On an island just a minut from Vaxholm you will get the most charming stay in unique rooms with fantastic service from a mother and her daughter. Nice, clean, comfortable beds, silent (just hearing the birds and the wind) and a fantastic breakfast. This island is connected with Vaxholm in a few minutes. Either with a big ferry that can...

My wife organised our trip to Vaxholm and thought the stay in the citadel with our young son would be fun... I was skeptical initially (communal bathrooms?), but it was great fun, taking the late cable ferry across, finding our room with >1m thick walls, admiring amazing night skies and views from the island, and very lovely breakfast in the...

We arrived with our own boat and there was free parking. Not possible to book place for boat but we had luck. Had a room for 4 persons that was perfect with comfortable beds. There was restaurant at kastellet for lunch that was good. They also had a really god play room for our 3 and 6 years old childs....

This is an ideal bed and breakfast for someone who wishes to visit an exotic, idyllic, romantic getaway from the city. Reasonably priced, this hotel is on an island near Vaxholm and is easily accessible by bus from the city followed by a ferry ride. The only downside is the wait (at times long) for the next ferry to the...

An adventure to be on an island and meeting ferry times each day. Everything worked and the hosts Eva and her daughter Lotta were both charming and 100% helpful and efficient. Best breakfast ever ... never tasted such good bread anywhere and a great sense of community with the other guests. Spotlessly clean everywhere. The ferry into Stockholm of just...

Very nice spot in the archipelago of Stockholm. The boats to the castell are free for Bed & Breakfast guests. We had a lovely room with shared bathrooms which were clean and neat. Breakfast was fine. There is no WiFi in the room. Service was good and kind.

This bed and breakfast is located within the fortress on this island. It is a true bed and breakfast in that the bathrooms and showers are not in the room. However, each shower and bathroom at the ends of the hallway are their only little rooms. So that really doesn't become that much of an issue. The room we stayed...

We spent four nights here with the intention of seeing some of the Archipelago by boat. The positive things about the Kastellet are The beds were comfy and the location meant that it was very quiet and peaceful. Breakfast had many choices of ham, cheese, eggs, bread , cereal, fruit and so on The coffee and chocolate was out of...

Comfortable rooms in a unique, historical setting. A short ferry ride to the castle takes you to an unforgettable setting. Rooms and shared bathroom facilities were all well appointed. Having been a bit apprehensive at first, we all loved our stay at Kastellet. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious.

So you have to take a ferry to get there and share bathrooms. Don't let that dissuade you from staying at this great place. How often do you get the chance to stay in a former fortress? The rooms are spacious and impeccably clean. The breakfast in the morning is enough to get you through lunch. The shared bathrooms may...
