Tromsø Lodge & Camping is located in the fabulous wilderness, right next to the Tromsø city center. You can sleep to the sound of the river running outside your cabin, with the majestic mountains behind you. When you wake up, you can take a lovely morning walk in one of the many hiking tracks at site. The location is perfect for those who want to experience the arctic nature, but also close to the urban city life. By car it is only a 5 minute drive, or by foot a 30 minute walk. We offer 54 cabins divided in 5 different categories, where you can choose between high standard cabins with two bedrooms, to a small cabin with only two beds. We also offer space for tents, RV and caravan, in addition to meeting and event facilities for up to 120 persons. Parking and WiFi is included in all of our cabins.

Friendly staff, clean, & respectful campground! I visited Norway for 2 weeks with my boyfriend and we rented a campervan and drove all around the greater Tromso area and Lofoten Islands. We wanted to stay somewhere near the city (Tromso) before we flew home to relax and enjoy the city. I reserved 2 nights at the campground ahead of time & it was a perfect spot. I recommend a reservation due to all of the spots filling up while we were there. Has been one of the cleanest campgrounds I have ever stayed at, the accommodations all worked well, and the staff was super accommodating. I would absolutely stay here again.

We stayed at this establishment for three nights. When we first arrived we were stuck in the very last cabin with one bed. We booked for a twin bed room. There was no wifi at the end cabin. We asked why this was and we were informed by the staff that renovations were happening and no wifi was available in the cabins we were placed in. The TV also did not work. The staff told us that it couldn’t be fixed. We asked to be moved to a different cabin. They had no spare cabins.
We decided to cancel our reservation and find something else around town. When we asked for a refund, the staff miraculously found a spare cabin but it cost us an extra $200. We decided to ring around for different accommodation. The staff then offered us a free night on them if we stayed. We moved to a deluxe cabin and were not disappointed. Very roomy and lovely however, the point of getting to the deluxe cabin was like pulling teeth with staff there. End result was good. Deluxe cabin is a recommend

The campsite is wonderful! The staff is open, courteous, always ready to help and answer questions, provide advice and guidance.
Its location is great for observing the Northern Lights. We are hiking, so all distances are within walking distance. At 15 minutes there is a viewing platform on Mount Floy from which we watched Aurora and almost the entire city in the palm of our hand. At 15 minutes from the lift to the mountain, in 10 minutes. bus stop and the other way in 15 min. supermarket.
The beautiful nature and distance from the city make camping special.
We had a cottage economy class - a bed 2-tier, wide, comfortable. The linen is clean, fresh. There are heaters and you can adjust the temperature yourself. Table and 2 chairs. There is also a table with drawers in which there are dishes and a refrigerator.
Toilet, shower and sauna are located in a separate room 100 meters from our house. This property has a reception, a kitchen, a laundry room and a changing room. Each of the necessary except the reception is the entrance to the cards you will be given at the entrance. In the shower, too, a card system that already predefined the time of water spill, works on the controller, you can select the temperature, carefully look at the numbers indicated on it. The sauna is shared so take a swimsuit.
The kitchen is large with 3 work areas. There are dishes, pots, pans, oven, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator.
Near the river, the campsite is at the foot of the mountain. There are romantic places: a bridge across the river, benches near the pond.
Great price offer, distance from the city. Opportunity to watch the Northern Lights on the camping site.

I'd give 3.5 stars.
When we first checked in we noticed our cabin had not been cleaned. Beds especially were filthy dirty, they had hairs and weird black stuff all over them. We asked for a different cabin.
The 2nd cabin was better, but not perfect.
Beds were clean but not made up, sheets were just folded on top of the mattresses... Are guests expected to make their own beds?? Odd and not very inviting.
Kitchen table and chairs were absolutely filthy, we felt the need to wipe everything down with sanitizing wipes to be able to feel comfortable.
Bathroom smelled terrible. I understand they likely use septic tanks, but they can likely do something about the smell. I've stayed in plenty of remote cabins and never had this issue before.
Overall we loved our stay in Tromso and got really lucky with weather and Aurora, but this 'hotel' needs to do better!!

Dear SBandHG, Thank you for sharing your experience at Tromsø Lodge & Camping! It seems like not everything went as well as we would have wished for here. Firstly, being given a cabin that does not hold the standard we aim for, is of course unacceptable. And it doesn’t seem like the issue was solved at all, by reading your remarks regarding the second cabin you were given. In addition, my reply to you here is 2 whole months late, which absolutely not OK. So, on behalf of the whole team I would like to apologize for the not so nice experience you had with us. Even though the damaged is done here, I still would like to make a few comments to some of the issues you are describing: The bunk beds in the Traditional cabins are not fully made, due to it being physically challenging for our cleaning staff (damaging to the back because of bunk beds). The beds are presented with clean terrycloth (frotté) sheets, and a clean set of bed linens and towels placed on top. The smell from the toilet is unfortunate, and not nice at all. It only concerns one cabin as per now, and it’s usually caused by warm weather (rapid change from cold to hot). This is an issue we are currently working on with the municipality, who maintain the pipelines we are using. All in all, we are very sorry for what you are describing, with regards to the smell, the kitchen table and chairs, and the lack of ready-made beds in your cabin. Please feel free to contact us directly, and refer to this message. I would be very happy if we could try to solve the issue somehow. 😊 Best wishes from all of us!

