It's a hotel for a budget. Arrived late at night, the checkin process takes some time. Room is spacey but got a room with aircon not fully cold as it should. Call a technician and they can't do much. Ask for a room change and no more respon after that. Breakfast menu is nice. Pool and some hotel parts is on renovation.

The Hotel have beautiful architecture if you see from the front. Big garden, and beautiful gate, and you think, "cool...!!!". I'm so confused to find my room. I get room with broken AC's (room no.23 if I do not forget), and the room have the broken sliding door's at the bathroom, and the door fastener is broken too. You must trying the AC and the bathroom before. At least, they have big bathroom, big bed, and quite room. Do not going to lobby at the night without long pants or anti-mosquito, the mosquito from the garden party at the hotel lobby.. I'm so confuse to going to restaurant, and the have good menu, and I'm love they breakfast menu...

I've been twice to Palu, and both times I stayed at Rama Garden Hotel. I think that the hotel is excellent, I really couldn't name a single flaw. The room was tidy and had all the comforts a traveler can expect in South East Asia, and the forniture was solid and comfortable. The hotel provides a swimming pool and a restaurant, the latter offering an indonesian menu at a reasonable price. I really appreciated the interiors, the hall in particular, which is elegant and spacious. The cleaning service is well done and fast, and I have to admit that the chambermaids are cute. The staff is always kind and ready to accomplish every (reasonable) request. I found the price to be extremely convenient. A real deal I heartly recommend to every traveller who comes to Palu.

I also stayed at the Rama Garden when the Swiss Bel and Santika were full. Rooms were cheap $35/nite, very comfy bed, nice bathroom, but unusable desk because of no plug for computer and the fridge under it. I was thrilled with an all no-smoking hotel but my smoking team mate was miserable. I was comfortable in my room. Everything worked well and no window wasn't so bad really. Noisy halls were annoying but not the hotel's fault. My friend, however, had a room with an awful shower that sent water everywhere but down and no internet. I think he was just upset about the no smoking so everything that could, did go wrong to emphasize his smoke stress. I was only annoyed at reception when checking in took forever. Lobby toilets were pretty filthy. Nice restos in walking distance too which is always a plus.

There are only a few options in Palu for a hotel which meet western standards. Rama garden is one of them, but this is translated in the price, which is very steep. The room we've got was the business suite (the standard and deluxe rooms were lower in price, but the deluxe room didn't even have a window!). The size was good, the bed as well, but basic features were missing (like reading lights at the bed). The bathroom was ok. The pool in the hotel is good in size but should be cleaned better and furniture around it is missing (so no relaxing in the pool area possible). The hotel is lacking a decent restaurant area and bar. The breakfast was failry poor for western food (the asian food seemed ok) The room is (local) business oriented, though there was not even CNN/BBC in the cable.

Responded 12 Dec 2012
Dear Mr. Lennart Thank you for choosing Rama Garden Hotel as your preferred choice of accommodation in Palu. Your review is really important to us and will definitely be a helpful guideline for us in the future. My sincere apologies for not meeting your expectations in regards to the rooms as well as the prices. However, we have made some major renovations to all rooms in which now all rooms have reading lights available. Moreover we have also installed furniture by the pool which allow guests to relax. The cleanliness of the pool will also be constantly monitored in which I thank you for the constructive feedback. Since we are currently doing some major renovations around the hotel, my hope is that by your next return, we would have completed the new building, in which it will provide a new restaurant and cafe. My apologies once again for providing breakfast that is not of your expectations. However, I can assure you that we are working our way into providing a more international quality for our food as well as our service. Once again I could not thank you enough for the feedback as this would definitely be a learning curve for us and will look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel. Please do not hesitate to contact me for your future stay. Thank you. Kindest Regards Hans Ang Assistant General Manager T: +62 451 429500 E: hansang@hotelramagarden.com A: Jl.
