They state they are "a premier New Zealand Fishing Lodge" but in my case they did not have a guide to fish with me and the owner "John" told me that I would not be able to fish on their river unguided! He is a total jerk, arrogant and a horrible host. He did not apologize or make an attempt...

I feel obliged to respond - not quite how I recall the circumstances. I note your booking was made by your friends who booked through a travel agent as you were joining up with your friends briefly during their stay at Stonefly Lodge. Neither your friends or their travel agent indicated your interest in booking a guided fishing tour during...

A first class or rather world class private exclusive lodge with eight guests and food as good as Paris, fly fishing for Browns that can not be equaled and hosted by attentive focused owners. Go!!! This is for the discriminating world traveler to savor a treasure. Hollands

We were in NZ for 30 days and we stayed un some amazing places but this by far was our favourite. The setting by the river was breathtaking. The rooms were comfortable and very inviting. I only took a bath (which I love) twice during our stay, stonefly was one of the two places- it felt like being at home....

If you looking for a special location with breathtaking views of the Motueka River from your bedroom, and anywhere on the Lodge, in absolute luxury, then there is no better place to stay. We visited many locations in the area and none even come close to this. John and Kate, the owners of this Lodge are one of a kind....

It is without hesitation I offer Stonefly Lodge my highest recommendation.  John and Kate, the owner/operators, are completely hands-on. They are driven to provide each guest his or her best experience. The service, the food and the lodge itself are the highest quality. My fishing guide put me over fish every day under difficult weather conditions. Stonefly Lodge is the...

Hubby and I finished our 10 day tour of NZ at this amazingly beautiful property. The location is fantastic. The lodge building is of great design and maintained beautifully. My husband who loves to fly fish was blown away. I don't fish and yet had a wonderful time. It is the perfect destination for couples who either like to fish...

I have fly fished all over the world and I can tell you that it does not get any better than Stonefly Lodge. Every aspect of my trip to Stonefly was exceptional. John and Kate Kerr are perfect hosts, and as owners, they insure no detail is overlooked. The accommodations are top notch. The cuisine (how many times can you...

We stayed two nights in February of 2016 after a disappointing stay elsewhere in the Nelson area. John & Kate took us in as luxury traveler refugees and got our New Zealand adventure back on track. This place shines from the moment you enter the gates until you leave. John & Kate are the consummate hosts and have truly created...

My wife and I spent 4 wonderful days at this beautiful lodge. John and Kate are the ultimate hosts and Stonefly is clearly a labor of love created from local timber cut and milled on site and crafted into a majestic but cozy lodge overlooking the Motueka River. The chef, Dean, is a wizard! Every meal was beautifully prepared and...

The lodge is beautiful, with its natural wood and stone features. The location, right on the Motueka River, gives visitors breath-taking views. John and Kate are wonderful hosts and take care of your every need, from making sure your laundry is clean to scheduling tours to communicating with guides, etc. Having evening drinks and canapés with the other guests was...
