Detailed Reviews

This was our first trip to Cornwall and we wanted somewhere that could act as a base for us to explore and Wheal Rodney was perfect!! We chose to camp and it was amazing, the toilets and showers are clean and well kept, there is a sink area and a separate area to get ready in with mirrors and hairdryers. There are sinks for washing up and washing machines for clothes at a small price. There is also a small fridge which you can store a few items in, they just ask you to label them up. There is an onsite shop that sells everything you could need.
The site is only a 10/15 minute walk into Marazion itself where you can explore the beautiful beach and take in the amazing views out St Michaels Mount.
It is only a 15/20minute drive to Penzance and to St Ives making it an ideal base from which to explore.
Every staff member that we came across was incredibly friendly and couldn't be more helpful! A huge thank you to you all.
There is also an amazing pub called The Fire Engine at the end of the road, delicious food if you are looking for a quick bite to eat.

We have just stayed at Wheal Rodney in our camper van.
The site is superb, lovely and clean, large level pitches, plenty of hot water for showers and washing up, with the bonus of a heated swimming pool on site.
A very well stocked shop with all the essentials. Good Wi Fi throughout, good mobile phone signal and good tv aerial signal.
The site is very well maintained, it is in a great location out of town so nice and quiet, It is only a 10 min stroll down into Marazion, and there is a local pub with good food and a great sea view only a 8 min walk away.
Staying at the end of the summer season both Donna and John (the owners) are still very helpful, smiley and friendly despite probably having answered the same questions a thousand times this summer!
We would strongly recommend staying at Wheal Rodney as a perfect base to both explore Cornwall or just to relax.

Only a few lodges and area for caravans. We had a lodge and everything was provided. Dish cloths washing up liquid vacuum cleaner flowers tea and coffee toilet rolls. Even the cooker trays and grill pan had silver foil on them. Place was immaculate. Nothing was too much trouble definitely coming again.

We returned to Wheal Rodney for a second year and we have already booked up for next year! Donna, John and the team are absolutely fantastic, they are friendly, polite and really do go that extra mile to help. The site has a real family feel with great sized pitches, perfect for the caravan, awning with extra room/extension. The facilities are brilliant, the pool was perfect for my family, especially as the weather was so glorious (a little too hot for me!). The shower & toilet block is spotless with hairdryers available and Donna even provided us with a baby bath for my grandson. The on-site shop is very well stocked and really reasonable priced too. Marazion is within walking distance with great local transport to get about. If you want to pop to St Ives for the day, a great tip is to use the park and ride at St Erth and hop on the train, great views of the coast and so much easier than driving (tip from Donna!) Thank you Donna, John and your team we had a fantastic holiday and look forward to seeing you all again next year.

Another fabulous holiday at Wheal Rodney. The site is beautifully maintained and the pitches are a great size giving you privacy from each other if you want it.
Ladies showers very recently updated and lots of hot water.
Staff are extremely friendly and knowledgable.
If you go make sure you order a cream tea for when you arrive, brilliant value.
Easy walk into Marazion where there are several lovely pubs to visit.
Our Grandchildren came for a weekend whilst we were there and loved the heated indoor pool.
Thank you all for helping us have such a lovely break and we’ll see you next year 5*

The accommodation is clean, tidy and really well equipped with everything you might need. This includes, kitchen equipment, washing up liquid, soap, towels, bedding, iron/ironing board, and a hoover. It is spacious and well laid out. Nothing is too much trouble and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
It is very dog friendly, a box with bowls, blankets and treats is even supplied.
They do extras such as providing cream teas or prosecco at a very reasonable price.
It is a short walk to the village, pubs and beach. There are lots of footpaths nearby.

Lovely site and very covid secure. We stayed in our camper van on a secluded pitch and, although there were plenty of other vans in site, we barely saw another person.
The shower blocks are very clean and there are separate rooms with multiple showers in for families to use together. Plenty of anti bac sprays were available in each room for cleaning before and after using high touch areas.
There’s a small shop on site selling essentials. The swimming pool was closed due to current restrictions.
You can easily walk into Marazion from here but be aware it is hilly so a steep 20 minutes climb back to site. The Fire Engine inn was only 10 minutes walk away but only open Wednesday to Sunday currently. There are a few other restaurants in the town but I would suggest booking ahead.
Marazion is a beautiful place and we loved it so much we booked an extra night. We will definitely be back next year.