Just returned from a great week in Norway staying here. Lodge was very clean and comfortable. Team are helpful and friendly with little touches like a welcome pack when they knew it was a special birthday and helping book a trip on the day. The site is well managed with all the snow we had. We didnt use the cafe but it was spotless and the food smelled delicious. We will return. Thank you.

We stayed here for a 3 night stay in Feb and had an excellent and memorable stay. It is in a perfect location with a 30 min walk to Tromso centre or 5/6 taxi ride. We had the economy cabin which had no toilets but aslong as you don't drink too
much before bedtime you were ok!! Cabin was clean, warm and comfy, on the small side but you are hardly in them with doing so much exploring. You had cooking utensils but you have to use the communal areas to cook and wash that is near the reception and showers. Wasn't a problem as we were out all day and night so did not cook. The basic cabin made it feel more authentic. Staff are so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious with mixture of continental choices. The scrambled egg was the best one I've ever had! Breakfast set you up for the day! Shower block warm and clean just need to use your card pass to work the shower which I did not know, otherwise all good. The only criticism I had was due to very heavy snow the snow plough had to clear it daily but drove round the cabins around 4am and with the lights and noise it woke you up but soon went back off to sleep. It felt like you were in the wilderness but close enough to the city and places of interest to visit, so perfect location all round. I want to book again!!!

Dear jgraha953150, Thank you so much for leaving us this lovely review! 😊 We are thrilled to read that you enjoyed your stay in the Economy cottage. It is truly a simple and authentic little cabin. Not all visitors are prepared for the type of experience the cabin invites for, so it pleases my heart to read how much you enjoyed your stay, and our facilities. We are very sorry to read about the bothersome snow plough at 4 am. It has snowed heavily during February, and the cleaning of snow is mostly done by nighttime when there are less people and cars around (applies to whole Norway). But I can absolutely relate to being woken up at night by the noise – it can be annoying, but it’s necessary when living in northern Norway. I will make sure to pass on your feedback to the reception and the kitchen staff – they will surely appreciate your kind words. 😊 Thank you so much for staying with us, and for taking the time to share your experience! Best wishes from all of us at Tromsø Lodge & Camping

We stayed here for 3 nights in January 2020. Really comfortable and clean cabin. Fully ecuipped so you don 't have to think about what to bring except personal gear. The camping is close to city centre, we had a car so easy to reach city and for example the supermarkt. Reception staffwas really friendly and helpfull. I defenitely will be back!

All the staff are friendly and helpful. The location of Tromso Camping is not too far from the city (30 min by walk), and is near a good car rental company. The facility and opening place is plenty and good for kids!

It was a mistake to chose these cabins: in the pictures they looked nice and even modern, but the reality was a bit different. A superior cabin was spacious with livingroom and a separate bedroom, but very worn-up.
The kitchen was so old and the stove did not worked. No microwave oven in the kitchen eather. A few cups, spoons and plates.
On TV there was only three channels. None of them showed EM-football.
Next to the cabin there was somebodys tents. I would have left of I had not paid it already. It is understandable why they won’t promise a payback if cancelled.
There are a lot of much nicer looking places in Tromso, hotels cost only 100-130€. This costed over 170€, not good value for your money.
The staff is very helpful and fluent. In a service building there is a restaurant, self service kitchen (also the microwave), showers and washing room. The cabin was very clean.
The city center is quite far away, not on a walking distance.

We stayed here for 2 nights. The place was full when we arrived and we got the extra place just beside the service building without electricity and bad internet connection, our 2nd night we had the place for the motorhome with electricity and good Wi FI. The service building is new and all the basics are available without extra charge aside from washing and drying of clothes (which is the standard in most camping sites in Europe) We saw some hiking trails that can also be done but we didn't try it. The camping site is just beside the football stadium. They also have a restaurant that sells freshly baked breads in the morning.

Dear balven,
Thank you for reaching out!
Several of our cabins are located next to the river running past the camp site: Explorer cabin, Traditional cabin and Deluxe lodges. You are welcome to make a request when booking, but we cannot guarantee that you will be allocated to a cabin next to the river, unfortunately.
Best wishes,
Mats
