Old Time is a 15th century house in the centre of old Bishops Castle fronted by a local craft gallery. Comfortable en-suite bedrooms and tasty breakfasts with home made bread, free range eggs and local produce. The shared breakfast table is next to the French windows into the garden and is in the 17th century extension! Bishops Castle is an excellent centre for walkers and cyclists and those exploring this unspoilt border country. The town has two breweries and many pubs and restaurants.

We stayed at the Old Time for 2 nights and Jane was a very warm and welcoming host. We stopped in the Cruck room which is a small double ensuite shower room which we were aware of when booking and suited us. Also probably a quieter room as at the side of the building. If you want a room with more space then book the Pink Room. Although the furniture/decor was a bit dated the room was very clean and Jane offered us tea/coffee on arrival. The b&b is in a quirky and very unique building and is very centrally located. Breakfast is taken in the kitchen around a large table with other guests which makes breakfast a very sociable affair. Jane cooks and chats and the atmosphere is nice and informal. One of the best cooked breakfasts we have eaten and fab homemade bread. The b& b is excellent value for money and the location is great for a variety of walks and with 6 pubs on the doorstep you're spoilt for choice. Six Tuns v good for food. Six Bells v friendly locals to chat with.

If you want old world charm and a warm welcome this is the place for you - Some of the furniture is dated as is much of the decor but saying that it is a lovely place to stay. Jane cooks the breakfast on the Aga while you sit at the breakfast table - we weren't in any rush so that was fine for us. If you want to stay in modern chain or want up to date everything then it's not for you. The Wi fi worked and the TV worked - horses for courses we found it charming

I found this establishment delightfully eccentric, with brightly coloured oak beams & uneven floors. Jean is extremely friendly & helpful, & cooked me an enormous full English breakfast. I was in the cruck room which was cosy with a view of the Shropshire hills & away from the main street.. My bed was comfortable & I had no trouble sleeping. The electric shower was nice & hot, My only quibble would be having to ask for tea making facilities in the room. My best memory of my stay was having my breakfast looking out over the colourful garden. If you want clinical not for you, if you want warm this is it.

Despite pleasant and (sort-of) welcoming hosts (husband seemed on another planet), this place needs much attention to deserve any paying guests. I can see why those who have been coming for years have rather got used to it but it's in need severely of a refurbishment and rethink. The room was terribly cramped with awful beds - nearly on the floor like at army camp - and a TV from the 80s. The carpet was simply dreadful, well the ghastly design anyway. Breakfast was agreed at 0830hrs but nothing was ready and it took another 45 mins to get any food. I had to ask for a drink. I'm sorry to be critical of clearly nice hosts but I have to report what I found.

Spent a long weekend at the Old Time B&B while in the area sampling the local breweries and the Shropshire hills. Jane was a lovely, welcoming host who's knowledge and enthusiasm for the area was much appreciated and ensured a comfortable stay in this quirky B&B. She cooks a mean breakfast too!

This is the third time we have stayed at Old Time. It is a wonderful B&B and Jane is one of the most friendly hosts we've come across (she runs the Tourist Information so is a mine of useful and interesting information).
We stopped in the pink room which is a nice size with an en suite comprising both a bath and a shower. Everywhere is very clean but wonderfully informal at the same time.
Breakfasts are served in the kitchen and the table is shared with whoever else is staying. Not for those who like to stay aloof but very sociable with Jane chatting as she cooks a delicious breakfast.
Bishops Castle itself is a wonderful place with great pubs, great food and friendly people. Old Time is perfectly situated in the middle of the high street,
A highly enjoyable stay - we hope to visit again soon.

Where to start ? First of all, our booking was muddled up, meaning that we ended up in the twin room when there was a vacant double room. The decor is very dated indeed and there are virually no amenities in the rooms - even getting the wherewithal to make a cup of tea involved a considerable rigmarole and as for a fridge, opening windows, wi-fi, a comfortable bed, space to move around, decent furniture, none of these are provided, the latter being rather ironic it is part of lovely hand-made furniture shop. Breakfast is seemingly always served at 8.30am and evidently is cooked from scratch with no pre-ordering, meaning that it was 45 mins before we were served, during which time we had to ask for tea and coffee. When it arrived, the cooked breakfast was very nice but it was an inordinately long wait. We ended up cancelling our second night and althought we were told that we could leave our things in he room until mid-afternoon, when we returned we found that our bags had been packed by the owners and put in the hallway. The owners really need to become more flexible and better organised and perhaps stop trading on the supposedly olde worlde charm of the property (multi-coloured half-timbered beams anyone ?!) and think about to provide a reasonable standard of service for the 21st century.

We were told we arrived too early and there was a kettle and no tea or coffee to go with it! The bed was too old, we don't mind antique or in character if it is still in good working order! Breakfast was lovely, local produce, although late and inflexible time making us late for an organised walk as we went for the Walking Festival. My friends (adults) had children's beds and with warm weather were unable to open the window. A lovely couple but if they wish to continue b & b they need to attend to the rooms if asking the going rate.

My room was extremely comfortable, really clean and I had a great breakfast. I was on a business visit so was in and out quickly but it would have been a great place for a lie in and to dawdle over breakfast. Great hosts who did not intrude unless you want to chat.
