I have hosted two yoga retreats here and I cannot say enough about how wonderful this place is. The food is so delicious and healthy. The atmosphere is bright and relaxing and everything you would expect from a beachfront oasis. It's smaller which is perfect when you want a place that you can have for yourself. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to host a small and intimate yoga retreat. THANK YOU!

We stayed two nights in May in cabin #3 which was by the pool. It was super close to the parking lot too - cabin #1 being the closest.
The bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable! The AC was cold, but when we first arrived it was a little warm, and when I turned on the fan, all the warm air from the loft above came down and made things worse. We left for about an hour and came back and it was perfect (but we were worried at first). It was actually freezing cold in our room that night, so the AC works great! Water pressure in the shower was great along with a clean pool, beach towels, bath towels, shampoo, conditioner and body wash.
The bar/restaurant onsite had fantastic fresh lime margaritas. Dinner was good - we loved the whole red snapper, I wasn’t overwhelmed with the mango chicken dish. Unfortunately we missed breakfast both mornings (7am to 9am).
Recommendations: remove spiderwebs outside. None were inside - so I can’t complain, but there were a few outside that were in frequently trafficked areas like above the reception entrance and above our unit entrance. I would also recommend better insulation/doors for energy and rain considerations… we noticed sunlight coming through the ceiling and the front door to our unit.

Wonderful place. Even though I arrived quite late, the grounds keeper was waiting for me and my room had been prepared (along with a note giving me all the information I needed). The outdoor yoga studio is heaven on earth and the instructor Christine was really nice. The beach is beautiful and pristine, as was the room.
If they hadn’t been completely booked for a large group, I would have stayed longer than I did, but everyone was really friendly and the owners gave me great advice about how to get around the country and where to go to get the best experience. I definitely plan on returning to Costa Rica again, as well as Encantada.

The location of Encantada Ocean cottages is superb, situated right on a long unspoilt, undeveloped sandy beach. The hotel has its own cabanas, loungers etc on the beach. The whole hotel is very attractive and the pool area offered very comfortable loungers and cabanas, open 24hrs a day. The food in the restaurant was excellent, cooked on a outside wood fired grill and also offered local craft beer. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed yoga on the beach (note this is at extra cost but very reasonable and the hotel provided a free smoothy at the end of the session). We stayed for 2 nights as we were touring the Pacific coast but if Costa Rica wasn't a 12hr flight from London we would definitely come for a week's beach holiday.
The only issue we encountered during our stay was noise from the neighbouring properties dogs who were obviously barking at wildlife early in the morning. However, most rooms in the hotel did not back onto this property - ours was one of only two on the opposite side of the pool from the reception area.

Wow, what a great place to relax and be pampered! When we checked in, we were greeted with a refreshing glass of fresh pineapple juice. The grounds are intimate and beautiful! We stayed in an upstairs room that made it easier to see birds on the trees and hummingbirds in the flower arbor. Some of the poolside cottages have porch beds in the shade, which looked so inviting! The hammocks in the shade at the beach are so comfortable. We paid for massages that were excellent and joined the morning yoga, which was enjoyable. The restaurant has very good and beautifully-presented food. We didn't not feel the need to eat anywhere else. The location is easy to find and the beach was pretty much deserted the whole time we were there.

Great little treasure right on the beach! Stayed in a small room but it was big enough for a couple. Clean and nice. The gem is the location of the place. Right on the beach with a lovely pool and very good/nice staff. When we were there (end February) there were very few people on the beach so one could make lovely long promenades without bumping into basically anyone. The breakfast and all other food was also more than solid. Nice feel to the dining area overlooking the beach. One could also rent surf boards and take yoga classes every morning.

