Staff, food, atmosphere, fantastic. Popped in on off-chance. Sunday lunch the best I’ve ever had. Attentive table service, whilst pub very friendly and relaxed. Reasonable price. Building very interesting….would love to know it’s age and read more about its history
Had a lovely 2 night stay at the star inn. All staff were so welcoming and we had a lovely New Year’s Eve! Thanks again to Bruce, Holly and others. Accommodation was lovely a cosy, nothing was too much to ask. We will definitely be back when we visit pershore next!
Having had a lovely walk in Pershore we called for the first time for a drink. Young lady at the bar pleasant enough but we couldn’t be served as the whole place was taken up with a funeral party. Next time please put a sign outside! Even worse we had to pass a crowded area to follow the COVID one way system. Glad we didn’t stay not much evidence of social distancing!
We decided to come out to support local business to be greeted rather poorly by bar staff that were less than friendly. We were close to walking out. Most places we have visited have had a front of house that are very welcoming as we start to get back to normal. This place needs a little more training on customer etiquette.
We were attracted to The Star by the fact that it looked like a traditional market town pub with genuine home cooking. This is absolutely true. No fancy interiors but nice and clean with friendly service and excellent food all freshly prepared by two experienced chefs. The soup of the day was Mushroom and Tarragon, superb. The home made Country Terrine was also good and served with brioche. We opted for two starters and both had the Trio of Salmon, no complaints on this either. Good value and would certainly return when back in Pershore
The bar and restaurant area is full of character and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The location is perfect- right in the centre of Pershore, so providing immediate access to all the lovely restaurants, bars and shops in this delightful market town. There is a large car park at the rear offering free parking for patrons. The garden of the Star Inn runs down to the River Avon, so even at this time of year we could appreciate the beauty of the setting. The bed was comfortable, the room warm and attractively presented, and the bathroom had a huge walk-in shower. The cooked breakfast was plentiful, beautifully presented and tasted as good at it looked. There are more expensive hotels on the high street, asking for double the amount for a room, without providing double the value. We really enjoyed our stay at The Star Inn and hope to return.…
I spent the night here and was very disappointed. The rooms are very old fashioned - grubby carpets with stains on them, a black plastic bag covering something in the ceiling - a light, a hole in the ceiling?who knows? The bathroom had a new shower compartment fitted, but otherwise was like something from the 1970s. The carpet in the hallway was worn, again with stains on. The whole place needs a lot of money spent on it to bring it up to standard. The bar downstairs was dominated by a noisy group of locals swearing - they seemed to be known by management. Breakfast: very old fashioned - no muesli (just one serving packets of Frosties and Cocopops in a bowl), no fruit, no freshly squeezed juice, sachets of ketchup and other sauces. The service was desultory. The person who showed me to my room said ‘I’ve never been up here’ as we walked along the corridor, searching for a room that had a key in the door. The only thing modern about it was the price -£80 for a night. There are plenty of places around with much more modern, cleaner rooms, better service at a lower price. You can see from my profile that I have reviewed many places in many countries; few have been as disappointing as this. I felt ripped off.…
I took my sister on a Tuesday night, the service was friendly, the food was delicious and we particularly enjoyed our hot chocolates. The car park is difficult to turn into, and quite dangerous to get out of if the town is busy but I will definitely return!
This was my third time dinning at the star and I felt the need to review. The Star is always welcoming and the staff are both efficient and friendly. Last night five of us went in after a few mile trek. I have to say that every time I have eaten in there, it has been delicious. Yesterday was no exception!. My 11 year old daughter who is relatively fussy with food went as far as saying her burger was the best she had ever had!. All five of us cleared our plates and my steak was lovely. Well done guys.
We went down to Pershore to visit my Daughter, it was her partner that recommend The Star Inn to us. I am so pleased that she did, we stayed on a Friday and Saturday, checked out on Sunday. The room and bathroom were spotless, the bar and staff were very friendly and attentative, the breakfast was cooked to order and first class. It was very comfortable and reasonably priced, the surroundings are stunning and I would strongly recommend The Star Inn if you are looking to stay in the area
