We stayed at the Merry Widow during our holiday trip touring the West Coast. We found this little gem on Tripadvisor. It is easy to find and is near most of the West Coast attractions and towns. The room was large and beautiful. Ulrich our host was attentive and friendly. He is busy making the guesthouse a "green" property -...

I arrived and the owner/host, Ulrich Donaggi, directed my car to the rear of the property and accompanied me to an absolutely huge room which must have been a barn - with stone walls and a cathedral ceiling. I found it very cold and could not sleep the first night, and only when an electric blanket and gas heater were...

Thank you for your review. We were unsuccessful in tracing the paid reservation detail about your stay with us and therefore have to conclude that you might have wanted to review another establishment instead of ours!

Staying at the Merry Widow was a highlight of our time in the Western Cape. The room (We dubbed it "the Manor House") was very large, high ceilings, antique stone walls, large excellent bed, good shower, major wood table for dining, and large living room chairs. Great nights sleep. Breakfast was excellent: first rate ham w scrambled eggs and lattes....

We had the family room with 2 bedrooms. Everything was very comfortable and cozy, and we loved our stay here. The owner is a wonderful cook - our breakfasts and suppers were delicious. This was a great place for us to use as home base for kite-surfing in Langebaan and exploring the other things to do in the area. Lovely...

We spent 3 days at The Merry Widow. Our room was huge and comfortable with a sprawling 4 poster bed. We were treated by the owner to amazing breakfast with very good coffee, delicious dinners and dessert. Merry Widow has a few interesting long term guests and we really enjoyed sitting around the dining area and talking and drinking wine...

Lovely accommodation in a tranquil setting. Perfect to explore the West Coast from here. Not the place to go if you prefer the lights and buzz of city life. Find this a perfect break away from Cape Town and the market on Saturday mornings is just a must, good local fresh produce and mingle with the friendly locals

Stayed here overnight. Cooled off in the very unique pool and enjoyed personal service by our host. Walked into town to pick up some South African craft beers, then had a wonderful braai (SA BBQ) for dinner.

Had an interesting chat with the owner, who was very very kind to us. This is a good place to base yourself near Langebaan lagoon if Langebaan is full and expensive, as long as you don't mind a 25 minute drive along straight empty roads. Breakfast is good and the Saturday food market is recommended.

Our recent two-night stay at the Merry Widow was a genuinely pleasant experience. The Stone room was very spacious, cool and clean with a super comfy king size copper bed, sofa and chairs, dining table and various other antique pieces of furniture. Yes, it really has thick stone walls and high ceilings! The friendly host, Ulrich, brought us fresh milk...
