Owners always on-site, good people and always available. The hotel is right off the beach area, ideally located for privacy and access. The bar and restaurant are 5-star. Rooms are spotless and ver comfortable. Hotel a great value. Highly recommend.

The place is one star motel/ hostel the most But it can be expected visiting El Salvador. Mopelia was our final destination of our week long trip around the country. We were pleasantly surprised by hospitality of locals, by great food and drink choices and were able to compare Mopelia. The location is great, front desk girl Pamela is awesome, the highlight of our stay .unfortunately, we never get to see the owners even though the motel was not crowded. Upon check in we were told that we can not drink/ eat outside food which is understandable bc there is a restaurant on site. So we ordered drinks at the restaurant when we were at the hotel. But we are beach goers and went to the nearby beach daily where we brought our own drinks. Trash and leftovers we brought to the hotel to throw it out it to take with us next day. However we were informed of $50 extra charge fir excessive cleaning ( changing sheets) that I put in myself and fir having alcohol in our room ( not drinking it on their property )Cleaning personnel used water bottles fir cleaning solutions and my husband almost drink it bc they left it after their excessive cleaning. ( in any US hotels this situation would be unheard of and would prob resulted in at least apology NOT an extra charge ) Please refer to the photos that show how “deep “ their cleaning is. We asked for a later check out but was told that extra hour is $15 charge ( we stayed til 2 and our room was still vacant and not cleaned Very sad but these things really left us with bad impression about the place Unfortunately, the owners don’t really care about customers and feel that they can charge fir anything. I work in tourist industry and this trip was our trial for organizing future trips to Salvador. Mopelia would not be the place for our customers. Very impersonal, hidden charges, way too overpriced for what you get and many of the guests we spoke to during our stay agreed. There are plenty of places to stay there, refrain from Mopelia and spend your money somewhere where it’s valued and where the owners won’t take advantage of you just bc they could.

My friends and I were on a surf trip when we came across this quaint litt restaurant called Mopelia. Hesitant at first we gave it a try and to our surprise was the best food we had experienced in El Salvador. The owner's and staff were attentive and mindful to our every need. The menu, presentation, taste, and price were all on point. We enjoyed it so much that we went back for a 2nd time on our last night in the beautiful town of El Tunco.

In the morning we were looking for a person at the reception to extend the night and there was no one there. Then we went for a walk and one of the friends fainted so we took him to the clinic, and we were late for the check out. When we got back to the hotel, they charged us money for two nights, without informing us. In less than 24 hours we paid for a price of two days Beyond greed, the girl from the reception spoke to us unkindly. So we decided to pay to take our stuff and go away.

Visited El Tunco for a couple nights while in El Salvador. This hotel was phenomenal! The staff were super friendly and welcoming. It is located <1 minute from the beach. Super quiet at night as well.

We came here for the burgers and there is a decent range available, starting from $5-6. We had the Mopelia burger and chicken pasta, which were both good. We noticed that they offer free drinking water till the afternoon, which is a nice touch.

During my trip from Mexico to Colombia I stayed in various types of accommodation, from 5* to hostels. Of all the places, Mopelia is one of two favourites and I will explain why. On arrival I was directed to my semi-attached bungalow, a gentle walk from reception. It had a very comfortable double bed, a bedside table and a few shelves. Small bathroom with really good shower. So no luxury. But it was all I needed. I had a patio at the front with a hammock. Few steps away was a small, very clean pool - well kept garden surrounded the cluster of bungalows where I spotted several iguanas of varying sizes. And not a sound to be heard day or night despite being next to a walkway to the beach. This is my idea of heaven. I was fortunate enough to meet Gil, the charming owner from Belgium, who lives there with his family. He made me feel very welcome, as did all the other staff. There are several Belgian bottled beers available as well as other beers. Food choices are good and it’s true what they say, best burgers in town. I thoroughly enjoyed breakfasts. Mopelia is an oasis in a small town full of bars and restaurants, the fun is only couple of minutes away though. I regretted over-planning my trip as I wanted to stay there a few more days. But I’m already planning another trip early next year and I can’t wait to stay at Mopelia again.

Mopelia markets itself as the quiet place in El Tunco. This is great if your party days are behind you and you're content sitting in a hammock. The grounds are gorgeous and there's a small pool as well. Breakfast is included. It's cooked to order and tastes good. Dinner is also good and they have a great beer selection. They aren't open for lunch, but other restaurants are close by and there's a tiny market across the street.

We stayed here for 3 nights, and will definitely be coming back. The rooms were comfortable, very clean, and had everything we needed. The pool is a great place to hang out when it's too hot to be at the beach, and the gardens are lovely. The restaurant is excellent, with very good food and good prices. We especially loved the wings and breakfast burger. This is a quiet hotel (which we love), but probably not the best place if you are looking for a party hostel vibe. There are plenty of bars in El Tunco, so its nice to have a quiet place to sleep at night. The staff was very, very helpful and friendly. The owner helped us find a mechanic when one of the cars in our group broke down, and helped us communicate with the mechanic and traffic police. I would highly recommend Hotel Mopelia.

We had the pleasure of attending a Thursday Trivia Night where we enjoyed some variety of beers. I was getting a bit tired after drinking golden, pilsner and regia for the whole week. The higher price of the beers is obviously justified as they are imported! The Trivia was well organized and rules to not use your cellphone were enforced. Also went there for breakfast which was delicious. The bacon burger had so much flavour and was hands down on my top 3 things I've eaten in El Salvador. It was nice to see the family that runs this quaint hotel and restaurant.
