We checked in today and we are one of only two couples staying at this hotel. We asked (through our guide, who is Kyrgyz) for the best available room, since the hotel is essentially vacant. At first they showed us to a room in the first building (which was the closest to the office and the most convenient for them). However, that room had truly poor views. So we asked to stay in one of the other buildings closer to the Issyk Kul Lake. They said they could not move us because we booked a double room and the other buildings had only rooms with twin beds. We said we were OK with twin beds and yet they still didn't want to move us. After several requests, they finally agreed to move us to the next building. Guess what? It has double beds. They lied to us. Yet the views were still poor, so we asked to move to the next building, closer to the lake and hopefully with a better view. They told us that they could not, that there were no rooms available in that building, that it is already fully booked. Yet we went to dinner tonight and there is only one other couple staying here and their room is in the second building (same as ours). So another lie. We are only here for one night, so it couldn't have been a conflict with a group arriving later in the week. They have no elevators and I had to carry our luggage (two large suitcases) up three flights of stairs. Upon the last half flight of stairs, the hotel person offered to carry one of the suitcases, ostensibly to get a tip. No thanks. We were lied to by two different people at the hotel, so apparently this is a systemic problem with the management of the hotel. Look at the attached pic. That is the view from our room. Parking lot and next door construction zone. And it was an even worse view in the other building. Do not stay here. You will overpay for a room with a poor view and will be required to deal with dishonest management. There is no excuse for lying to your guests like that.…
Location wise it's quite good since away from the bustle of the town yet not too far away. Service was bit cold and they struggled with basic English. Rooms were below par and bordering sub-standard. Few lights didn't work and everything looked like it was about to fall apart. Beds were comfortable and it's quiet. Sleep quality was above average. Breakfast was a bit chaotic and once again below par. Overall, we stayed for a night and quite happy it was only for one night.
We've been on a week stay at cholpon ata. there are two main reasons why you should visit this place, aside from the rooms and view. The reception staff are amazing. Hands down the best around. One spoke very good English (which it's extremely rare, finding a naive that can talk makes everything painless. She organised on the phone, a trip for us into the mountains (we were struggling thanks to our bad Russian). To top it all off, she even hit us her number in case we had a translation emergency. Honestly was so nice!! Will return if I'm this way again ford sure.
It's a resort-hotel on the Issyk-Kul. I got a huge room with a kitchenette in one of the cottages - there are multiple cottages with plenty of rooms that can house big groups of people. Every room has a balcony with a lovely view. The cottages are surrounded by flowers, mostly roses. The dining cottage is lovely - you can eat inside or in the balcony. A lovely flowered path leads to the swimming pool, the private beach, and the conference hall. The location is so great that everywhere you look, the view is amazing. I loved every minute of my stay.
So lets go, Pros: - clean rooms, cleaning every 3 days, but if you ask can be done every day - Wi-Fi was OK, easyly accessible in the whole area, even on the beach - food was fine, you could always choose from two dishes, of course, you have to realize that you are in Kirgizstan, so national-style dishes are mostly served - it has its own beach, which was clean, there is also a pier, where you can walk or jump into the water Cons: - our TV didn't work and when I told them at the reception the answer was "the are only kirgiz/russian programs anyway" - this was very unprofessional, I could watch at least sports or music programs, as we had one rainy day - the disco/karaoke bar was almost always empty, if you are looking for something more partying, you have to go outside the resort - on the pictures on the website there is a volleyball pitch or saunas on the pier, none of this did work unfortunately - also the sauna, which is available costs 1500 SOM/hour, but you have to book it for minimum 2 hours... when you are alone or just two, its enormously expensive to use the sauna then Besides that I really appreciate that as we were the only non-russian/kirgiz speaking guests, they tried to be accommodating, always sending a waiter, who was talking english to us. All in all, it is a nice family orientated resort, if you want to have more party-like holiday, you should rather try different one (Raduga?), but I didn't regret I was there. The beach was nice, the Issyk-kul lake was clean and warm, so I had nice holidays.... When we were leaving, we were waiting too long for the taxi, so one employee drove us to the bus station for free. Also there is a possibility of laundry, which we used (we didnt pay anything).…
The hotel has its own 'beach' on the lake. The rooms are spacious, however, hope you are on level 1, there are 3 floors but no lift. This looks like a new hotel. The meals (included in the room rate) were nothing to write home about. There are cooking facilities in the room, which may be a better option!!!
nice location but the design of the rooms are not so user friendly. the breakfast was OK for the country conditions. the staff is friendly but do not expect anybody to speak EN. the duration we were there was freezing cold, you should remind the staff before you reach there to heat up the rooms.
Accidentally found this hotel. not far from the city and close to the beach, quiet and protected area, breakfast average and lunch is also normal, three meals a day. the total average score is better Parking covered, the beach is clean. The water is not deep. very convenient for children. close to 100 meters there is a cafe. You can order tea and coffee or something to eat
The "hotel" is divided into 4 buildings.there is no lift and the rooms are very basic. The cleaners did not bother to change and clean the garbage bins even in the bathroom, where I found the rest of the former tenant's dirty toilet paper! The towels feel like sandpaper! The mattress is so hard that I get up with backpack every morning! BUT the grounds are lovely and there is an even private beach! Breakfast is terrible and stingy - if u are two people u get EXACTLY two slices of cheese and two slices of salami! Breakfast room is a cantine! Doesn't feel like a hotel ,even 2 - star!
The location of the hotel is great. The large compound is next to the lake with a rather long line of a beach. You can swim in a clean and clear water, while watching snow capped mountains. The end of the peer is especially a nice place for swimming in a deep water. If water is too cold ,you can warm yourself in a sauna built on a small barge. As to rooms, there are various types of rooms and the prices are wide range according to the space etc. I stayed in a single room of 21m2 with a spacious balcony facing south. Even at the end of August ,the sun is appreciated, because average temperature was 22/10. Rooms facing north have views of snow capped mountains. The room price includes 3 meals. Price without meals is not much cheaper. It may be better with meals, because outside restaurants are a bit far.( In the town there are many choices of restaurants and cafes and some are quite recommendable) The staff at the reception provided excellent service all the way from reservation to staying. Some of them speak good English. If you have a plenty of time, I recommend a walk along the shore , from the hotel beach through the public beach and a green area with trees, passing by the wall of the summer residence of the President ,then through an alley of shops ,cafes and restaurants reaching the main road near the town Center. It is a 2km walk watching a few wild birds, wild flowers, street dogs and people. On the way you will find" Golden Street Cafe" where you can taste Italian coffee and various dishes. The lady owner speaks fluent English.…
