Travelling from Norway, this was our first trans-atlantic adventure with our 7 months old little boy. The best investment of the whole trip was spending the extra dollars to stay at Boca Olas, we stayed there for 4 weeks. The hotel is located 200m from the more busy "main street", where there is more noice during evenings and weekends. Guards at the entrance 24h, not that we felt El Tunco was anything other than safe and friendly, but still. The hotel boardes one of the small rivers in El TUnco, wich gives a cool breeze at the resturant and amazing view. 50m from surf at La Bocana, and 10 min walk to surf at El Sunzal. Neighbouring Balancè Yoga studio is a great place for exercise and yoga. Boca Olas is quiet, extremely clean and fresh, has 2 nice pools (Also with shade, which was a winner for us with a small kid). The breakfast was amazing and served from 7.30-10. Lunch, dinner, smoothies and drinks also holds the highest standards. The rooms are clean and has a good size, really comfortable beds and great pressure and hot water in the shower. Lastly i must honor the staff. They made our holiday to the best trip ever. From early morning until late night they made their best effort for us and the other tourist. Most of them speaking well English. They helped out with our litlle boy (playing/carrying/stroling) and helped us with everything else we would need, so flexible and always positive.
We would highly recomend Boca Olas to everyone and will definately come back!l

Our room was peaceful, right on the river/canal. (Construction is going on next door towards the ocean so until that is finished the rooms upriver (away from the ocean) will be quieter. ) Also, the music at the pool adjacent to the restaurant is on all day and evening so it can get to you after a while as well.
The staff is incredibly friendly and will do whatever to make you happy. The food in the restaurant is quite good, in particular the breakfasts. The beds are a little hard. Sleeping pillows are flat. They could get some more comfy ones. There are no reading lights over the beds or on bedside tables so you'll need a headlamp to read at night.
It is a great place but they will draw many more people when they commit to more sustainable practices. Instead of giving you little plastic bottles of water each day in your room, they could invest in a reverse osmosis system and bring you carafes of fresh water in your room. The plastic waste here is pretty bad! Solar on the roofs in such a sunny place would make a lot of sense and show commitment to a greener world. All in all though a terrific place. They have done a nice job here. Good value for the money.

Just got back from a week at Boca Olas. It was absolutely amazing. The resort is stunning. The 2 pools are very nice and each has it's own feel. The one with the swim up bar is the livelier one and the other has a quiet tranquil feel. It also has a bar, just not a swim up one.
The location is right at the entrance and is a short walk into the main area (max 10 mins at a very slow pace).
Breakfast was delicious and the fresh orange juice was the best way to start the day. the view and breeze from the restaurant was so relaxing.
I think the best thing about this resort is the staff. And I mean ALL of them. From the front desk, the bar staff and the servers. Even the maintenance people (who were always cleaning or fixing something without ever being in the way!) and security teams are so nice with a friendly greeting when you see them.
I already plan to go back to Boca Olas. I have stayed elsewhere in El Tunco but this is off the charts beautiful,
It was very hard to leave. See you in 2022 Boca Olas!!

This resort is small, quaint, and super clean. The staff seemed to be cleaning all day, and it was refreshing to see. The rooms were spacious, clean, the beds are firm but not uncomfortable. The housekeeping cleans the rooms daily at 10a or 3p (the time is your choice). You get fresh towels daily which is a plus. We had breakfast included with our reservation and it was so worth it. The food was made fresh and delicious. Make sure you get their early because even with the hotel not being full the restaurant gets busy in the morning.
The resort has 2 pools both have bars, but only one has a swim up bar. I would be nice if there was a designated kids pool after a certain time because the children took over both pools and were loud and obnoxious. I will say that security on the resort made sure that adults supervised their children or the children we're asked to leave the pool.
The drinks are amazing and the bartender Daniel is the best! Everyone was very nice and welcoming. I will be back on my next trip to El Salvador.

The facility is very nice, staff are pleasant, pools a great especially the swim up bar was fantastic. Everything was fine and would have gotten a higher rating except on checking out they check every room all eight and came up one towel short that they charged $10 for. Very petty when you spend over $3,000 in one day. Shame on you.

lovely facility and staff. Muchas gracias at Fatima y Benjamin! We were with a group of people that visited for a yoga and surfing retreat with Balance Yoga (search by Yoga El Salvador).My only complaint is that the two women that led our retreat and stayed on the Balance property (next door) were told that they would need to pay $30/day to use the pool. That is not fair as they delivered a group of 15 guests and significant revenue to Boca Olas. I would like the owner to contact me, please. Thank you.

Moved to Boca Olas as most Playa El Tunco places closed or consolidated operations in the Covid-19 lockdown. The move to Boca Olas was a step up from Roca Sunzal in hotel star counts: perfect grounds, pools & surf views were the norm. The restaurant had a diverse menu and I regularly ordered the citrus salad and the Pargo Almendrado, sometimes with a side of extra vegetables. A breakfast option of omelette (sin yema de huevo), jugo & cafe was great as was a special breakfast of light-cheese pupusas with spicy coleslaw and fruit. Care and concern by both the owner and management were exemplary.

This was by far the worst hotel I had stayed at El Tunco. Do yourself a favor and find another hotel; Thad stayed at Papava Surf Garden and they were pretty good. This hotel would want to over charger you for ever single small reason and the stuff is absolutely rude. The amenities are okay but the location is not central and the only nice thing is that you can walk to the beach BUT after 10PM they closed the gate and you need to walk miles to get back to the hotel it was was an absolute nightmare to stay here, worst hotel and customer service

This resort is small, easy accessible resort to El Tuno area. The grounds were beautifully maintained and secure. Pools/restaurant were also very clean and enjoyable. Staff very friendly and helpful. The rooms were a decent size (a little outdated but not a dealbreaker) there was some mold on ceiling by shower otherwise clean and comfortable. We ordered breakfast one day (was a little pricy compared to a walk down the street) and it was delicious. Overall I recommend staying here if you plan to head to El Tunco.

My family and I just got back from vacation in El Salvador, we chose to stay once again at Boca Olas Resort. This place is amazing! We’re so glad we decided to come back, this time with my sister and her family. The staff at Boca Olas did everything in their power to help accommodate 8 people. We stayed at their just renovated home at the Hotel. The place was immaculate. Brand new everything! The staff treated us very well, just like family. They provided transportation, etc... The food at the Hotel is delicious and the Hotel is close to shops and restaurants, walking distance. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a great time and totally relax!
