna in the room was a nice touch and needed. Overall, if I chose the holiday again would I stay here? Probably not if the issues remain. Speaking to other families, those staying at the Crazy Reindeer seemed to have a far better experience.

Like many people these days I did not make my booking for this hotel through their own web site, I made my booking through Hotels.com. It's possible that if I had made the booking through the hotel site I might have been forewarned that the spa facility was not open on the day we were staying. Given that we were on a brief tour in Lapland and only staying overnight here it was particularly frustrating to have driven from semi to arrive in time to enjoy an afternoon in the spa - Nope. Having arrived we then had to wait 15 minutes while the receptionist dealt with two customers ahead of us. When you have a reservation and just want to check in it's quite frustrating standing in reception while the receptionist explains to people who have not booked a room what their options are, the prices etc etc. No sign of any other staff etc. The excuse that spa was closed on certain days because of Covid sounded particularly ridiculous - I presume I was charged less because the spa was closed?? Our suite was very nice and no complaints there other than the very few capsules of coffee provided with the machine in the room. Other guests having a karaoke session in their room didn't improve things....

The Spa it self was nice with a lot of variety. Some of the saunas were broken, But it didnt bother us. The only thing that made the visit short and we would not visit again, was the ice cold water in every pool. Even the jacuzzies. One Hot tub located outside was warm, but other than that the water was really cold.