Just home today after a blissful fortnight at Wheal Rodney. The campsite is wonderful; my plot was a great size, plenty of room for the tent, table and chairs outside, and parking for the car. The ground was easy to pitch in and had some good protection from the wind and rain that comes frequently in early summer in Cornwall.
The campsite facilities are really good - I never had to queue for the showers, and only occasionally for the washing up sinks. The microwave is a brilliant addition for camping and allowing you to have easy cook ready meals. The swimming pool is out of this world too!
Special mention to Donna, John and the team. Nothing ever seems to be too much trouble. One example of this is we wanted an Indian meal on our last night, and asked for a recommendation. Donna rang a family member to ask them so that we got a proper recommendation from somebody who eats more Indian than they do. Really excellent service. I love this place!

We booked this site for its proximity to Marazion and also the district to the Scilly park and ride.
Marazion was an easy & pleasant 15minute walk across the field and then on a quiet lane downhill ending in the central area, or a 10 minute walk to the fire engine pub. The staff were superb and offered the best welcome we have ever had on arrival with a welcome pack and a dog treat for our pooch.
The pitches are nice but on the smaller size, the road noise was more than we had expected and started fairly early.
The site had a small shop and a decent wash up / laundry area. The showers were good but slightly bijou, but clean and functional.
I would say that the site ideally suited smaller vans due to the size of pitches and turning areas when filling with water & access roads. When moving on to the Scilly parking we got there in less than 10 minutes.
Buses stopped right outside the site entrance and we got a bus to St Erth station and the train to St Ives.
Overall a friendly site with good facilities. including an indoor swimming pool, which we didn’t get to try.

Response from Donna Smith, Other at Wheal Rodney Holiday Park
Responded 19 Sept 2023
Hi Steve K, Many thanks for your review! First of all, thank you for your comments about our welcome upon arrival and staff in general; we are really proud of the customer service level we offer to our guests so it's great to hear about! We're also really happy that you found our facilities good and clean - what a shame you didn't get to try our wonderfully warm pool! We do have the A394 nearby as the crow flies - it can be noisy on occasion so I'm sorry that you noticed this during your stay. It does however mean that we are really well situated for days out and bus routes so that does mean every so often there is a noise inconvenience, apologies. We are a long thin holiday park but pitch 2 is quite generous at approx. 11.25m x 11m - we tried to make sure that this was ample for your 5.4m van conversion but I'm sorry you found this to be on the smaller side. Should you ever need to park for the Scillies travel again, you know where we are! Kindest regards, Donna, John and all the WRHP team

I have seen a van at the site longer than 7.5 m. the road from the the main road is a small one but easy to navigate.
I wonder if one issue would be is there a space for a van your size, from memory it would need to be at the front of the site so you need to check with them if there is availability.
I would give them a ring, they are really helpful.
Make sure you go to St Michaels Mount, it is amazing.
Save driving.

It is indeed! It's less than 20mins downhill and on the way back up, you can either take your time or catch a bus up to a nearby bus stop.
Good afternoon,
Many thanks for your enquiry.
Wi-Fi is available to all of our self-catering and camping guests who stay at the holiday park. The signal can vary depending on where you are. Guests staying in our lodges do receive free connection and campers can connect for as little as only £1.00.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.
Kind regards
Amanda
Good morning (or should I say Good evening!),
Thanks for your enquiry. In terms of accommodation, our family lodges should suit you perfectly. Each lodge is essentially a mini-house, with a full kitchenette (oven, fridge, microwave etc) living room, a double bedroom, twin bedroom and shower room. These lodges each sleep 4, so 3 lodges would fit the 12 of you in without problem!
The best people to contact regarding tours in your exceptional circumstances would be The Mount team themselves, (it won't let me post the link) but it's St Michael's mount website, Marazion .
If you have any further enquiries or if you would like to book with us directly (always cheaper!) you can call 01736 710605 or go online and book/pay directly with us.
Kind regards,
Donna
Many thanks for your enquiry. Self-catering guests may check-in at 15:00 hours and those who are camping at the holiday park ay arrive at the earlier time of 13:00 hours.
