I was traveling by motorcycle around the north of NZ and found this lovely place to stay for a couple of nights - close to forest and with lovely views out over the Hokianga inlet. The owner helped me with good advice and a good price for the room as I was traveling solo at that time.

This place is a gem. I stayed a couple of nights and met the most amazing people from all over. It is definitely a "hostel" ... and very clean! The family operating it were incredibly informative about getting there from Auckland, what to expect and how to be prepared for it. Also great about sites to see in area beyond...

This one isn't being assessed as a luxury hotel! We were on the way South after arriving by ferry at Rawene. It was lateish and we couldn't find a room at Opononi so lucked on Globetrekkers. Nice people, good spot, basic accommodation. Really good view of the waters nearby at the reserve/national park around a few corners.

Brilliant staff, people and guests. Fantastic night here. Right next to the beach, the hostel is incredibly clean, well equipped and the beds are remarkably comfortable. But it's the people and atmosphere that really make staying here amazing. We are booking in for next new years the moment we get home. 10/5 stars. Thank you for making or our adventure...

What a wonderful place to stay ! The owners are such helpful and friendly, the kitchen and the livingroom are clean and fully equipped. You can enjoy the nice patio, better during the summer, with a free BBQ. The rooms are clean as well and really confortable. I strongly recommend this place to stay, but, little tips, don't be dumb...

Extremely nice staff and cosy atmosphere especially in winter it feels nice and warm in the living room. I slept like a baby the bed are comfy and we were only 5 people so it was really nice and quite. I really enjoyed my stay there

We stayed when it was a stormy night and a power blackout in the whole region. We were the only guests and the host was very nice looking after us and bringing us torches. Unfortunately we could not enjoy the area outside which seemed to us so nice of thge weather would have been fine.

Our stay was not planned. Due to a loss in the family. Although we arrived late, we received fabulous service. Our room was tidy and clean. As were the other amenities. When we discovered we would need a second night, our host was more than happy to accommodate and allow us to change to a larger room. One odd thing,...

It is true that the place is nice, homely, surrounded by green hills, quiet and relaxing. And the owners are very nice and extremely helpful. On the other hand....beds...or at least mine, are old and mattress too soft with a huge hole in the middle. Wc facilities (being full bathroom) are insufficient...always had to wait.

“We had a double room in the main building which we were happy with. They also have one double room in a separate building just outside the main building which might be more private and quiet if there're many people staying at Globetrekkers.”

“They have internet but you have to ask as its in the office - Also ask about what's to do from owners. We were surprised by how much there is in the area. Bone carving was AWESOME!”
