My second time staying at Hotel La Barme for ice climbing. Wonderful service from all of the staff. Very good breakfasts with big variety and the 'egg steamer' (they also accommodate early breakfasts for early starts) and 3 course dinners, and the bar has a relaxed and social atmosphere with guide books and climbing logs.

We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The location is quiet and calm where the Chamois can be found strolling about. The breakfast was plentiful and the dinner selections were delicious and abundant. They always offered for seconds or more. The owners were also very kind and helpful to give tips on the best places to go. My family...

The hotel was well maintained and very clean, great sized rooms and great facilities. I real highlight was the food, we stayed half board, breakfast was really good and had good variety. Evening meals where a real highlight, big portions always with seconds and a good variety. The sauna and Jacuzzi was great, really good idea after a hard day...

Stephano and Nathalie made us very happy and well cared for all four nights. The only negative was the water pressure in the shower but they plan to fix that in September. Meantime, a free bottle of the wonderful regional house wine was a lovely gesture. Food was tasty and seconds were offered. There was always one entree(usually veal) and...

We arrived by car and were invited to park in the hotel's underground car park for a fee or in the public car opposite. We chose the hotel's park which kept the car cool and secure but we were not charged for this when checking out as we had spent a week at the hotel. We were shown to our room...

I stayed here for 3 nights. It's toasty warm, the staff are friendly and it's a great place to feel "plugged-in" to the climbing scene. The food is great - the starters were awesome. Good clean rooms and great showers. The gear drying room was a little inefficient though because of it's size.

Hotel La Barme continues to excel. As on previous visits, the staff are excellent in every way. They are helpful and nothing is too much for them. Food is good and plentiful. The hot tub provides an excellent way to relax as does the sauna. The 'craic' in the bar/lounge is always good value. I'd go back any day!

Valnontey is a small old village 50 minutes walk from Cogne (less with skis!) alongside the skitracks in a very narrow valley with steep slopes on both sides. It lies on the AV2 walking route and is a good alternative stopping point if you don't have the energy to climb up to the mountain refuges. La Barme is a collection...

We spent six days there, then left for a trek in another area, When the trek became impossible due to snow, we did not hesitate to come back here for another five days of hiking (which alone says it all). The personnel is very friendly and charming, the food is good, the locality is excellent, and the price is fair....