The property is beautiful and in a lovely location that makes you feel like the beach is just for you.
Pros: All of the staff are kind and eager to help. They are also great to chat with at or between mealtimes and it was nice to get to know some of them. The resident cats are very sweet. The daily yoga offerings are a nice touch and seem to be well-attended. Drinks are well-made and the food at all meals is quite delicious. The rooms are a good size with comfortable beds and strong a/c, which is an absolute must in July. Housekeeping does a great job, although they are a bit eager a little earlier in the morning before I might like.
Cons: There is a pack of dogs next door that belong to the absent property owner. They howl at different times of the night and very early in the morning, so if you are a light (or medium or deep) sleeper this will affect you. Each day we were awakened before 6 am by these sounds. I sleep with earplugs and white noise on my phone but it did not matter, the sound pierced through all of that. I travel to CR several times per year and am used to the jungle and animal sounds of howler monkeys etc, but this is another level. Management is trying to do something about it but can't really do anything in all honesty. I highly recommend staying in rooms on the same side of the property as reception to cut down on this.
The power did go out while we were there but was back on within an hour luckily since there's no generator. I'm not surprised by the outage but expected that there would be a backup of some sort given the relative frequency of such things. Overall it's a nice place and peaceful with the exception of the dogs. I'm not sure I'd stay again if that doesn't get resolved, but for those who wouldn't be bothered by this then by all means go and enjoy.

The room was cool, large, well-appointed, and tasteful. A short walk past the clean, blue-tile pool took us through the outdoor dining area, then several more steps to a wide beach with stunning sunsets. The staff couldn't have been more helpful or welcoming. Breakfast included fresh fruit and terrific coffee. Lunch and dinner were very good, with fresh fish and excellent local dishes. I'd recommend very highly. Feel free to ask the front desk to arrange drivers to nearby attractions; we would recommend the Rainmaker Reserve as a day trip to a remarkable rainforest protected area.

This is one of the rare hotels that the pictures on the website do not do justice to the lovely cottages rooms and environment .
Although this small hotel usually caters to small group yoga retreats, we were lucky that there was a rom available for us for our 3 nights.
The individual cottages are spacious, comfortable and with lots of nice touches and stylish decoration. I have to say that the A/C was very welcome as humidity was still very high due to the ongoing rains. The rooms also has coffee and tea making facilities with local coffee provided .
Lovely restaurant view of the sea, nice pool ( rip currents in the sea mean limited swimming) . Great fresh food - lovely breakfast and friendly, helpful service from everyone .
Highly recommended , would go back any day!

The staff are wonderful! Bayron, Daniel and Shirley went out of their way to make our stay perfect. They are friendly, welcoming and accommodating. Everything was great. The very sweet owner, Tiffany, also checked on us, to be sure we were enjoying ourselves. We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner at their restaurant every day, but they are closed for lunch and dinner on Wednesdays. The food was amazing. We tried everything on the menu, and it was all delicious. The oceanfront cottage was very clean, with daily housekeeping service, a good size, has a big bathroom/shower and comfortable bed. The A/C unit worked well. We enjoyed falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the ocean. The grounds have beautiful landscaping, and a variety of birds! We enjoyed the pool every day, and usually had it to ourselves! If you are there at the right time of year, they have a Thursday happy hour with a band, and all the locals attend. This was a highlight and a lot of fun. They should have it more often! The beach is spectacular, and very private. My husband loved his long morning walks. He also surfed! You can enjoy beautiful sunsets, as well. We went on a wonderful monkey tour – highly recommend, as well as the waterfall tour. We truly enjoyed our stay, and hope to return again soon.

Our rainy season usually ends sometime in December. We can get rains in November and December but they are gradually getting less and usually in the night or late afternoons. It's tropical so the rains can be short and clear up out of nowhere. Most mornings are very nice and if any rain it usually won't start until later in the day.
We follow all the local government guidelines as well as best practices for hotels. All our staff wear masks, we have hand sanitizer in all common areas as well as the rooms, all rooms are cleaned with special disinfectant and we do temperature checks on our staff daily. Our common spaces are all outdoors and with good air flow making it very safe.
We have a full bar off our poolside restaurant which offers bar service for the full property.
We have happy hours daily from 5pm - 6pm at the restaurant bar offering drink and food specials.
We also have happy hours with live music at our beach bar every Thursday from 4pm - 6pm where we also offer drink and food specials.
January - April is our summer so it's dryer here and we have much less Mosquitos. We don't have many anyway being on the beach but we have less to none during that time.
Yes, the private transfer to/from the airport is $135 each way for up to 5 people. The cost can be split up between the passengers in whatever way they would like. For over 5?people it is $20 per person over 5 and up to 10 total in one car. I hope that helps but please let us know if you have any additional questions.
