We chose this guesthouse based on TA reviews. We stayed in this B&B en route to Parque Nacional Serra da Capivara in Piauí State. We weren´t disappointed considering the price we paid for the triple room. The first room we stayed in was a bit cramped, not a lot of ventilation, threadbare really. But on our way back we stayed in the Morango room which is very spacious and is on the top floor. Ricky, the owner, is an American who's been in Petrolina for a long time so he knows all about the place. This guesthouse has a strange but interesting feel to it decorated with a mix of figures, pictures, sculptures and tapestry from all over the world hung on the walls. The recreational area on the rooftop has a very uncanny sort of decoration. The building is only three-story high but has a lot of rooms, stairs (no lifts) and hallways. The reception is very tiny. The staff is very friendly and breakfast very decent though not included in the daily rate. If you´re staying just for a short... More

I stayed in Petrolina only because it was impossible to reach São Raimundo Nonato and Serra da Capivara by public transport the same day. First comment is that the bed photo in the main picture is nothing like the reality, I had the best room apparently and you can see what it's really like in the attached photo. I didn't come expecting much because of the reviews and the price and on the positive side the guesthouse is clean and well located (allbeit in a complete wasteland). The irritations were that there was no soap of any sort in the bathroom, there was a fridge but nothing in it and you have to pay extra for breakfast (it's not much but it's annoying). On leaving the owner insisted I had not paid when they actually force you to pay everything by Brazilian bank transfer BEFORE you arrive and I had the receipt in my hand. Not the best of experiences.
