- Dirty windows (as in not cleaned for months) and dirty sheets - The garbage bin with garbage at check in - Zero phonic isolation – I could heard what my neighbours were talking on the phone, not to mention the sounds heard from the next room’s bathroom; - The entrance door in the room was not closing completely –...

Great location, would have been better if we had had the time to walk around the estate, go bear watching etc, but we arrived quite late and had to leave early. Shabby Chick style accommodation, very comfortable bed and great bathroom. Set menu dinner was tasty and well presented. Hopefully we will be able to come back and enjoy the...

Nothing much to say that was not said before. Very quiet estate, deers on sight, nice room, very good rather traditional meals, friendly staff, lots of additional services available. We will definitely come back!

Everything about this place is magical. The property is absolutely fantastic, the park, the dinning room with the fireplace, the surrounding woods, the friendly staff. The rooms have just been renovated, wi-fi is good all over property, lots of activities to do. We did the "Bear watching" which I recommend only to the brave ones :) One more plus is...

At the arrival entrance we were excited by the surroundings. The Castle is located in a very beautiful area surrounded by forests, farm animals and wildlife. A member of staff guided us to our accommodation. We stayed for one night in the "Garden House" and it was always warm, cosy and spacious. We had fun exploring the extra "secret" room....

Most interesting experience ever had: while having the dinner inside restaurant with a nice table near fireplace (outside 10deg) with 40's melodies in backround, a deer and her cub were passing through. Next morning, getting outside of my room (Old Kitchen) getting squerls chasing nuts for their reserves. Snow was the only thing missing here... Regarding the room we had,...

Cobwebs, dust and tiny shards of broken glass on the room floors. I suppose that's all part of the turn-of-the-century experience. The food is rather poor, considering the prices, but the staff is very nice and somewhat sweetens the terrible impression that the rooms make. The location is absolutely gorgeous, but the overall experience leaves much to be desired.

I've visited Zabola Estate in August 2016, together with my family. Although the start of our journey was not the best, because we were announced 2 days prior to our arrival, that our accommodation was going to change due to a fire in the Machine House - which was currently under heavy repairs, the overall experience turned out to be...

Dear Gabriel, thank you very much for your positive review!! I hope we can meet soon again, with a better start. We always try to create the possibly best solution for each situation our guests and we are facing. I spent there with my family one of the best 3 days mini-vacation ever! The place was perfect for us, beautiful, extremely relaxing and peaceful, with enough varied activities for our little one. She enjoyed the little playground (especially the trampoline), the domestic animals, the boat sailing, the walks in the forest (especially as we were accompanied by a nice...

We stayed in the Garden House in August 2016. This was one of the most peaceful holidays ever. We spent 5 days on the estate and never left once. The staff are very friendly and incredibly helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. If you want a peaceful calm place to enjoy nature then this is the place for you. We...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Take part in our Transylvanian Countryside Lifestyle. Zabola is a unique estate, not just in Transylvania. It is a very much lived in family home, a property where guests are invited to enjoy the atmosphere of the turn of the century. Zabola Estate spreads over 500 hectares, out of which 50ha are covered by the Castle Park. The whole estate is accessible directly from the castle park. Our Guesthouses are dating back to the 18th, 19th and 20th century. They fulfilled different purposes in course of time. Today four houses are available for bookings, three in the Garden Estate and one in one of the Forest Estates ('Dobrica' Hunting Lodge). The Estate comprises in addition to the three guesthouses The Old Stables - a banquette house for leisure, drinks, dinners, receptions and other events. A refreshed and maintained English landscape garden with 2 lakes and 4 ponds, pavilions, terraces, a sauna in the woods, stables, barns and walking, hiking and carriage-tracks are yours to enjoy. The rich nature and wildlife we are living in and with is of high importance to us. Next to wild ducks, storks and great blue herons, the Garden Estate and its adjunct forest gives home to bears, deer, wild boar, stags, wolfs, lynx, bats, squirrels, owls, buzzards, bats, frogs, and all kind of smaller animals. We try to make this wildlife in a careful way accessible to you. Picture on front of yourself a painting by Monet and all the colors he used - that's Zabola when pressing the 'random button'. The general atmosphere of Zabola remind to the 1920ies in a certain way. Some say they have seen Hercule Poirot slipping out of the dining room. ... more   less
