Should be best place in Maldon shame on the owners it's filthy food terrible and no hospitality. Customer service is not on the radar nor is providing clean environment and edible food. Son sad that one of the oldest buildings in town has been left to go into such rack and ruin. Some call it quirky but it's just very...

Perfect ! Arrived on the last open night prior to some major refurbishing. Extremely comfortable room with magnificent furnishings. Beer being sold off at knock down price was just a bonus ! Great kipper for breakfast. Looking forward to visiting again having been assured that the refurb would not affect the historic parts of the hotel (a facilities upgrade). Many...

We have visited a few times before for food and have read the reviews but we have always enjoyed the food, the steak was cooked perfectly & the pork medallions were lovely. The place is quirky, the building amazing, full of character & we love the old music! It was our uncles 82nd birthday and had a lovely evening. The...

I often visit this pub to drink, it is an amazing building, with so much character. It is let down by the owner and his Wife who are constantly drunk (especially the wife) they're rude to customers and seem to completely neglect the whole building. I've been told by regulars that the owner and his wife are the only kitchen...

Not even going to waste my time on this. Just will never return. The owners seem to just wander around in a constant state of being pissed...talking jibberish and lording it up amongst the locals. The food was inedible during my stay and if they do have a chef /cook I never saw one...! A real shame as it has...

The hotel looked so quaint from the outside. We were late for Sunday lunch at 2.40 the restaurant was supposed to close at 3.30. But the owner said they closed at t hee. The food was horrible, we think it had been heated up in a micro wave. The service was none exist any as we payed for our food...

We were told to stay here for a friend's wedding in June, as it was the nearest town to where the wedding was. To be perfectly honest, if we hadn't been going to a wedding the same day, I would not even have unpacked my bags. Some would say the place is quirky, I would say it is dirty, over-crowded...

We stayed for two nights which was a big mistake, both owners a Jon and Sue drunk from lunch time onwards. Room dirty being an understatement, food inedible. Just like the last review owners not bothered. Do yourselves a favour do not stand or eat here

We stayed with a group of friends so were able to laugh through the awfulness of the stay. Owners obviously like nude paintings. Furnishings in our room threadbare. Blind falling to bits. Friends had cracked handbasin. Others shower not working. On reporting owners not bothered. We had booked dinner for our group on first night. 15 minutes before we were...
