Usually we all associate a vacation in the Maldives archipelago to a very expensive experience. Well, this might be true for most of the resorts, and we are glad we found out that Asdu is the exception you are looking for. It's a tiny island (if you swim all around the isle, it'll take you no more than 20 minutes)...

I have been to ASDU with all my family! We have 3 kids and everyone loved it! The hotel is really basic, but honestly we all had a great time, the island and the reef are great! The food was good, we had a nice glass of wine every single night, spent wonderful time at the beach, diving and snorkeling!...

The resort is the only activity on this small, white sands island, so you have the whole island to yourself. Although the rooms and food were not 5 star, the sheer natural beauty, spectacular warm water and reef snorkeling were well worth the visit. If you do nothing else except view the underwater paradise, you will be more than satisfied....

Asdu Sun Island is a small island surrounded by a beautiful reef full of fish, turtles and an occasional eagle ray. The reef is very accessible from shore. The waters are an unbelievable turquoise blue and the white sandy beaches are soft and whiter than white. The single on the island is laid and the owner and staff are accommodating....

I am visiting Maldives for 15 years now. The only island I have been to more than once is Asdu. The reviews here vary from paradise to hell. This is because you won't like Asdu if your expectations are too high. Which is hard to understand, since it is no secret that you book the only two-star-resort on the Maldives,...

We have been last December in Asdu Sund Island. My husband loves diving and someone suggested us this island for the wonderful reef and the sea. But this person told us to not expect for a luxury hotel since the Asdu Sun hotel is very simple (no warm water in the bathroom, no a/c etc). We are used to travel...

We have visited Asdu on several occasions, both in low season (August) and in high season (December/January), as far back as more than 15 years ago and as recently as January 2015. It is safe to say that abosutely nothing has changed over the years. Unfortunately, this means the island's infrastructure is loosing its lustre. The management doesn't seem willing...

I have been on Asdu Sun Island for two weeks (November/December 2014). To keep things simple (as the owner writes on the Homepage) is one thing, to not invest any money is another. Everything is in need of an update: bungalows, dining area, surroundings and especially the Food! The postcard (and stamps) I bought and posted on the Island, never...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Asdu is probably the smallest resort in the Maldives with an affordable price, apart from just one other more luxurious resort. This is by no means the cheapest resort. You may find other larger resorts of equal standard or of even better facilities with lower prices. We believe the small size of the Island ensures a certain degree of exclusivity, well worth the price we quote to our prospective guests. But we assure you that we have maintained a very consistent price structure over the last 10 years. This Island is especially ideal for those who love to be in a natural setting and prefer simplicity and informality on their vacation. Although the facilities are not deluxe, they are more than adequate and comfortable. ... more   less

“Rooms in the back (ca. 120-132) are quiet, but don't have direct access to the beach. Rooms 101-106(?) are in front of the beach but next to the generator. The beach front rooms (112 etc) have access to the beach but are often requested by repeat guests. We stayed in 128 and were happy. It was quiet and people did not walk in front of our door.”
