Vangsgaarden Gjestgiveri is situated in Aurland, a small town idyllically placed in the innermost corner of the Sognefjord. Here at Vangsgaarden, the Ohnstad-Stigen family has welcomed guests for several generations and the hotel has preserved traditions that go all the way back to the 18th century. At our restaurant, Duehuset, you can taste some of the local food our town is known for. Vangsgaarden offers rooms, a restaurant and a variety of activities. Our hotel is located right in the middle of some of Norway's most powerful nature experiences like the Flam Railway, the Naeroyfjord and the Aurlandsdalen Valley. ROOMS In our hotel wing we have 18 rooms with beautiful views. In our garden by the fjord we have 6 cabins that are suitable for 4-5 persons.

This was our #1 favorite place in our 2 weeks traveling in Scandinavia. The scenery is just SPECTACULAR. We stayed in the deluxe fishermans cabin for two wonderful nights. Aurland is simply stunning and is surrounded by incredible fjords and scenery. The cabin is rustic but very comfortable. We LOVED being right on the water, waking up in the morning making coffee and sitting on the deck listening to the massive waterfalls across the fjord. We traveled in Oct so it was off season and we felt like we had the whole tiny town to ourselves. There is a wonderful Bakery, glass blowing artist/gallery and a great grocery store steps away. Stegastein Viewpoint was incredible. Aurland and the Fjord tour was the absolute highlight of our travels. We've been back home for 2 weeks now and we talk about our stay here every single day and how amazing it was. Incredible!

We stayed in the main hotel building and found it serviceable and comfortable. Each room seems to be decorated individually. The beds aren't big, but everything is pleasant. We enjoyed the breakfast. The decor in the common areas is very charming. The location is perfect. We also had a nice dinner at the hotel.

Such a cozy and wonderful room! Second floor with a view of the fjord—I could not stop looking out the window. Comfortable beds, nice amenities, coffee and tea complementary all day, generous breakfast with delicious offerings, including a scrumptious carrot cake! Convenient gastro pub and Spar grocery store nearby. Free parking. This was our favorite hotel in all Norway. Highly recommend!

The hotel has a fantastic location right by the fjord. The rooms are small, but everything is available. The staff was very friendly, the restaurant cuisine was great. The hotel is a good starting point to the picturesque surroundings including the Flam Railway.

I loved this place, the rooms have the essentials, but that view was unparalleled. The breakfast was basic, dinner was pretty good. The staff was super nice and I loved the basic atmosphere and great architecture of the fishers houses. I did travel in high pandemic times so this might have skewed the review!

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, me and my wife had a wonderful stay at the Vangsgaarden historic hotel. Room was excellent ... service and food as well. The staff was well prepared wrt COVID-19 contamination prevention. Breakfast was severed in a separate house with an individual pre-ordered (day before) ala carte breakfast menu.

What an experience staying overnight in a quaint cabin on the Aurlandsfjord. The view of the water is breathtaking and our accommodations at the Vangsgaarden were perfect. The breakfast was delicious and the staff very helpful in directing us to the ferry.
