I'm writing this review as I'm currently staying at this property with family. We have booked 3 rooms for 3 nights 4 days stay at this property. Being Vegetarian Indian, we already mentioned our food preference at the time of booking. Nevertheless, We are extremely aggrieved with the quality of food being provided especially vegetarian food. Its been 3 days now, we are being provided same food repeatedly with no changes in food menu, same veg-dishes are being served for lunches and dinner even the salads is same for last 3 days, also the biscuits has been same for the last 3 days. The food served is cold and feels inedible. Further on dessert's front, they serve only 4 flavours of ice-cream which are same for all the days and only one egg-less variety of sweet which is finished within 30 minutes and bluntantly we are told that no further egg-less sweet shall be served or prepared for the day. Inspite of multiple request to the hotel management they continued serving same food - menu and now the hotel management have completely stopped listening. There's no one to listen to and understand our problem here. Being an Vegetarian Indian, we are having the worst experience of food and on hospitality front with this hopeless property of Holiday Inn Kandooma Resort, Maldives. I do not recommend any Vegetarian Indians to come and stay at this property.

Dear pradeepsinghi, Thank you for your feedback on your recent stay at Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives and for allowing me the opportunity to address your concerns. It was very disheartening to read of your disappointment during your time with us; but I appreciate the opportunity to respond to your feedback. I sincerely apologise for any shortcomings experienced and that you didn’t find the culinary offering here to your liking. Our aim is to provide and exceptional & memorable, one island, one resort experience, as experienced by the many Indian guests that have stayed with us and who have loved the Resort. I am surprised to hear that you felt your concerns were not heard because several of our senior Food & Beverage colleagues were in close contact with you during your stay and made arrangements for special vegetarian dishes to be served to you based on your specific requests and requirements which were not available on the menu or the buffet. They, along with many of our culinary team hail from India and understand the importance of vegetarian cuisine to our most valued Indian travelers. pradeepsinghi, we appreciate your feedback and certainly hope that the above concerns communicated will not deter from your future stays with the brand. Warm Regards Hussain Shahid Executive Assistant Manager

We recently visited the Holiday Inn Resort, Kandooma with our kids. Set on a stand-alone island, the well maintained property has a calm and laid-back environment much needed from the hustle bustle of busy cities. The Kandooma Cafe served a good variety of breakfast. The staff was very warm and welcoming, a special thanks to Mr Bandula, the Customer Services Manager who was available for any assistance needed. From the fun water activities for kids, daily refreshing menu to the access to the beach from our villa made it a memorable holiday for us! Definitely recommend for young couples and those seeking a classy holiday destination.

Holiday inn kandooma was my paradise in Maldives! The hospitality of the staff was amazing! From manager till house keeping staff not even once i felt deceived. I would give them 15 out of 10 for their friendliness and cooperation. The rooms are spacious and full of sun and air. Keeping covid 19 needs in mind they provide e everything needful. The food variety is excellent and covers varied nationalities; especially desserts were mind blowing! Our 9 years old kid was in heaven when it was dinner buffet time! There is a wide range of activities available at the resort. From guided snorkeling till swimming with nurse shark!❤ There is a kids club too which is very organised and a library to cater you on lazy days under the sun. The infinity pool is quite spacious. The walk around the island is beautiful. The best part is that there are many beaches on all sides of resort one can easily enjoy calm, blue and vitamin sea where ever they wish. It is a great place to go as a couple or as a family. Kids and elders are welcome equally. An awesome resort to make your stay in Maldives worthwhile! I specially would like to thank Riza and Bandula for their great hospitality. Very few resorts in Maldives are more focused on customer service and this is one of the best.

