“One of the top three places we’ve stayed in… ever,” was how my darling described Vismaya and I agree completely. It’s an oasis and, as was the case with most of our experiences in Kerala, it’s as much about the people as the surrounds. Vinod, our host/stylist has an acute eye for detail and his table decorations, made from flowers...

I planned a family holiday to surprise my mom-in-law for her 60th birthday but this turned out to be the best gift to myself. I have had the good fortune to stay in some stunning hotels around the world but this was so uniquely beautiful. The privacy is unparalleled, surrounded by the lake on 3 sides with only the fishermen...

This is an amazingly beautiful place and is so well worth coming to just chill out. We started our mornings but watching the sunrise as clam fisherman worked in their small boats in the morning light. My children just loved the area and especially the pool. They loved chasing the fireflies, cooking with the chef and fishing in the pond....

The translation of the Malayalam word Vismaya in English is Amazing. The owners could not have chosen a more appropriate name for this private retreat on the banks of the Vembanad lake in Gods Own Country- Kerala. Its Heaven on Earth With Just one traditional style building, in a fairly large compound, its very well maintained and has only only...

This was our third visit to Vismaya in consecutive years. What else is there to say? Blissful location, stylish accommodation, incredible food and a wonderful team of people who look after guests. We stayed for nine nights and it provided a much needed break from our usual hectic city existences.

We arrived late in the evening, the manager had not been properly informed of the time of arrival yet he managed to provide a wonderful meal for my husband and me without any fuss or bother. This villa is a curious mixture of old house moved piece by piece from another place in Kerala, and newly carved pieces of wood...

We went back to Vismaya after over two years and had another blissful stay. We arrived on New Year's eve and stayed for three nights. Vinod, our host, is special - taking care of everything you need. Chef Babu's food is fresh and phenomenal, beautifully presented to the table by Vinod. The whole team of staff work so well together...

The location of this property is really beautiful, it is very quiet and tranquil. Vinod does everything to make your stay very comfortable, you can even have a laugh with him, he can arrange a boat trip on the cannals, which to me is better than a houseboat on the lake. You see life on the canals which you would,not...

Vismaya is the most wonderful place we have stayed during our extended trip in Southern India. The setting is absolutely stunning. Vinod and the rest of the team are the most gracious hosts and made our stay here absolutely perfect. We booked a 5 night package in one of the bedrooms which included dinner, breakfast, a private back water boat...

I can only describe Vismaya as something else, different, beautiful, relaxing and cosy. I can only describe the last reviewer as also "something else"! I cannot comment on their personal opinion, however their rather privileged tone is embarrassing. Vismaya is stunning. Everything about it is full of joy. It is also VERY good value for money, I cannot believe anyone...
