Isleta El Espino offers a respite from the dusty road and, with only five guest rooms, the quiet serenity of a private island. Birds, monkeys, breezes are the soundtrack of the islands. The lodge features a swimming pool, yoga platform, massage facilities, intimate bar, and dining. El Espino is just minutes away from the historic city of Granada and an array of activities including hiking, boating, horseback riding, dining, shopping, and exploration. El Espino is off-grid with power courtesy of the sun.

My husband and I spent the last 3 nights of our honeymoon here at Isleta El Espino and loved it! Aside from the fact that the views and island itself is absolutely beautiful, it is also a great place to really relax and disconnect if you wish. The weather was quite hot with no AC in the rooms, but the pool was lovely and the staff made sure we had plenty of drinks and snacks, They even packed us a little cooler of beer when we took the boat out for a ride through the islands in the lake. This is also a great spot if you want to be out of the hustle and bustle of Granda, but a very easy boat/taxi ride into town. If your on the fence about booking and are okay with being in the middle of nature, book it! You won't regret it!

Stayed in a casita that is lakefront, private and stunning views of the Mombacho volcano and sunsets right front the deck. Rooms are well equipped with safe, mosquito netting over the bed and locally made lights, hammock, tables and ceramics. There are kayaks, yoga mats and blocks, a library and sitting area under the treehouse and of course the yoga / best dining place palapa! Staff is available 24 hours a day for you and purified water is complimentary. The included breakfast cones with a fresh squeezed juice, a fresh fruit bowl and your choice of 5-6 breakfast options! And they all are delicious and filling! You must try the fish tacos for lunch. The dinners include a complimentary appetizer of the day and are $10-16usd each. Henry the boat driver is timely, polite, always smiling and attentive. The kitchen staff Ana, Thema, and Xiomara are friendly and the food presented is both perfectly seasoned and well presented! Pablo the bartender waiter speaks perfect English and is very knowledgeable, polite, helpful and makes great smoothies and micheladas! Overall our stay was very relaxing, peaceful and stress free as the staff assisted with all the drivers to Masaya, Grenada, the boat service and the airport. The internet is not fast but works well for emails and texting, the power went out a couple of times but was restored again in a few hours as the generator did not kick in. Kayaking around the islands, the lake is calm and you can watch the local fishermen and their skills. I would highly recommend this little gem and Maria Jose (Majo) the new manager is a job and always willing to assist you with your inquiries or needs. Thanks for the memorable 6 days!

The photos make this property to look like an island paradise, in actual fact it's really run down. The rooms are tired and there are smear marks on the bathroom walls. The staff are charming but don't speak brilliant English so communicating is hard. The food is not great and doesn't change so if you're staying at the property more than one night you get very bored of the same limited menu. The housekeeping is non existent - we paid far too much to stay at this property for what we experienced. Having come from Tribal in Managua where we paid much less to stay and that was INCREDIBLE, our time on the island was very underwhelming despite the magical setting because it's so poorly run.

Absolutely loved this place! The rooms were one of a kind. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. This place is great if you want a peaceful getaway from the city. The room we stayed at had a balcony surrounded by natural water, I’ve never seen a place like this here in Nicaragua. Private, secluded, yet it had everything you’d expect. We want go back as soon as we can. Shoutout to Pablo and the rest of the staff for being great at what they do. They really care about your experience.

I came to this hotel on holiday with my girlfriend. It is nothing short of amazing. The views speak for themselves, the lake is beautiful and the island is homely. It is a great location, five minutes from Granada marina by boat. The staff were kind, helpful and professional. The only drawback is I became aware (reinforced by previous reviews) that taxis booked through the hotel are seemingly at a higher charge than if you were to act independently. This is for taxis to and from Granada, and elsewhere. In my eyes a hotel should offer taxis for the best price as guests are exactly that, guests. They shouldn't have to wonder whether they are being ripped off. However, I was on holiday and decided I did not care about this issue, and everything else was so fantastic that I still give a happy five stars.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the hotel for one night and can only highly recommend it. The room was lovely and had a lot of beautiful details. The staff of the hotel was highly professional and very friendly. The hotel was built and is managed completely by locals, which makes it authentic. Kayaks for discovering the shores of the island and the lakes are included. Many birds visit the island and you can book a lake tour with the hotel for further bird watching and wildlife in general. We did not know a lot of birds beforehand but got really nice insights from the knowledgable guide. Even though, the hotel is in the upper price range for Nicaragua, the price-performance ratio is very good. Especially, if you consider what you would pay for such a service in Europe.

We stayed for the weekend with our family and had the entire island for us. It was just excellent. Everything, the rooms and transportation, the views, the food, the lake, the pool, fauna and flora and specially the staff! We hope to be back soon. Thanks for everything

Had the entire Isleta for 4 days and did not want to leave. All the staff was friendly and professional. A special thank you to Pablo, Leslie and Henry for making our staying great. If you want to relax and just enjoy your family’s company Isleta el Espino is a must. Food was well prepared, can’t complain at all. My only gripe would be that we didn’t stay longer and that’s my fault. Thank you again

This place is amazing. I wouldn't use it as a "base" to explore Granada, but the other way around - a 2-night escape from the city, and it's perfect for it. Everything is incredibly tasteful, the view is lovely, the food is expertly prepared by a talented woman named Ana. I also had a massage with Claudia and loved every second of it. I can't wait to come back.

We stayed in the two bungalows along the edge of the island. They were so private and quaint. The staff was friendly and helpful while still leaving us to ourselves. It was great for relaxing. I kept eating mangoes as they fell from the trees - true paradise! The food was wonderful at every meal. The last night they moved our table under the large palapa for enjoying the sunset and the view of the volcano. One day we took their ferry back to Granada for shopping and lunch and that went well. We also took some kayak trips - I would recommend a sunrise kayak.