Definitely one of the most memorable and well executed customer experiences end to end that I've ever seen! After booking my 40th Birthday Trip directly through IHG.com, the entire logistics was a breeze during COVID. Within 24 hours I received a logistics email from the hotel front desk outlining current rules and visa requirements. Boat Transfer/Check-in: Upon arriving in Male (after 40 hours of travel from Canada) it was easy to find the Holiday Inn counter at the airport and immediately organize our boat transfer to the resort. The boat was super comfortable and water was provided. Once docking at the resort, we were greeted by a Welcome Party and driven to the front desk for check-in with bags automatically transferred to our room. We had a single point of contact from leaving the boat through the entire check-in experience. Everything was covered to inform us on our stay. From a process perspective, it was flawlessly executed. COVID PCR Tests are organized at check-in and you are given phone reminders - hassle free. Room: Our room was a Lagoon View with Beach Access which in my opinion was the best location, however the furthest from the main amenities with exception of the gym and spa. The outdoor bathroom was nice, room was very clean, and the outdoor patio area was nice and relaxing. Beds are FIRM, which is typically normal in this part of the world. Spa / Gym: I had two massages (Indonesian + Como Relaxation). Facilities were immaculate, masseuse was well skilled, and the cold tea before and after was phenomenal. The gym, is clean and well equipped. Excursions: We took advantage of the complimentary 8:30am snorkeling most days. The local boating staff are very honest and friendly. We had to push off and change some bookings because of water conditions at the snorkeling sites. We experienced swimming with the Nurse Sharks and Dolphin watching (the pod swam right next to the boat). Loved every trip. Snorkel equipment is provided for your entire stay. Beaches / Lagoon: We both brought our paddle boards from Canada and we were able to go on a few adventures. Due to COVID we weren't able to dock and explore other islands. Pictures don't do the beach and water justice (however see my pictures). The area around the resort for example is better than the best beach in Hawaii and by a long shot! I'm still in shock that the beach and lagoon were as exception as they were. You don't need to pay $1000.00 a night and fly on a sea plane for $500 to experience the Maldives. I do recommend some water shoes, as there is coral that you could cut your feet on (which I did). Lastly tons of hermit crabs, fish, and geckos to befriend. Restaurants: There really is only one. The breakfast buffet was great, tons of options, food and beverages were delicious and fresh, plus many chef a cart items. Unlimited on demand lattes made with Illy Coffee was the best part of my day. If you plan to drink, it's expensive. Average $20 USD per drink, also you have to stay at the one bar and there isn't beachside service. It's not the resort if you plan to drink and stay in the sun all day. I did however order a bucket of beer and ice to my room for a paddle board adventure (which stayed cold in my Yeti all day). Service: I can't single anyone out because the entire team was beyond exceptional. Literally everyone is authentically friendly, anticipates needs, and delivers. I want to provide some solid examples: - Missing SD Card for my GoPro. The front desk procured one from Male and kept tight communication with me on options and delivery (the either phoned the room or found me personally to discuss) - Both Doctors on the island bandaged my feet daily after cutting them on the coral. This was at no additional cost - Excursion Staff were very upfront about sea conditions so that you didn't waste your money. They would rebook for the next day. Normally (somewhere else) you book at your risk and have to go no matter what - Cleaning staff, I don't know how they got rid of the sand everyday but they did. I couldn't even find a speck Areas for improvement: The only real issue during the trip is that there was a conference for the Indian staff from a German Financial Institution during two days. They really changed the vibe. For example I had to tell a Mother that was standing directly next to my table at breakfast yelling (spitting screaming) at her children to shut up and go away. The resort staff did their best to mediate the group from disturbing the other guests. To be blunt, they wouldn't be staying at the resort if their company didn't pay for it. The Manager bought me two drinks to make the pain go away. :) Bottomline. Expectational Experience. Maldives are better than you can imagine, and I'm talking about the staff. Thank you!

Dear Le_Brettski, Thank you so much for this wonderful and comprehensive review of your time with us at Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives. We are all so incredibly appreciative of your comments on the team members here at Kandooma. They are the heart and soul of the island and take great pride in all that they do. I am thrilled to see that you were able to enjoy so many of the activities that we have on offer. I hope that you were able to try out some of our more adventurous snorkeling trips such as the Whale Shark trip or snorkeling in and out of a ship wreck. They are simply absolute MUST DO's when visiting the Maldives. I couldn't agree with you more that our garden spa by COMO Shambhala is a haven for rejuvenation - its always heartening to hear when guests leave the enclave feeling more relaxed and energised. Perhaps on your next visit, you can combine it with a couple of yoga sessions - our outdoor yoga shala is relaxing itself with the panoramic views of the ocean. Le_Brettski, We are so happy that you had a memorable birthday celebration here with us in the Maldives and we hope to be able to share in many more celebrations with you when you return to Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives. Warm Regards Hussain Shahid Executive Assistant Manager

This resort is a good mix of everything you want. It is blissful for a Couples vacation as well as full of activities for a fun-filled Family vacation. Since my wife & I were vaccinated for Covid-19, we were allowed to travel to Maldives in September 2021. We stayed for 2 nights in a Beach Villa and 1 night in the Overwater Villa. There is not much to complain really. All the other complaints I saw in the other reviews are basically things that happen beyond their control. However, a couple of things are to be considered. # The WiFi is high speed. Good enough to make video calls but not good enough to have a Live-Streaming online event. Remember, you are in the middle of the ocean. # Choose any room according to your budget as all the rooms are well maintained. However, choose "Ocean Facing" rooms. You have come to an island destination to wake up to the view of the ocean and not of a garden. # While booking, always choose the FULL BOARD option. Food in the main restaurant (Kandooma Caffe) was excellent. Yes, it was a buffet meal but the quality was top notch. . We came here in the middle of a global pandemic so all the other "specialty" restaurants were closed anyway. # Carry beach shoes (thin rubber sole with mesh tops). If you go into the ocean from your Overwater Villa there are sharp stones that will definitely injure you and spoil your vacation. Thankfully we always carry beach shoes. # Ask for watersport activities as there are quite a few of them. Some are complimentary and the others come with an extra charge. # While booking Overwater Villa, choose OCEAN VIEW (just like every other room) otherwise you'll be staring straight at the people of the nearby island which is literally a 2-minute swim away (or rather they'll be staring at you). # Keep your doors & windows shut most of the time unless you want the ocean breeze. Remember, the more you keep your windows open the more the chances of bugs entering your room.
