Stayed in Daisy Lodge which is a wood effect clad static caravan, not a wooden lodge. Accommodation was basic, but equipped with all you need to cook simple meals. Plenty of cleaning products, tea, coffee, sugar, milk and biscuits on arrival. Washing machine, washing line, tall fridge and freezer, towels and bedding included. I did have to wash up some of the cutlery and crockery before using as they had dried food on but I appreciate the cleaners can’t check all the kitchen equipment on changeover day. Nice decking area out the front with table and seating. Unfortunately the decking was not secure like some of the other lodges and so I couldn’t leave the patio doors open in case the dog escaped, which made the accommodation rather hot even with all the windows open. (This was my problem, and not a problem of course if you don’t have a dog.). We were staying for work, not leisure and hubby went off each day to his work, leaving me ‘working from home’. Unfortunately the Wi-Fi was not great and it made working and zoom calls quite challenging. Mobile phone signal was not strong enough to tag off either. Again, not a problem if you are there having a leisurely break, although if you have children who like to surf the net, it may be an issue. The tv signal was also very hit and miss and kept losing signal which was frustrating. The site is peaceful and overlooks fields - was nice to hear all the birds singing at dawn and dusk. Although the railway line and road is close by, this did not disturb us at all. A nice stay, friendly owners, but unfortunately just did not meet my needs.

We have spent a week here and have absolutely loved it, we’ve found it peaceful and relaxing with absolutely loads of things to do in the local area and a little further a field it makes a great base. We’ve been super cosy in the traditional log cabin Bluebell (lovely twinkly fairy lights come on as it gets dark) and our little dog has enjoyed walking round the site and being able to roam on the decking outside the lodge which is completely secure for her with a gate too, the milk, cakes and biscuits on arrival were a lovely touch, and the lodge is fully stocked with wash powder, wash up liquid bin bags etc and has iron and board washing machine well equipped kitchen plus a bbq and washing line if needed, cannot fault it at all, will definitely recommend to anyone, thank you for a lovely stay we will be back! Also visit the little tea room at the site entrance absolutely gem!

The good- there was fresh milk, the lack of hot water was fixed very quickly, the bedrooms were ok, the bed linens were clean, the beds were comfy The not so good- the radiator leaked soaking the carpet and my socks, the oven was old and rusty, the fridge was old and dirty, the crockery, pans and cutlery were old, dirty and some not cleaned since last use of egg fry up, the chairs were made of old plywood, covered in pillowcases and staples were falling off, the very loud noise of the road very close to our bedroom kept me awake every night, the view of our lodge was an old car park, the check in was ridiculous- I had driven three hours to arrive and have to wander round the antique shop and cafe to try and find someone- We asked for another lodge but apparently they were all full (they weren’t full when I walked around every day with my dog) We couldn’t relocate or go home because we were visiting my very poorly child who was in a nearby hospital

The lodge was as the pictures show. Dirty, smelled of damp. All the surfaces we had to clean. The furniture was old and scruffy. Dog poo outside of the entrance to the decking. We couldn't use the cooking facilities as we couldn't trust it. We had to give the place a good clean or we would have left. Just awful and made you feel itchy. The owners will try and dispute this that's why we included pictures. We got out of there first thing the next day. I am a loss as to why people rate this place. The site itself was unloved and scruffy. Theresva site next door that shows how it's meant to be done. I guarantee the owners will say we should have told them? What exactly would they have done? It shouldn't be that bad.

Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review, as we value customer feed back and take it very seriously. We are sorry that clearly you didn't enjoy your short stay. We are pleased that you found the lodge to be as the pictures show. I personally cleaned the lodge myself on the morning of your arrival, when our previous guests checked out. I also welcomed you and showed you to the lodge when you arrived early before our check-in time. I didn't make any issue about the fact you have brought your dog but failed to inform us. (Our policy is pets on requested and we charge £10 per dog per stay but you were not charge this as you had not included you dog on the booking.) You booked and stayed is a hand built rustic log cabin with gas central heating and has been fully occupied all winter. No previous guests have ever raised a concern about damp or a smell of damp and we can find no evidence of damp! We note that you made no complaints or raised any issues during your stay despite us being on site the whole time. We would have we happy to address any concerns and re-clean the lodge if you had raised any issues. You stayed for the duration of your stay and check-out the next morning having only booked a one night stay! If the lodge was dirty and our site was as bad as you make out then we are very surprised that you chose to stay, especially as you where less than an hour from home.

Last weekend we had the pleasure of staying in Bluebell Lodge for 2 nights. Upon arrival we were met with a clean lovely lodge, tea, coffee, biscuits and milk. (An absolute godsend to have proper milk and not cartons). The lodge itself was spacious enough for 3 adults and a toddler and was well maintained. When needed the heating came on quickly and soon heated the cabin up. The only slight downside was getting the shower temperature to a useable heat. I struggled with it being either too hot or too cold. But it wasn't enough to stop me returning. The cafe on site (only open from Thurs until Sun at the moment I think) was also lovely, despite not serving breakfast currently. The staff were very adaptable to our needs. The children's play equipment was also perfect for my little girl. She loved it. Overall a lovely stay and we won't hesitate to return. Thank you.

Stayed with family in 2 lodges. We also had 2 dogs with us. The cabins are lovely and ours was a proper log cabin through and through. Everything worked fine and the place was nice and warm despite being quite cold outside. The cabin could have been cleaner and needed a deep clean. Beds were ok. Sofas were comfy. Shower worked fine. Plenty of cutlery in the cupboards and a few bits and bobs if you needed to make a cup of tea or forgot to bring sugar. Freezer had lots of old ice stuck to the bottom of it which needs a clear out. But cleanliness aside the place was nice, everything worked and it was a nice relaxing stay away.

Booked 3 lodges. One had no heating and my 82 year old mother practically froze to death while there alone as we were all still at a family wedding. She couldn’t walk down to the owners lodge as the slippy wooden ramps and the wholly inadequate lighting was too dangerous for her. The owners knew about the boiler as we’d called them in the previous night and they’d kicked it into action. I’ve never seen such an old boiler, I’d be surprised if it conforms to current standards. Another lodge had no outdoor lighting and my brother took a nasty tumble in the night. The owners response? Rude dismissal, zero compassion or contrition. A weak ‘sorry’ followed by total denial of responsibility. It’s a shame as in general we quite like the lodges but we’ll never go again. I’d recommend a stint at charm school for those unpleasant people

I stayed in Laurel Lodge which was very well kitted out, lovely and clean. Quiet and over looks fields and open land. The lodge was very well equipped and very comfortable. I hired it so my sister and I could have a bit of time tougher to celebrate a big birthday and it was so relaxed, and allowed us space to enjoy family and friends dropping in for a bbq and afternoon tea. We had a three bedroom lodge, a double and two singles. Beds were lovely and comfortable and singles were full singles not the normal static caravan size. Great shower and decking was really lovely Would definitely recommend

We stayed here in Bramble Lodge for a weekend and can't fault anything about the lodge or the helpful, friendly owner who met us on arrival. The lodge is well equipped with everything we needed, and more. Little extra touches that made all the difference such as milk, biscuits, tea and coffee were available. We even found ice cubes in the freezer, although we didn't need to use them. The lodge was spotlessly clean and sofas and bed very comfortable. The lodge had a decked outside area overlooking fields and a table and chairs. I could quite happily have stayed there with a book for the whole weekend but being nosy, we did a lot of exploring around the beautiful towns and villages around the area. We had a lovely time and would very much recommend Avondale for a relaxing and comfy stay.
