4 of us stayed over after doing the 3 Peaks. The rooms were as cosy as ever, and the beer in top shape. Thwaites Original and Wainwright were excellent and well priced. The food was just great. Big portions, really well presented and so tasty after 25 miles of walking. Andrew and Maureen were really welcoming, and Andrew joined us...

What a great place to eat. Just come back from a weeks holiday in Stainforth and first night decided to eat in the local pub. Food was so fantastic that we gave up all thought of cooking ourselves and ate there every night. Every night we tried something different and all came with the same quality of lovely home cooked...

What a fab pub that Andrew and Maureen run with Darren the chef cooking up some amazing food with Maureen in the kitchen! My husband is a pie connoisseur and raved about his game pie, with real gravy, made the proper way and I had beer battered succulent fish and chips. The Whitebait starter was excellent, not dried up crumb...

Let's get one thing out of the way first, yes the husband can come over as being grumpy. That aside this place is lovely. It's not on a main road so is nice and quiet if you want to relax. The beer is fine and the food is more than fine. I was on this trip on my own but...

We discovered this place by accident but will definitely be returning. The staff/owners were very welcoming and friendly, the surroundings cosy and very clean and the food was delicious. I had the vegetarian curry which was full of flavour and very filling, they can so often be insipid and disappointing, and my Mam had the fish and chips which were...

Visited this pub whilst walking with a group. Variety of lunches including Soup and a sandwich, jacket potatos and Quiche with new potatos and salad. All food Avery good and reasonably priced. The Beer is good as well. (Thwaites) would visit again if in the area.

We visited on a Thursday evening for an early evening meal, and the pub was quiet whilst we were there.During the course of our meal a couple came for a quick drink, then left and 3 other people arrived and seemed to be regulars. The gentleman I assume was the landlord was polite/friendly towards us ( I add this only...

My brother in law and I went to check out the pubs in area whilst on a walking weekend, after we had had a truly awful meal at a pub in the village we were staying. We came across this place, which we felt was a little too far from where we were camping as someone would have to drive...

I dinned here recently after staying at a local camping site.. I wasn't disappointed. I had steak & chips with peppercorn sauce which was mouth watering. I would highly recommend that dish if visiting the Craven Heifer. The venue was also cosy a typical North Yorkshire pub.

I visited this place about 2 moths ago, I'm stunned that these people think they make suitable publicans. The fire was nice and warm but the atmosphere was definitely frosty. My one star goes for the nice food but if you are looking for somewhere with a nice friendly atmosphere then give this place a wide birth. It's a real...
