Playa Maguana is the most famous beach in an area with a wealth of beautiful beaches. I have stayed at Gaviota Villa Maguana with my wife and with Cuban friends a couple of times. The price is around $70 a night depending on season. The staff are friendly and the rooms in the 2 story wood villas are very comfortable....

We had been lead to believe this was in Baracoa.. it is actually outside of Baracoa and takes about an hour to get there along a VERY bad road. We had to pay $50 each direction to get there from Baracoa, so if you want to check out the city I recommend you find somewhere in the city itself and...

Reference to to the review from MadziaJ from Poland. I do believe they got the wrong hotel. I spent time there last March of 2008 and 2010, at the Hotel Maguana, run by Gaviota. Hotel Villa Gaviota Maguana is the worst hotel I've been to. Problems begin just after leaving Baracoa city and after a while a stony road begins. We had to drive 10 km/h for about 15km . I've never seen such huge holes in the road ! The villas rooms are nice and the beach is beautiful, but everything is destroyed...
